I don't know too much about this. But I do know that the body is not made to breakdown processed foods, or chemicals. Which Diet sodas are full of chemicals and artificial everything. Try eating protein bars, and drinking protein instead of actually eating all your calories, drink some of them too.

Try eating high calorie low fat foods. Granola has tons of calories, but not much fat. Avocado is another one.

You'll probably both do well with some techno/ remixed songs. They have like really fast paced beats to get you moving faster. I myself listen to 90's alternative, I sing along in my head and it keeps my mind off the time, as I usually quit running due to boredom! lol

Try veggie straws! You get 38 straws for 130 calories! I love them I think they're better than chips. My boyfriend even likes them! He hates Veggies! lol. You can dip them in stuff too! I use salsa since it's the lowest calorie dip I can find!

The only advice I can offer is try something new, your body doesn't like doing the same things all the time. Try new things like Volleyball, basketball, tennis, rock climbing, cycling, etc. I'm not sure what your norm is, but do something different. Measure the amount of marinade you discard. and only input the amount absorbed by the meat/ veggies. You can always use quick adds too to just try to "guess" I usually round up for my quick adds though just to be on the safe side. :)

If you want a healthy steady weight loss, then yes it's good to eat back some/most of your calories, If you're hungry. If not then don't. I haven't really found that it changes my weight loss any. But you can hit a plateau from eating too little calories and burning too many.
