YOGA. Not the bendy scary upside-down kind, but the listening-to-your-body, all-your-muscles-work-together kind. This little video is a sequence for core strength that you don't even move (outside) in. http://www.doyouyoga.com/how-to-strengthen-your-mind-and-build-core-strength-with-bandhas/ "Lilias" (an old-time TV yoga…

They treat my husband poorly (he's the morning front desk guy at our YMCA). The gym itself is pretty okay - it's a gym - but the management is horrifying.

Meet with your professor. Ask specifically what concepts or skills you are not catching on to, and if he or she can recommend a tutor. Smile, be polite and positive - own your grade, it is the professor's honest assessment of your success in learning the material presented, not a statement about your personality. If you…

I began yoga with a DVD called "Yoga for Inflexible People." It has a lot of elements that will annoy you - for example, the routines are presented one pose at a time, each in their own file on the DVD, not as a continuous "class" like you would get on TV. On the plus side, it goes very slowly and has a ton of variety on…

A timer on the coffee pot and all the workout clothes laid out. My alarm goes off the same time that the coffee starts, so I'm still "snoozing" when the beep of the coffee maker tells me there's hot java goodness waiting, if I'll only creep down to it. After a half cup or so I might as well put on the cute workout stuff…

Get the fruit and veg that is on sale - even if you've never heard of it or think you don't like it. Challenge yourself to eat it all before it spoils. I also splurge on a big can of cashews or mixed nuts. A handful is a crunchy, salty, satisfying snack. Yogurts and packaged cheese sticks.

I converted to "genuine" baby carrots from the farmers' market or my farm share last year. They are a distinct variety, smaller and sweeter than a regular carrot and amazingly yummy. I've got some growing in my garden now (maybe a two-day supply but, hey, I grew them myself with nothing on 'em but dirt and cow poo!). I…

"Back in the day . . ." in my history class. When was "the day" exactly? Was there just one other day? And everything happened on it?

Perhaps you could also set your goal for "maintenance" and use those numbers, thus allowing the 300-500 calories a day from bfing to create your deficit? Just be ready to do some adjustment as your baby grows and eats more, then starts weaning and eats less!

Yes. For me it's usually a pound or two.
