I love these quotes! Thank you for sharing them.

I agree. One of the biggest problems in losing weight is maintaining the loss. Too many times I lost weight and then went back to old habits allowing it to sneak back on. Don't get me wrong, it didn't come back overnight. One day, I would eat chips with my sandwich. The next, I'd have another cocktail. You get the picture.…

Your body doesn't care about the app. It cares about the workout. I know I like the precision of all the apps that are available, but in reality it only matters that you do the work. I know you know this. Maybe you need to wean yourself off the apps for a few days?

I'm sorry you're feeling bad. I know how it is - I really do. I've been treated for depression. But for me in the end, I think it is just like living with any chronic condition, like pain. Be kinder to yourself on the bad days. I agree that sometimes just doing one thing like cleaning the kitchen or ironing the laundry can…

I think you should focus on positive thoughts, not negative ones. Doesn't logging all you negative thoughts just reinforce them? I'm not a doctor, so I can't tell you what will help you but I know that when I'm thinking negatively, I try to stop myself and not indulge it. You should also try not saying anything to yourself…

This is true for me as well. I started at age 57 and was quite sure that I couldn't lose weight. I thought that I had been eating very little and yet still kept piling on the pounds. Well, when I started logging my food I realized that I had been eating and drinking a lot more calories than I thought! And when I started…

This is the best advice. I read this a couple of days ago and yesterday told myself all I needed was one day. Anyone can do something for just one day, right? It felt so good going to bed last night knowing I had accomplished my goal. Today is day two and all I need is today. Not looking any further than that.

If you are not already weighing and measuring your food, I would start. You may be eating more than you think. Good luck and hang in there. You will win in the end!

Eggs and toast. Make it high fiber bread. Nothing holds me over like eggs. You can make them into and sandwich and take with you if you're in a hurry. They are cheap, good for protein and fat. Good luck. Try to limit carbs to no more than 45g at each meal according to my dietician. (3 times a day).

Exactly this. You should have an idea of what you burn each day (TDEE). Eat that amount. You'll have fun and not do any damage.

When you have a good month, do you measure your food and log it? If so, keep doing it, even when you eat more than you should. Don't stop weighing your food and logging it. It is eye opening!

Some foods are just triggers. If you can't get rid of it, put it ways out of sight. Like in the basement. Then you at least have to walk some steps to get to it. I buy the proportioned peanut butter. I know it is expensive, but it helps me and it makes it easy to carry as a lunch with some apple slices. Good luck.

When I get in that funk I put on my gym clothes. I tell myself that's all I have to do. Once I'm dressed I drive to the gym. I tell myself just 5 minutes on the bike. Anyone can do that. And then I do my workout because after five minutes my mind is in a better place. Baby steps.

You need to stop the madness in your head. You can't let these thoughts consume you. I'm a 58 year old woman who hated her body her whole life. I started dieting at 13 and have never stopped. I always felt fat but when I look back at old pictures of me I see a beautiful girl. I couldn't get past my own body image issues to…

If there is ever a time to go over, that would be it! How cool!

What do you mean by 'naturally'?

This post makes me sad. I know a lot of people who feel righteous while they're taking it off and much more humble when the put it back on. Try not to judge what others eat. It's personal.

If you opened a carton of eggs and one fell out and broke, would you throw the rest of them on the floor?

I'm working on losing the 20 pounds I regained. Two days of meticulous logging so far. I feel good, like I have to and can do this. Going to the gym now!
-
I'd like to hear from people who gained back and then took it off again. I've been creeping back on the pounds I worked so hard to take off. I'm hoping I can turn this around.

Why should my fit husband have to give up eating because I'm fat? That's not reasonable.

Hang in there. It gets better.

I quit smoking 30 years ago. I was smoke free for 15 years and then I had one at a bar with a friend and that was the beginning of 10 more years of smoking. I gave it up again 5 years ago now and I can honestly say that the fear of what smoking does to my body is enough motivation to not smoke. The first time I quit, I…

We have several successful people on this site who lost weight and became fit - running, weight lifting, walking. Many have joined gyms and employed trainers. Would any one of them have started in a gym with an owner who has this mentality? It is people like him that make it so difficult for the overweight to start a…

I can't believe he has any clients left. Her response is priceless and classy. She can lose weight, but he can't fix stupid.

I'm laying here in my Jammie's reading this and I've decided to get up and go to the gym. Don't let others run your life. You can control how those comments affect you. You can let them shatter you. Or you can use them as a catalyst. Or you can completely ignore them as the stupid hurtful words they were. Focus on the task…

I'm not a big fan of potluck a during a class. I think it would distract from the learning experience. If the class is during dinner hours, let them bring a lunch. If not, then three hours is not so long that you have to fortify yourself with food. Really? We can't go three hours without eating? No wonder we have weight…
