For me I burned more calories on the treadmill then the elliptical, but I think that would all depend on how fast you are going and if you are using an incline.

When I was pregnant I got a lot of leg cramps in my calf, the doctor said to increase potassium. I started eating lots of bananas and it helped. Not sure if the pain you are having is the same. hope you figure it out.

i think the whole point behind chewing so many times is just a way to make you take your time eating. I know with my daughter, she will finish a plate and be ready to run for seconds saying she is still starving. And i have to make her wait to allow the food to make it to her stomach. lol

ice.. when my knees are hurting (which is often lately) I will ice them. Also using icy hot helps some. i don't have much trouble with my back. i went to the doctor last week about my knee and he advised me to take some time off from running because i'm putting to much stress on the joints.
