  • MOst definitely (I lost most of my weight doing WW and very little exercising, this was several years ago. I now exercise 6-7days a week). It healthier fo ryou to do it w/ diet AND exercise, but for the most part, weight loss is defined by your caloric intake.
  • Usually when I'm done the cool down.
  • I wear an HRM and log them in manually. Highly recommend getting an HRM for yourself. I don't burn nearly as much as "they" say I should.
  • Be honest (log everything you put in your mouth). Drink your water, eat your protein, and exercise. Don't expect huge losses. slow and steady, and all that jazz.
  • I've never heard of walking "burning" muscle. You don't need a rest from walking. Rest days generally refer to taking a day off from strength training. that being said, I'd try to up your strength training (maybe cut down walking to 1h to fit in more strength work).
  • LOVE JW and her Xtreme workout video (30min), the ONe on One Circuit Training (60min) and the one you mentioned as well. All are terrific!!
  • Hell yes. Once a week. I love Barilla's Plus pasta. Higher in protein, whole grains, fiber and omega 3's than white pasta (which oddly, I can't stand to eat now). I don't like whole wheat pasta, but the Barilla plus one rocks. I eat ONE serving (which is key), it's all about portion control (-:
  • I don't think Alli helps curb appetite or give you energy. IT alters your body's ability to absorb fat (i believe). It's the low rent version of hte prescription MEridia
  • I totally agree. ANd it (and many "metabolism/weight loss" boosters) really can destroy your metabolism (when you stop the med), leading to more weight gain down the road.
  • Have you tried P90X??
  • exercise while she naps. get some dvds and do yoiur thing.
  • Don't beat yourself up. But don't wait until May 9th either. You can start eating and living more healthily starting now!!
  • Granted, I'm just looking at your diary from yesterday, but you ate more cals in "snacks' than at meals. There is a bit of sugar in there as well. And you burned >1000cals in exercise? Either you're overexercising, imo, or you are overestimating the burn.
  • Weekdays, 6p. Weekends, 8a.
  • Pretty much all my life. Was a skinny toddler/preschooler, had my tonsils out (not sure how this has to do w/ weight), then gained weight. Was literally obese in HS and college (5'3", 185lb at my heaviest). Lost 50lb senior year (by switching from reg coke to diet coke, decreasing snacking and starting to exercise). Have…
  • I take a chewable D3 from Vitafusion. fwiw, most people can't get enough D from sun exposure, and it's being linked to a number of maladies.
  • If I didn't work out at home, I'd never work out. I run on the treadmill (outdoors on weekends and on weeknights if husband gets home while it's still light out) I do dvds - P90X, Jackie Warner for strengthening/toning
  • That sounds about right, sorry. But better to know the more accurate burn than to overestimate!! And yeah, the more weight you lose, the more in shape you get, the fewer calories you burn!
  • I'm doing the Lean schedule and didn't see much until wk 8. Finished round 1 and definitely see differences!
  • I have my treadmill set up so I can watch shows online (i use my laptop). I actually look forward a bit to running b/c it means i get to watch tv (i like glee, castle, good wife, off the map). I run for the entire length of the show, ~40-50min. I could NOT do the treadmill if it weren't for the tv. I can plug my laptop…
  • Strength training, weights. Jillian Michaels, Jackie Warner DVDs. Pushups and pullups. All make for good upper body toning! I've found P90X to be great in this area as well!
  • I don't go to a gym. I own a treadmill, so I either run indoors (or outdoors, weather and childcare permitting). and I do DVDs several times a week, was doing Jackie Warner workouts, now doing P90X. It works.
  • It sounds like you're reacting to something, time to figure it out (eat an apple and see what happens, etc). fwiw, my sister and dad both have that happen when they eat an apple. i get it when i eat pineapple.
  • Just finished Round 1. No significant weight loss (about 4lbs, I'm now 6lb from goal), but definitely saw improvement in toning (esp upper body) and strength. I did the LEAN version, but subbed Plyo for Cardio X (which was just too easy for me). I also run twice a week.

  • IMHO< if it's something you've always done regularly, you don't count it as "exercise". I also don't really get the concept of driving a vehicle ==> burning calories.
  • Personally, I don't think 15-20min of cardio is enough. I'd aim for 45 min of cardio 3times a week, alternating with weight/circuit training on the other days.
  • You'll literally pee out excess vitamin C. There are NO studies to support megadosing of vitamin C or it's ability to ward off or fight infection. There is some link to Vitamin D and immune system strength, however.
  • Do this all the time. Some sources say it's better this way (and you're more likely to burn fat this way, but who knows). There are some exercises (like running, plyo), that I cannot fathom doing with food in my stomach.
  • Yep, pineapple does this to me. So bummed, b/c I love pineapple!!
  • Weights are a must. Pushups are great too. It's hard for women to "bulk up" through weight lifting, so I wouldn't worry about that!!
