Losing is much harder as your body fat % lowers. First 5-10 lbs of weight loss is easiest because most of that is actually water loss, not fat loss. But on the bright side, it's easier to maintain a healthy body once you've gotten "skinny" for a while, especially if you've built muscles during the process. Your body will…

+1. Ditch a weight scale and go for a good body fat/composition monitor like a Tanita. To be blunt, weight scales provide a single useless info. A body fat/composition monitor isn't the most accurate device, but at least it will paint a better, more informative picture of what's taking place with your body over time: body…

I believe the typical practice (well, mine at least) is to drink it before bed on those days you do weight training. Reason being is that casein is a slow-absorption protein that will fuel your muscles while they're recovering while you sleep/rest.

True, but it's a lot harder avoiding sodium when eating lunch/dinner out with co-workers/friends. But it's a fair trade-off:smile:

Popular belief is post-workout within 30-60mins of workout. Real truth may be that it doesn't really matter, even for serious weight lifting: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_nutrition/the_top_10_post_workout_nutrition_myths As I strive for optimal results, I've gone so far as to…

I see some fans of Ryan Reynolds. Here's his Workout and Diet Routine for Blade Trinity. Pretty straightforward. http://www.sixpacknow.com/ryan_reynolds_workout.html http://munfitnessblog.com/how-to-build-body-like-ryan-reynolds/ trainer's review of his workout:…

That story was awesome!!! Thanks OP. That photo of him and the fact that he's 91yrs old is simply amazing.

In all fairness, it's probably not the deli meats that are causing the high sodium count. Rather it's the bread. Don't believe me, check out the nutritional info on sites like Subway where they actually show the nutritional info for the bread alone as compared to the whole sandwich. You'll find that the bread alone makes…

Aw shucks! I live in San Diego now. I do miss some of those LA hikes like Fryman Canyon (used to live in Studio City) and Griffith Park. Couple others to consider are the trails in Topanga State Park. You can even hike the backbone trail all the way to Will Rogers State Park.

Yes, jeggings can be as atrocious as Mom jeans sometimes, BUT I gotta go with UGGS too.

My hands are clapping here!!! And here's a toast to you :drinker:

Not to sound like a smart *kitten*, but that sounds like an oxymoron. How do you get fit, especially for a guy, without building muscles?!?!

Lot of Kashi cereal lovers here. Glad I don't work with y'all  http://www.pleasegodno.com/archives/20-1-cup-Kashi-GoLEAN-Crunch-+-12-cup-milk-Endless-stomach-churning-gas..html I like the comment about Kashi GoLEAN Crunch as the Happy Golden Farty Crunches!!! ROFL

Tell me about it. Cobb salads used to be a fav of mine until I found out most have over 1,000 calories and 1,500mg sodium. Used to love the full salads at CPK like the original BBQ chicken chopped salad...no way am I ordering that again. Over 1,100 calories and 1,400mg sodium. YIKES!!!

There's research out there that imply that the 1 hour post-workout window is overstated: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_nutrition/the_top_10_post_workout_nutrition_myths But YMMV, so if the choc milk is working for you...don't stop on the account of the article.

You might not like the following suggestion but I did glance through your food diary to come up with the following: 1. Eat more meat: beef, chicken, seafood, whatever. You seem to be relatively low on the protein side as you're probably using MFP's default protein %. Eating meat and adding a protein shake as suggested…

Haven't done much research on CLA. I'll have to check it out. Is it safe to stack with BCAA's? Which thermogenic do you currently use? I have in the past used Cellucor D4 Thermal Shock with some success. I know a lot of people tout OxyELITEPro

Sort of but nothing super strict. I follow the general guidelines I gleamed from T-Nation. I'm somewhere between 15-18% body fat right now and would love to get it lower too to see more definition in my abs BUT not lose much muscle mass in the process. If you want a really good source of info for ketogenic diet (like the…

If you do exercise a lot, you may first want to get a HRM, if you don't have one already, that also tracks calorie expenditure to get a reasonable figure. A lot of people unknowingly overestimate their exercise calories:…

Here's a really good article that may help you to understand, diagnose and breakthrough your plateau: http://www.burnthefatblog.com/archives/2011/01/unexplainable-fat-loss-plateaus-explained.php Good luck!

40/40/20 (P/C/F) but I strive to mix it up daily. Weight training days I'll do carb-loading then go to reduced carbs on non-training days. As for protein, I'm thinking about pushing it closer to 50% as I would like to get in 1.5g per lb of body weight.

Look on the bright side...you're NOT way over. Only by 56 calories...no big deal. Remember, MFP generally factors in a 500 caloric deficit from your maintenance BMR to come up with your "daily goal" to achieve your desired weight loss. This is all assuming your inputted BMR is appropriate. No need to beat yourself up over…
-
Agreed. But to better gauge how much calories you're expending, it's a good idea to get a heart-rate monitor (HRM) that also indicates calories burned.

Hweh!!! Thought I might've killed this thread too!!! Sweating over an hour there. Yes I'm a CPA but not a tax person...then I'd really be a bore:bigsmile: J/K Now to get around to changing my dull username...
-
U ain't got a monopoly on that. I can ruin a thread faster than cops can kill a party!!! U think you're boring?!?! Have you seen my username...it screams out "Killjoy"...like if I were some IRS dietician trying to administer Enema to all tax auditors. BTW, I didn't think about coming up with a fun, unique username because…

Do I like salmon?!?! I would gladly bust my diet and tack on 5 lbs if I could get my hands on a fresh, juicy cut of a Copper River King Salmon. Only a few more months to go before Alaskan salmon season.

I just recently came across an excellent article (thanks to stroutman81) on Fat Loss Plateaus: http://www.burnthefatblog.com/archives/2011/01/unexplainable-fat-loss-plateaus-explained.php It offers great explanations and common mistakes

Oh gawd, I thought this was going to be a thread on a natural substitute for Viagra:embarassed:

Surprised no one has mentioned the Kalalau Trail on Kauai as a fav hike yet. Gorgeous 12mi trail where you can get amazing photos of the Na Pali coast. I love all types of photography but I seem to have the most fun doing underwater photography/video. Following a majestic sea turtle or trying to snap a decent shot of a…

Not to be a smart *kitten*, but aren't pull downs supposed to primarily work your back (latissimus dorsi)? Or did they have improper technique (e.g. rounding their spine during movement)?
