OP...I'm sorry you're having a hard time with Atkins. I would encourage you to give it one more shot, but this time, go back and read the book! Start over, but with a serious commitment to NOT CHEATING. I haven't looked at your diary, but I think if you have a day or weekend where you eat whatever you want---don't go…

Seriously, to the OP, I DID try Weight Watchers, and energy balance diets, and finally hit on Atkins more than 2 years ago. I've lost weight, feel great, and have made this my permanent way of eating. I don't like to judge anyone else for their diet choices, because everybody loses weight differently. This works for me.…

I was on Weight Watcher and lost weight. Eventually, I started back to my old eating habits, and I gained it all back and then some. Weight Watchers doesn't work. It's a fad. It's a myth. And I know this because I did it, and I gained all the weight back that I had lost and more! It had nothing at all to do with me not…

My husband make's a wonderful mixture that we call Cheesy Chicken. It's SO so so easy. Put chicken breasts (diced or whole) in a dutch over with seasoning salt, maybe a little olive oil, and cook at 350 for about 2-3 hours. Shred chicken (if it was whole). Add about a cup of cheese, a little half-n-half. Then eat over…

I lost 67 pounds over about 9 months and ate an Atkins bar for snack every night. Now, my weight loss has slowed, so I'm considering weaning off of the bars, unless I'm in a pinch, like someone above mentioned. I really don't think the bars are the problem for me, but I need to figure out what the trigger is. I tend to…

I've been doing Atkins, and keeping my carbs at around 20 (net) for over 2 years. It is a complete lifestyle change, and I've learned the hard way, for myself at least, that I simply can not cheat. I cheated for my birthday a few weekends ago, and I just got back to my weight this morning. Having birthday cake, and…

I like that quote!

Also, they made me snore, according to my husband :)

I'm on Atkins. I tried the Dreamfield, and found that it stalled my weight loss. I enjoyed them, but it looks like I can't have them until I'm in maintenance phase. Also, I read somewhere, that you're supposed to cook them "al dente", meaning so that they're harder.

bump for later :)

Are you following a specific plan? I stick to Atkins, and I'm at 20 net carbs a day--total carbs will vary between 40-60, depending on the food. Investigate different low carb plans to see what works for you, because these will be life-style changing. You'll want to live with this forever. Atkins, South Beach, Paleo-Primal…

So, I went out and bought a heart rate monitor. Tried it out at Zumba last night. My husband told me I'd either be very happy or very disappointed. I said I would be happy if I got up to 350 calories burned an hour. Nope....730! And, never having used the HRM before, I accidentally stopped the timer for 2 songs, so I…

Guess you never even read the book...

To me, the benefits outweigh the difficulty with Atkins. I feel better, more energetic. I'm never hungry. I don't crave junk food. I've found places I can go out to eat that support low-carb diets--several burger chains offer a low-carb option without the bun and "special sauces" or ketchup--so I can eat with my family. My…

I do Atkins! You'll do fine, though Atkins really pushes exercise, too. I have my settings to read carbs, fiber, protein, fat and sugar (and calories). Good luck!
-
I have been thinking about getting a HRM for Zumba, because I've been going for 3 years, and have no idea how many calories I'm burning. Can you or anyone tell me about their HRM, how much they cost, what kind to get (arm or wrist), and if they are accurate?

You're a beautiful girl, White Rose, and I would love to have the body you show in your before pictures. Atkins is a healthy way to eat, but whatever you choose, choose to eat healthy and exercise!
-
You are thin, so you probably wouldn't benefit from losing any more weight, but it is a good way to eat: healthy vegetables, lean meats, healthy fat.

La Tortilla's low carb is 3 net. It's low, but I still try to limit to one every couple of days.
-
I also buy La Tortilla Factory. I discovered that they have a few other flavors, like garlic & onion, and an herb one. You have to sacrifice an extra carb, but they're pretty good.

I also buy La Tortilla Factory. I discovered that they have a few other flavors, like garlic & onion, and an herb one. You have to sacrifice an extra carb, but they're pretty good. I had the pleasure of trying Joseph's low carb pita...but my local Walmart quit carrying it. >_>

The trick to a low carb diet, is finding variety in your foods, so you don't get bored and start eyeing that pizza place across the street. There are groups on here that share recipes, and a site called Linda's Low Carb (?) that a lot of people go to for new recipe ideas. You can eat a chicken salad for lunch every day,…

You look great!

This is all very encouraging. Thank you, ladies! I am a DD right now, and big breast run in my family. I think the cellulite was all my fault--can't blame my mom for that! But, one of my goals for 2013 is to up my exercise from 2 hours a week to at LEAST 3, and hopefully I can add muscle and hide the cottage cheese.

I'm in! I need all the encouragement I can get! I thought I was almost there, until I jumped on the scale, and OMG, did not like what I saw!

LOL! No, I'm in Colorado. We don't have those stores.

I've looked at all the surrounding Wal-marts, and haven't found it. I might write a request to the manager and see if they can start ordering them again. Of course, I made several request to Sam's Club to start carrying a certain type of Atkins Bar, but they ignored me. I gave up. In related news....I found a low-carb…

I had the low carb Pita from Joseph's exactly once, and then my stupid Wal-Mart quit carrying it. I keep looking, but haven't found it again. I hate Wal-Mart. They do that all the time.

Actually, we're talking about the good healthy carbs that come from vegetables and fruits. The carbs from things like pasta and rice tend to make you feel hungrier sooner. Low carb diets satiate.

Are all of you talking about total or net carbs? I try to stay at 20 net carbs, but I believe the total carb count per day for me would be in the 50's.
