  • Good luck! Also, I read this the other day that is can help to have a range with a low end (an attainable goal that still requires the effort, and therefor still imparts the feeling of accomplishment) and high end that is attainable, yet challenging (example, "I want to loose between "5 and 8lbs in the next..." Either way,…
  • I'm trying to acclimate to cold temperatures so I don't wuss out/ know what to expect next winter, which I'll be spending in Minnesota. Also, if you're not worried about looking silly, I just found a 15 minute long song and just ran in place and did jumping jacks until the song was over, then found a 5 minute song and did…
  • YOU. LOOK. AWESOME. I'm 5'2'' and started at 180 and my goal is 115-110ish. You're story is exactly the kind of motivation I needed today- thanks so much for sharing!!
  • Really wonderful! What does NSV mean?
  • I'd really like it if this place weren't dead. I mostly listen to Industrial, Deathrock, all kinds of metal, some punk (mostly the Misfits, the Ramones, Dead Kennedy's, that era)... also the Knife (Swedish Electronica group). My boyfriend cracks me up- he's about a foot taller than me an lots of muscle, but he always tells…
  • There's a movie called Miss Representation that talks about women in American society, especially in regards to what we teach young women in the media. It's on Netflix.
  • Totally agree with BlueJean... I live in southern Illinois and I have had my tires slashed... twice, within two months, in different towns. I was going through a really big punk-rock phase and had one that said something like "The church of America eats its young".
  • fun lists! It's not the same every time, but these are some go-tos.... Ministry- Jesus Built my Hot Rod Ministry- Filth Pig Slayer- Gemini Slayer- Seasons in the Abyss Iron Maiden- The Trooper Iron Maiden- Run to the Hills White Zombie- Super-Charger Heaven Alien Sex Fiend- I Walk the Line Smashing Pumpkins- Bullet with…
  • Haha thanks for the responses. I'll be renting when I go up there, so I'm looking for places that include snow removal.
  • Sweet; I'm a math major, so I totally empathize. I hope you find something you really enjoy :)
  • It happens to the best of us! Like the last person said, it could just be availability. The other thing is, are you managing stress properly? do you treat yourself for your hard work at school regularly? Some people like to go shopping, go to the movies, or even choose ONE special calorie treat. I personally like to get a…
  • Mathematics; thinking about minoring in space studies or philosophy.
  • Good luck! Have a great day.
  • No. Your son obviously exercises a lot; no matter how fast someone's metabolism is, you won't end up with a six-pack without it. He can eat so much because he a) exercises and b) has muscle from exercise which helps metabolize calories.
  • * feeling dumb, can't figure out how to delete post.
  • I would say tooth-pick affix bacon to banana, THEN freeze. Also, coconut panko tempura.
  • 1.Anything from McDonald's (Specifically. I don't hate the taste of all fast food, but McD's is blaah). 2. BBQ sauce with fake smoke or high fructose corn syrup (again, I like many BBQ sauces, but I absolutely hate super-sweet and fake smoke).
  • I love water, and I drink it pretty well exclusively (ok I also drink a few cups of black coffee a day, and occasionally alcohol). I don't see any point in drinking a set amount of water- I drink it when I feel like it, since you also get water from food and such. Sometimes if I get really hungry but I've just eaten I…
  • I've known two people with hyperthyroidism who have to eat ungodly amounts of food to stay a healthy weight... but I wouldn't trade some of the other effects of hyperthyroidism just for that (insomnia, restlessness, weakened immune system).
  • I work for a woman who eats the Wahls diet for MS... we make a lot of breakfast quinoa with cinnamon, cardimum, and raisins or dried cranberries. She also makes a smoothie with banana and coconut milkwith cinnamon; it's tasty warm or room temperature. I am also lactose intolerant- have you tried goat's milk? It has less…
  • Awesome! I love your attitude- it's great when you get to the point that you're more confident in guess-timating ounces on the go, as well. It's really empowering to start seeing what portions really look like. Good work, keep it up!
  • How inspirational! Your story is exactly why I wanted to join MFP. Stay healthy and strong!
  • First of all, I really wish there was a "like" button on this board! So full of good advice. I was really worried I would over-indulge at Thanksgiving, especially since this is the first year I cooked the whole feast myself- but it was also liberating because I had so much control over the options! We had an Early lunch,…
  • Same here; I lost a bunch of weight running (45 lbs), and then did a number to my back working at a really physical job and couldn't run; actually I could barely walk and gained almost every bit back . I lost my first five lbs at my weigh-in today (29 days), and I want to loose more weight than I did the first time! I'm…
