I agree with what many folks on here have posted. I went from 290 to 207 in about 8 months...I have since come back up to 240. Almond flour is delish and is available online. We get it from vitacost. My wife had to ditch normal breads when she had gest. diabetes and now it's all we eat!!!

Down 70 lbs on 1650 cals a day avg over that last 9 months (I joined mfp more recently hence why it's down only 22 on here). I eat fish, turkey, whole wheats, cheeses, yogurt, protein shakes, some veggies, coffee and water and splurge one day a week on whatever suits my fancy. I'm living proof a cal is just a cal.

Some hospitals have programs, for free, that will let you come in and weigh yourself and then give you a printout of your figures with a full breakdown of BMR, LBM, etc (Baptist Health System have these machines- I was on one this morning).
