  • I understand all too well. I lost 36 lb, my pants are a size 4, I run 7+ miles a day. I look at myself in the mirror or on the pictures, and all I see is fat. There is a part of my brain that tells me I am hideously fat, and that part is the one that looks at all my photos, and all my videos. I figure I need a lot of time…
  • 1. Avoid food waste/too much eating out 2. Get 7 hours of sleep a night 3. Drop another 2-3lb before the end of the month 4. Send out at least one resume a week 1. Another day of eating out successfully avoided. After my 7 mile run last night I went home instead of taco bell with the rest of the crew because of item #2 on…
  • They all look ok, I would choose whichever one floats your boat, the only one I might skip on is the marinated chicken, because I have no idea what they marinate it in. Also, if you're picking the shrimp, ask if there is any flour on it. Other then that, I would ask for no peppers and minimum pico de gallo (my choice,…
  • Able is on the recent episode Living La Vida Low Carb podcast talking about the show and Kurt. What he is saying is that he advised Kurt to cut his carbs way down because Kurt wants to lose weight faster but he cannot work out much due to his injuries. It kind of echoes the advice from Mark Sisson's new book, where he…
  • Wow! congrats! I avoided bagels, doughnuts and all kinds of alcohol this Sunday, but no chocolate, thank goodness.
  • We brought doughnuts, bagels, and drinks to our early morning run club meeting. I ate none of it. The only thing I had was a sip of mimosa (and poured the rest of the cup in someone else's cup). I ate pumpkin pie chia pudding I made the day before, and had fried liver for dinner. Take that, evil carbs.
  • Ok, goals for this week/month: 1. Avoid food waste/too much eating out 2. Get 7 hours of sleep a night 3. Drop another 2-3lb before the end of the month 4. Send out at least one resume a week I did very well last week, and am hoping to see the positivity continue into week 3. This weekend I may have an issue with a day…
  • I didn't know anemia could be a symptom of celiac? That explains a few things. The more I learn about the symptoms the more I realize that I probably have it, but like @KnitOrMiss I wouldn't bother actually testing for it.
  • 1. Minimize restaurant trips and food waste. 2. In bed by 10:30 pm 5 days a week. 3. Drop 3-5 lb this month. 5. Re-double my new employment finding efforts. Send out at least one resume by Saturday and two over the weekend. Only one restaurant visit this weekend, so I'm doing good there. I've had some really early nights…
  • My size 6 Calvin Klein work pants are not even bothering to stay up on my hips anymore. After about an hour today they were sliding down and I spent the whole day yanking them up and sadly staying at the saggy material. Well, those are going right into the Goodwill pile.

  • It is a farce, and wow at all the maneuvering by the HPCSA. I can hear them screaming 'Burn the witch!' from here.

  • It really depends on what you think is fun. When I lived up in the Great Frozen North (Chicago) I went to the gym twice a day in the winter because it was the only place I was truly warm. I would run, lift weights, do a group class and spend a blissful half an hour in the hot tub. It was worth the money I paid for the…
  • You remind me of my best friend who I haven't seen for a year... "My name is Nancy, and I am beautiful!"
  • Some of the stress from last week and the cold that laid me out disappeared, so here are my goals to which I am re-committing with renewed strength: 1. Minimize restaurant trips and food waste. 2. In bed by 10:30 pm 5 days a week. 3. Drop 3-5 lb this month. 5. Re-double my new employment finding efforts. Send out at least…
  • 1. Minimize restaurant trips and food waste. If a restaurant can make it, so can I, and Starbucks is becoming a bad habit lately. No more than two trips a week excluding Sunday breakfast and coffee stop. 2. Better sleeping habits - In bed by 10:30 pm 5 days a week. 3. Drop 3-5 lb this month. Usually I am not about weigh…
  • I get the 'how can you be a runner without carbs?' question from a lot of friends in the running community. The answer is, easily, I don't bonk.
  • I have been sick. My throat is scratchy and I am not feeling well. Yesterday I wanted to use it to justify a major cheat, but instead had a few ounces of cheese and hard salami with liver pate. Went over my calories, but stayed within the carbs.

  • Ask them not to dust it with flour. I went there a few weeks ago, printed out their gluten-free menu then got the nutritional facts from FatSecret.
  • 1. I've gone to Starbucks four times this week, but it's because I have gift cards. Free coffee. 2. I've been sick with a cold this week. Didn't sleep well for about three days (I was in bed by 10, but not sleeping), but yesterday I collapsed into bed at 7 pm slept until 6 am today. 3. I've been good with not cheating, but…
  • Hmmm. I would disagree with the good doctor. A lot of other things happened in the 70's, like the advent of GMOs in our food supply. I would say that our obesity is not due to one variable (PUFAs), but to many - advent of frankenfoods, proliferation of corn syrup and soy in EVERYTHING, PUFAs, less movement, bigger portion…
  • Apparently, egg. And I'm ok with that.
  • I remember getting giant boxes of girl scout cookies while I was overseas. A lot of my buddies enjoyed the heck out of them, so thank you on their behalf.

  • Am I the only person who didn't find this funny? I don't see real wit, only snark and sarcasm. The writer (admittedly) half-assed a diet without researching it properly, then spent an article badmouthing the whole diet, because life without carbs is so HARD (and she, apparently, can't cook). And, of course, the…
  • I stick tough cuts in the slow cooker. Last week I bought two 3 lb chunks of beef, stuck one in plastic bag with olive oil, salt, garlic, onion powder, and rosemary for 24 hours, then seared it and put it in the slow cooker. Came out delicious.
  • I just wish my brain would quit arguing with my eyes, lol.

  • Honestly, I am attributing it to vanity sizing. I put them next to a juniors size 7, and they are only slightly smaller. However, I also have body image problems, and I don't tend to see myself correctly. The other day my SO and I were at the beach, and I was talking about getting a bikini for next Summer. I pointed out a…

  • I am very envious of those who have local butchers and farm-fresh meat and eggs. I whole-heartedly believe in organic, grass fed, happy cows, but unfortunately my wallet can only afford GMO-fed, antibiotic-full, sick and tortured feed lot cows, so I will just eat what I can afford now and aim for cleaning that part of my…
