Sorry the PA2b title threw me off. I'm Yale, class of 99 grad myself. And the docs I work with trust me implicitly with my job. I am respected, and often they come to me with questions (I'm a hepatology PA and specialize in HCV, cirrhotic management, HCC and transplant). I do NOT assist any MD, and that is NOT what a PA…

"Gimme a break, seriously. The fact that you repeatedly use the term midlevel and feel that you would never diagree with a doctor means that you have bought into the society of medicine. Are there times that MDs know more than me, yep absolutely, but are there times that I know alot more than the MDs. Absolutely! I can…

Sounds like you are working out "Too much". At lesat 2hours a day, and only taking in 1200 calories? You aren't fueling your body right for that type of workout regimen, imo.

If you re-read the OP, the nutritionist made the "rules" regarding caloric intake, not the doctor. Is this an RD or a "nutritonist" (anyone can claim they are a nutritionist). And doctors are not often trained in nutrition. IT really depends on what type of doc is giving out this advice. Doctors do NOT know everything,…

Yes, have heard of Insanity (hard not to on here, LOL!), watched my sister do it a couple years ago and still can't imagine gettign through it myself (-: Thank you, DAniel, that's what I was hoping to hear. Can't wait to give it a spin (-"

P90X got me the arms I wanted. Toned and trim. Pullups, pushups, bicep curls, shoulder presses, tricep dips/kickbacks/skull crushers, shoulder and back flies. I use 8-15lb weights, but started with 3-5lb weights.

I have this problem, mainly with the warmer weather. At the recommendation of my dermatologist, I bought some Panoxyl (10% benzoyl peroxide) from CVS. I use it once a day in the shower and it keeps my shoulders, chest and upper back clear.

As others have said, it completely depends on your height (mainly) and your body frame. For the OP, being 5'10" and 150 is awesome (i can't imagine why you'd want your goal weight to be 125, that's too thin for your height!!) Now at 5'3", I'm very fat when I was 150. I'm in the low 130s (would love to get in the 120s…

Went on a cruise many moons ago with my husband and neither of us gained weight (I think we both lost a pound or two). The food wasn't all that great. It was copious, for sure, but just ok. Just because the food is there doesn't mean you need to eat it (-:

A quick peak at your diet reveals a lot of fairly unhealth food choices. Have you thought of adding more lean protein, fruits and veggies? Less carbs, sweets/processed stuff?

I don't go to a gym. I either go for a run at 5am before I go to work, or I run (treadmill) or do a DVD (P90X currently) after I get home, get the kids (4y, 7y) settled and fed their dinner (I eat later w/ dh when he finally gets home from work). I work out 6-7days a week. My kids go to bed fairly late, so waiting for that…

Did that, thanks!

I'd focus on eating as healthy as possible (lean protein, good carbs, veggies, fruit, etc). I wouldn't eat if I weren't hungry.

I may not be completely understanding your question, but I have a FT4 and use it only for exercise (it's not meant to be used as a basal calorie tracker). I log in every calorie it says I burn during a session of exercise. I don't subtract anything.

Ditto the other poster. And definitely warm up before you break into a run. I like to walk briskly (4mph) for a few mintues before I start jogging, then I start to run. I used to get a "stitch" in my side a lot when I first started up. It's all about getting your body in shape to be able to do so w/o the stitch. It take a…

Please reconsider what you are doing. Yes, I'm sure it works, eating 500-600cals/day is bound to yield amazing weight loss results. but you regained it all, didn't you? So, imo, no it did not work, and very likely screwed up your metabolism to make it even harder to lose weight in the future. Your being a nurse doesn't…

Sorry you aren't getting pats on the back. You inability to see the disservice you are doing to your body and overall health makes me sad. The fact that you lost all the weight the first time AND REGAINED IT when you stopped doing the protocol highlights your lack of insight into a healthy llifestyle. Maybe there is a…

Take a step back and read your post, OP. Do you not see how unhealthy this is? Crisco? A steak day? No cardio?

I LOVE the strenghening workouts that go w/ P90X, including shoulders and arms. Yes, dumbells are a must. I started off with 5, and 8s. Now use 8s, 10s, 15s. You can also use resistance bands (one of the people on the video always uses these for demonstration). The workouts are around 50min long (ab ripper x is also on…

I'm on round 2 of P90X (lean version), and while i haven't lost a lot of weight (i was within 10lb of goal when I started), i've lost ~5lb and have toned up a bit. I am stronger and fitter than ever (I run on the cardio days). I love the structure of the program and the results. I probably will do the classic version for…

Personally, I would work out, shower and go to work. I'd prefer to sleep a bit later, then work out (vs wake up, work out, nap, etc).

String cheese and a handful of nuts Peanut butter on an apple Greek yogurt

I find it easier to workout in the summer, b/c there is more daylight. I get up at 5a to go for a run 2-3days a week (while husband and the kids are still asleep). I do P90X as well, usually in the evenings and if needed, have the AC going.
-
Congratulations! Keep bringing it!!!
-
I'd try to find a friend/neighbor to watch the kids and get that ankle/foot xrayed.
-
Just do it!! I don't think you'll regret it! It's a great program, somewhat time consuming, but love the schedule, and the results. I thought of trying it for years (my sister did it in 2005 with amazing results), but was too nervous. Finally gave it a go Feb 2011 and currently on round 2, wk 7!

It doesn't alter my exercise schedule. If cramping is that much of a problem for you, I would discuss it with your GYN and also consider taking ibuprofen of naproxen for a few days before you expect your period.
-
I do like the P90X Yoga, but wish it weren't so damn long. I definitely feel and see the results . I'm more flexible and strong when I'm doing it regularly. There are modifications you can make until you feel able to do the poses with the video. As Tony says, Do your best, and forget the rest.

It may depend on what are you eating for b'fast. And what is "extremely light"?
-
It involves a lot of pushups, pullups (or similar done w/ bands), weights. I don't have trouble with my wrists and have had no such issues doing P90X, but I don't know about someone w a preexisting wrist problem.
