I think many people just experience varying hunger levels. I think it's probably healthier overall to not ignore your body's signals to force a total an app recommends. If you're having 800 some days and 1600+ other days, it's fine. There's nothing magical about a 24 hour period. Look at the bigger picture. And if you're…

So you would go up to some trainer at the gym whom you think is new because he just started training a client while you're there a few weeks ago and open the conversation with, "dude, you're new here, so you probably don't know any better. But the rule here is we rerack our *kitten* when we've finished with it. Now you…

Some other 12 METS activities are skipping rope, 120bpm and running 8.3mph, for context.
-
Wow, 20mph on a mountain bike. I'm just slow. Though I think a friend's riding group does average 17mph, he said. The idea of 12 METS for hours straight is odd to me but I kind of doubt you guys who can do that speed for that distance are really at 12 METS. To me, that's 'puke in a bucket' exertion. I remember Cathe…

Or speak how you want and ignore the people who don't like your word choice.
-
It doesn't matter, except for health and for satiety and that latter definitely affects weight loss.
-
I just meant you said you would have asked him to re-rack plainly without emotional charge. I don't think those words would be taken plainly without emotional charge. Just a comment, nothing personal.

The OP said he didn't want to overeat. I can see it both ways. It just seems like if you can do that sort of athletic feat, I figure you must be Superman, and Superman should be able to eat freely without calcing out his burns and measuring his food. Clearly I'm no Superman, and not around many! ;)
-
How would you know who's "new here", too? I think most people would consider that offensive, from another gym-goer.
-
It's never better to sit than to walk. I think most of us who use it for walking have one at home, and can really spend some time on it. Though even if it's just 45 minutes of walking, that's several hundred calories.
-
Wow, I'm surprised you need to worry about your intake at all with that sort of activity, assuming it's not a rare event! If you want a third estimate take your BMR per minute X 12 METS times minutes of the ride. It's going to be higher than both of those, I think. Even with my puny BMR it'd be over 2200 calories.
-
The lab was 3 years ago, not that these aren't great ideas!
-
I was thinking this as well. That's about 450 calories per hour. Then again, the METS value for cycling that fast is 12, which would be way more than 450 calories per hour. Are you sure you went that far? That's 18mph for almost 4 hours. :o

With 100 lbs. to lose I think you could go either way. You'll lose faster without 'eating back' but if having more calories motivates you to move more, that's a good thing overall. But if you're eating 2500ish with 6000 steps, I'd be a little surprised if you achieved your 1.5 lbs/week loss goal, too. Good luck!

I sometimes do this, too. I can also put a laptop or tablet on my treadmill and work or do whatever, while walking.

They had samples at my Costco once, which I was glad of because I didn't like the edamame spaghetti, and I would've bought it if I hadn't tried it. It wasn't bad, it just tasted like edamame formed into spaghetti. Too much edamame taste and texture, I guess. And I like edamame. I do like the millet and brown rice ramen…

If they don't want bad reviews they should enforce their policies. Leaving an honest review isn't exactly childish.

Part of WW plan is that you'll eat more produce and drink more water, due to being tired of tracking point-laden stuff. I have never had a frappuccino. I would think given their cost and calories it'd be an easy thing to give up. I bet a lot of people would say that about beer, though, which I do splurge on. 100 days off…

The Pepsi is probably around 6-8 points. Three egg whites is 1 point, 3 oz. tuna is 2 points, an ounce of regular (not lowfat) cheese is 3. So 6 points total. She's not gaming the system. She's eating how they want her to learn to eat to maintain a healthy weight and good nutrition.

Losses will always come partly from lean mass. Most info I've seen says 50-60g for women.
-
This is what I was going to suggest. The numbers themselves don't matter but if it makes you feel bad to see that gain, change the history. I understand. I got a new scale that weighed a little higher, too. In a few weeks you'll forget about it. Good luck!
-
Please don't stop posting due to that oversensitive reaction to your post. You made perfect sense and didn't come off sounding like a know-it-all or anything. Pansamanchada, I wouldn't consider your HR while driving to be comparable to your RHR. You should measure RHR before you get out of bed, before coffee, before…

I think most people at MFP would learn a lot from temporary use of a food scale and could learn from it to eyeball portions correctly, if they chose to. I don't like the pervasive attitude that "Everyone MUST weigh all their food and they must do it forever because I will never learn and therefore no one will ever learn to…

I think they would say that counting calories can be viewed like a game, too. Though they've simplified the game by using smaller numbers and making the numbers steer you toward more filling, less caloric choices. And by providing a scorekeeper of sorts (scheduled weigh-ins) and a field of co-players, if you go to meetings…

As in you hold a head of cauliflower in your hand and take a bite? :) I don't know how many places sell these but my grocery store has a sushi bar that sells Moon Pops. They're like 17 calories each for a flat rice cake thing about the size of a lunch plate.
-
A slice of cake would have to be about 1000 calories to be 3/4 of even the smallest person's points allowance for the day, I think. They update the programs because we learn more about the field all the time, plus people like to try new programs.

I've never seen chickpeas (dried or canned) at Costco. Or lentils, except the cooked-in-a-bag variety, which is kind of silly considering how cheap and easy they are to cook. The rice and beans bags are pretty huge. Cheap but huge. If you live alone you'd have to really eat them often to get through them. I can't even fit…

I figure she planned to go to the gym tomorrow and didn't want to have to just do cardio since she'd done both upper and lower the day before and should have a rest day before hitting one or the other again.

Talked to the gym manager.

I just read in People that chef Rocco Dispirito is also hawking a negative calorie diet book. http://www.amazon.com/The-Negative-Calorie-Diet-Pounds-ebook/dp/B00WR0UB0K
