  • My goal is to run/walk a half marathon next April, so I assume it will take me 2 years too. I'm in
  • Hey there! Im from Putaruru NZ, add me as a friend if you like :) Debbie :)
  • I personally track calcium, and I always try to go over with that. I think as long as you as sensible with what you want to go over with (eg your goals of protein and fibre) then I think you are making the right choice.
  • Alcohol :drinker: and Cheesecake! :glasses:
  • I'm a boredom snacker too. If my husband is not home in the evenings I find myself standing in front of the fridge or pantry trying to find something/anything to eat. From the message I have discovered things like apple with peanut butter, celery with peanut butter, 70% cocoa chocolate, etc. They are the sort of thing that…
  • I supported a friend through PND and she felt that a walk every day was helpful. It meant she had a reason to get out of the house - even if things felt lik they were spinning out of control. You don't have to go out for hours, but even putting the kids in the buggy and walking around the block may help. Good luck and…
  • I had Sultana Bran with skim milk and 100mls of Greek Yoghurt. I love it - and either have that or Special K with the milk and yoghurt
  • Once a fortnight. I don't own scales, so have to use a friends and she definately does not want me knocking on her door at 6am in my birthday suit wanting to weigh! :embarassed:
  • You look fabulous - well done!
  • My friends brother in law was diagnosed with two types of cancer in January. My friend and I started swimming and she got on the weight loss train straight away, but it took me another month before I was game enough to weigh myself. When I did I was shocked. But it still took me 10 days to actually bite the bullet and…
  • I work a cookie or two, or some chocolate into my diary most days. It what keeps me sane and on track. I'm sure over time I wont need them as much, but I'm still losing and am happy with my progress so it works for me. Try a couple of weeks with a cheat meal/day and see what happens - what works/doesn't work for you might…
  • I'm in NZ and have started going out either in the mornings or in the late afternoon. It is colder, but I'm using it as motivation to move faster! The other thing I thought I might do is swimming at the warm pools in the next town. I don't plan to hire any equipment.
  • Have you had food high in salt - and then lots of water, which may have added water weight? Did you weigh at the same time in approx the same clothes? Is your period due?

  • I think I would do a test period (say 1-2 weeks) where you ate some of the extra calories and see what happens with your weight loss.
  • Just wanted to add that if I exercise too early in the day I'm starving and want to snack all day. If I do it at night I'm about to go to bed, so I don't have the same hunger issues
  • I only really have the time at night too. I walk for 30-60 minutes a night (or do once a week strength training), then come home, shower, have a small snack and then relax for an hour or so before bed and I have no issue with sleeping. In fact I can't remember the last time before this that I slept so well.
  • Does it really matter if you let yourself have one thing every day (or every second day). As long as you are under calories, you are making a difference. If I dont have a cookie once a day in the afternoons I will go into overdrive later and binge. I work it into my calories and compared to the way I used to eat I figure 1…
  • Hi my name is Debbie and I'm obsessed too! I LOVE putting my calories in, and it makes my day when I make the right choices (and the odd not so good one), but still come under calories. I guess I'm showing myself that I don't have to miss out on a thing, I just have to plan (or wpork out extra harder!). I was lying in bed…
  • I agree with you there jrusso. I am doing this for weightloss, but I'm mostly doing it to be healthy and fit. For my kids, for my husband and for myself. I don't want to miss out on playing with my kids or going for a swim because I'm self concious. Nor do I want to miss out on their adult lives because I'm dead! The…
  • Well done! Thats awesome. I've lost 14lbs and I can notice it too. Funny how any amount makes a real difference! Keep up the fabulous work :)
  • I read a post when I first started that said you can use your calories for fruit/veg and general dood food, or you can use it for a burger (or whatever takes your fancy), but its like putting low octane gas in a high octane car - it will still go, just not as well. Apparently you will lose weight, but your heart,…
  • I was scared too, but the only way I could improve me was to see the first number - which incidentally was worse than I thought it was going to be! - and then go from there. I've only made small losses so far, but its in the right direction, and I could be stricter on my self, but this is my journey. The best thing is, I…
  • I have a relaxed day on a Saturday, but I make sure I exercise a wee bit harder or longer to make up for it. Its usually so I can have a few glasses of wine! I also stay within my calories, but it might not be a healthy choice as such
  • Often its Saturday, as thets usually drinks night with the girls. I do log all I eat and drink though and am often just under my calories, so I guess I'm learning something!

  • I'm a mum to 4 too. Aged from 7 to almost 2 years. I've only just started too, and have a long while to go, but I'll get there! Feel free to add me
  • I drink my water from a glass - it means I drink much more than just sipping from a bottle.
  • Choc chip cookiea. I have 2 a day. They keep my sweet cravings toned down, and it means I can make it through the day without gorging on something really bad!
  • I hadn't thought about goals either, but I do like the idea of weighing less than my husband. We are the same height at 5 foot, 8 inches, but he only weighs 95kg (210 pounds). I have a long way to go, but I like that idea!
  • I'm good at drinking water but a bit slack at the fruit and veg - but I'm trying! I've only just started, so will keep your thoughts in mind - Thanks!
  • Congrats on your awesome loss so far Steve. I have a mother who was very large when I was growing up. She ended up having Gastric Bypass Surgery about 15 years ago and then had it reversed 3 years later (but has managed to keep the weight off). She tells me how easy it is to lose weight and that I shouldn't find it so…
