  • Anytime Pudding!
  • Morning everyone! -Sam- ::Hugs:: I'm so sorry about your grandmother. -A collective passing around of tissues, fever medications, and church appropriate hugs to all the sick ladies out there. I hope you all start to feel better. -Tasha- Welcome to the group! I hope you really enjoy NR! -Pudding- CONGRATS! Cracking 160 is…
  • You guys are really working hard! Mnsmov-I went for a run yesterday as well and ended up passed out on my couch at like 8:30. Your energy levels have me turning green with envy. I wouldn't worry about the shoulder presses like twinmom said. They'll move in their own time. Catdevron-congrats on fitting into those jeans!…
  • DouMc- I went for a run yesterday as well after doing A3. I fell asleep on my couch at like 8:30! These workouts don't look like they'll take a lot out of you but then I try to add in something else and I'm worn down! Pudding1980- One of the tips that I liked the best that's floating around somewhere on MFP is that heavy…
  • BarbellCowgirl this was EXACTLY what I needed! I went on a 2 mile run and hated every single second of it and couldn't imagine doing that run 3-4 days a week. This article really helped me get my priorities in order. The link didn't take me straight to the article and I ended up finding a great body weight tabata workout I…
  • willift4tat-thanks! I'm really trying to stick to my goals and this challenge is really helping dnamouse- your back looks AMAZING! Did A3 last night. For whatever reason I can't get out of those 60 degree pushups. Oh well. I'm going for a run tonight. Hopefully incorporating runs back into my routine will help me get more…
  • mnsmov- You're moving right through stage one! When I first looked at the work outs for new rules I thought they looked really easy. Then I actually did them..... So I completely get 3x10 being harder than 2x12. But you did it! I'm doing A3 tonight (I think?) and I'm really excited. The A workouts are the hardest ones for…
  • From what I've read the smith machine isn't good for you because it limits your range of motion, takes away your bodies need to balance, and works completely different muscles. You may be better off going lighter so you can get the weight on you.
  • Wow you ladies had busy weekends! I hit 2 of my 3 goals. My protein and macros were right but I took an impromptu trip to Philly Saturday so I didn't get to do my walk/run. I'll be a 3/3 this week!
  • Completed B3 (I think) last night. I really want to make sure I give this 100% so I decided to watch my form in my hall mirror. Thank goodness I did! I've been doing dumbell shoulder presses wrong this entire time! I did the sets over and really felt a difference. I've seen a lot of progress in my body since starting NR in…
  • You are absolutely okay to squat dumbells before switching over to the barbell. That's how I used to do them. You won't progress as quickly or see as quick a change in your body but they will still work. With the step up I've found that when I increase the height I have to work my way back up to the heavier weights. Prone…
  • Did A2 last night. I actually should have done this workout last week but my first one was so hard that I avoided it. I decided to stop being such a pansy and actually get the workout done and I'm so glad I did. When I did A1 I couldn't do all the reps and even had to lower the weights that I was doing them with. This time…
  • Great progress! Are you eating as many calories as the book is telling you to? I'm about 30% bf give or take a few. New Rules is the second lifting program I've done so I came in to this with the beginnings of definition but I'm definitely seeing it continue now. I said I was going to do the first half of the program…
  • I'd like to join in too if I can! I've been posting on the stage one board and it's like talking to yourself in an empty auditorium over there. I'm doing 1A3 tonight and I'm not excited. That thing is hard! I'm really trying to get these muscles popping before summer though so I'm dealing with it. I'm following the calorie…
  • Did you follow the eating plan as well?
  • Completed my first week. Now that I've gotten over my abject terror of the workouts I'm ready to go ahead and tackle this weeks three workouts full steam ahead. I've joined the challenge in the daily discussion thread and my goals are to complete the three workouts this week, hit my calorie goals, and go walking/running on…
  • I'd like to join the challenge! My goals are 1- complete the 3 workouts a week 2-eat at or below my calorie level and hit my protein macro 3- go walking slash running every saturday and sunday weather permitting. Have a great week ladies!
  • bumping for the inspiration and awesomeness
  • It's funny. When I looked at workout A I thought to myself "You've been doing the lifting thing for 2 and a half months. This will be a piece of cake" I read the past posts on stage one and STILL thought "You've been doing the lifting thing for 2 and a half months. This will be a piece of cake". If workout A is what cake…
  • Seriously? Creep 101. Seriously though?
  • I'm probably talking to an empty room here but that's okay since I love the sound of my own voice lol. I'm starting nrol4w tonight. I'm going to pick up my step and hopefully my barbell tonight because I'm really sick of using my easy curl bar as a sub. If I start the program today I'll be finished at the end of September…
  • Thank you so much for this! When I was reading the book upping my calories intuitively made sense even before I read his reasons for it (plus I just wanted a good reason to eat more food). At this point I am just trying to burn the fat covering the muscle I have while taking small steps towards building those muscles. I…
  • I've been lurking on this thread for a while I hope you don't mind if I jump in. I'm starting stage 1 on Monday and while excited about eating more I'm also terrified that I won't lose anything and never have the body I want. It's silly because this will actually be the second weight training program I do and I was seeing…
  • You may have moved up too fast. I would back off the weight a little and then move back up in a week or two
  • Hi!!!!! I'll be starting the program on Monday and I'm really excited. I was doing a program that I found on bodybuilding.com and while it's given me so decent results I'm bored mindless. I did the same two workouts four times a week for two and a half months. These 7 different phases are like a gift from the gods. I'll be…
  • In for the awesomeness! I did some lazy lifting and still got results that I was really proud of. I'm starting New Rules of Lifting for Women next week and have upped my calories and am going to invest in protein powder. Definitely going to do this the right way!
  • The first because the class advisor of the Christian school I attended said no smoking no drinking and no tattoos during senior trip, so I promptly did all three in reverse order. The second because I love betty boop and the song "tatted up" was reaching its pinnacle. I have ideas for my next three which I'll probably…
  • bumping this for extra inspiration when I start NROLFW in two weeks
