  • Whatever fits your calories and what you like the taste of. Personally, I like to use zero calorie sweetener so I can use those calories elsewhere. NEITHER are bad.
  • Legendary Abs. The book isn't published any more (sadly) but you can find pdfs of it crawling around the web Here's an amazon link
  • I love Asian clothing styles. Asian people have smaller frames, so the clothes run smaller than American sizes. IF I am the proper weight, I can fit into Asian clothes just fine as I am a tiny person. So, losing weight to fit into the clothes that I want to wear.
  • Whatever works best for you! That said, I like to work out first thing in the morning because: 1 - It really wakes me up 2 - When I get home from work and am tired, I don't want to lift weights/run. If I've already lifted/run before work, I can just come home and relax!
  • How long have you been using your Fitbit? It has a break-in period where it learns to adjust your calorie burn over time looking at your weight and your calorie intake. I'd give it a month to get to know you. I track my calories differently than most people. I looked at how many calories I burned, on average, for three…
  • Two threads with the same topic. I'll reiterate what I said in the other. I don't take *kitten* from people. If they want to make negative comments about a positive change I'm making in my life, then they have no business being in my life. Yes, they may be family, but family should be supportive of you genuinely working to…
  • I'm a very "this is how I am, take it or leave it" type of person. I never feel shame for who I am/what I'm doing with my life. I regularly tweet about my weight loss. I answer (reasonable) questions from people. When people are obnoxious though, I usually give them a curt, honest answer and that generally shuts them up.…
  • Weight fluctuation is completely normal. Even if you're not trying to lose/gain, your weight will vary from day to day. If it's that discouraging I recommend one of two things: 1) Do not weigh yourself daily, espcially if you're expecting the scale reading to go down every single day. 2) Use a weight-tracking app that…
  • I've never used one but here are my thoughts: You won't see a significant increase in calorie burn because you will still be mostly stationary. However, it will help your back a lot because you're not sitting all day. You'll probably be shifting weight from leg to leg/moving a bit so you won't get as stiff throughout the…
  • Started January 1 with 50 pounds to lose by Christmas. Just hit my half-way point two weeks ago. I'm projected to hit my goal sometime in October.
  • I have a Fitbit and, after the initial break-in period where it adjusted to me, I use that number to guide me. I burn, on average, 2100cals/day and I told MFP that I was going to eat 1600 calories/day to have a 1 pound/week loss. I have my Fitbit account linked so that my Fitbit knows my calorie intake, but I completely…
  • The first time I lost, I would lose a little bit every day (yay!). Now I'm losing the same 30lbs again (boo!) but this time, I don't lose any weight for 10-14 days at a time, then drop 1.5-2 pounds overnight. But, during those 10-14 days, I notice my pants will feel a little looser. So yes, this happens quite a bit.
  • Step 1: Fire PT.
  • I have a Fitbit and I eat back 95% of the calories it gives me and I've lost 25lbs since New Years. Weigh everything, log everything. be patient. And don't make blanket-statement posts.
  • I average about 13,000 steps/day according to my Fitbit (Charge 2). Then, I look at my average calories burned (again from Fitbit) over the same amount of time: 2160 cals/day. Using the Fat2fit TDEE calculator, that puts me just under moderately active (2192 cals/day). On the days I get about 10,000 steps (weekends…
  • While eating at maintenance is fine, still count calories, weigh your food, monitor your weight. Eating food when you "feel hungry" and not logging is why a LOT of people are here to begin with.
  • I love just walking right up to a cow and gnawing on it. No more processed steaks for me!
  • Thought of something that just started happening to me recently: Overweight people give you dirty looks.
  • I eat after as I get those nasty rib cramps if I do any exercise after eating. But it's completely up to you. Neither has any particular health benefit.
  • OMFG! "angry old man"! I can't stop laughing! I agree with you OP, about the losing calories as you lose weight. It's also harder to hit the same calorie burn goal every day because your BMR goes down. At 170lbs, I could hit 2250 calories daily. 30 pounds lighter and it's a struggle to hit 2100.
  • I don't do "cheat" days because they come with guilt. I also found that weekly cheat day just had me undoing all of my progress from the week. I found it better to have the same calorie goal all 7 days of the week. If I know there's a special occasion coming up, I may eat a little less for a few days leading up to it, then…
  • Yes. I don't now how many people I've smiled at from my bike with a big, booger string hanging out my nose. Wipe your nose on your gloves and wash them (buy a few pairs!).
  • Female 5'2" Highest: 170lbs Lowest: 125lbs Current: 142.6lbs Goal: 120-125 (at this point it's down to how I look in the mirror)
  • I have a Fitbit Charge 2 with an HRM included. I let it decide how my heart rate affects my calories. Then, I just eat back the calories it says I've burned. I think that's a lot easier than having an independent gadget and dong a bunch of calculations. If you're asking about just plain exercise calories, most people use…
  • It appears your only choice is to give up sleep time, which isn't healthy. As said above, if you're trying to lose weight, you can do it without jogging. As this is only for another two months, I'd say wait it out until your schedule isn't so crowded. Or, stick a treadmill behind the desk.

  • I weigh daily and use Trendweight.com
  • Trendweight.com. It automatically syncs with Fitbit if you have an account.
  • I use the fat burning method of living my daily life and eating fewer calories than I burn each day.
