As far as you know . . .

My grandparents used to take me to a steakhouse every week when I lived with them over the summer. The place had a posted sign, a statement on the menu, and then reminders from waiters should anyone try to order any steak "well done" or even "medium-well" -- "we do not serve any of our steaks cooked beyond 'medium' - if…

It's 16 hours of fasting; 8 hour eating window. I've thought about doing it as an experiment, but haven't ever done it. I often skip "breakfast" or finish "eating" early enough to be in a 16:8 window, but I drink coffee (with added protein / carbs / fat) in the AM and frequently have a drink with macronutrients late night…

That is a pretty nifty summary for this recurring question. I am going to steal it! Well done.

Ummmm . . . so I just spent some time (way too long) at that link looking at all the pictures and reading the recipe . . . I think I need to try and make this - soon - even though I am not a baker. Maybe this weekend if I am not feeling too lazy. The idea of whiskey, apples, brown sugar, struesel, glazed all together, hot…

NEAT is "non-exercise activity thermogenesis" and is a calorie total that takes into account your normal daily routine, but *excludes* any calories from exercise done for the sake of exercise. MFP uses a NEAT approach - you set a daily calorie goal and you try to eat to that goal -- you also log your exercise activities…

You can log "strength training" under the cardio exercises if you like and it shows "earned" calories. However, as alyhuggan noted, it is very difficult to get a reliable estimate on calories burned (like many things). You just sort of have to do your best and watch your actual weight loss / gain / maintenance changes to…

Swoon . . . where is my fainting couch? Also, as a bonus:

Came in to comment but I'll just go with ^^^ this; and ^^^ this too.

When did you start lifting? Just for the month with 5x5? If so, you might want to focus on maximizing your strength gains, building a platform of strength with your existing muscle mass, and not worry so much about adding additional mass just yet. Which is to say, you might stay real content with the low additional weight…

Yeah - I am not sure anything I've had from anyone is honestly worth $10 / pint; there are too many good ice creams and gelatos for less that are outstanding in their own right. But I am OK splurging every now and then to try an interesting flavor. I know I'll buy the Goat Cheese and Red Cherries flavor that dunnodunno…

I bought some 2.5lb ankle/ wrist wraps. Each one has five individual 0.5lb ingots in it, so you can adjust from 0.5lb up to 2.5lb for each wrap. I can wrap them on the BB and like them because they can also be used on dumbbell exercises (where no adjustable dumbbells) and things like dips.

I'm sure yours is cleaner and neater! The Turkish Coffee was pretty good - I was just expecting more "Turkish-ness." However that was a different brand (Mission Hill). This McConnell's is great - I had no idea you could get it in Texas. So far I've tried Choc Covered Strawberries and the Coconut one - both very, very good.…

Our Easter is deferred until next weekend (in-laws traveling this week). Tried McConnell's Toasted Coconut Almond Chip ice cream tonight. Fantastic! Great sweet cream base; both toasted and shredded coconut mixed in (so coconut taste with different textures); almond chips and dark chocolate bits too. This was my best…

Someone in this thread had a dad who, while driving to church one day on or around Easter, commented "There goes Peter Cottontail . . ." (I am too lazy to look back for the quote). (Don't worry - he'll be around tomorrow)

Thanks for the link. That was a very entertaining read!

Tried the BLVD today. The flavor of the Dulce de Leche ice cream was great! Unfortunately, the pint had clearly thawed a great deal and then refrozen. It was only freezer-burned in one small spot, but it seems that the ribbon of caramel I was promised might have settled more towards the bottom -- I didn't have a ribbon in…
