What were you doing in the past to lose the weight with MFP? How many calories? Do you know what your TDEE is? If I know that, maybe I can give you some suggestions for making your lifestyle changes more sustainable this time around.

Exactly! Check out my diary and see that I eat sugar every day. Unless you have an endocrine disorder, such as diabetes, where your body cannot process sugar properly, then there is no medical reason to avoid sugar entirely. Make sure most of your carbs are from fruits and veggies and grains for the vitamin/mineral/fiber…

You can eat all the "best," "good," and "healthy" foods, avoid all of the "bad" and "unhealthy" foods and be the most committed gym member ever, but if your not in a caloric deficit, you will not lose weight. I gained weight doing what you're doing because I was just eating too much fish, chicken breast, vegetables, etc.…

Wrap a filet in aluminum foil with crushed pineapple, some tomato sauce, diced bell peppers and onion. Season with crushed red pepper (if you like spicy), ginger, garlic, and black pepper. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Open the foil a bit and bake an additional 5 minutes. If you get fresh fish, it will have less of that…

It depends entirely on your goals. If you just want the number on the scale to go down: Not important at all, you can eat pure sugar, stay in a calorie deficit and lose weight if you REALLY wanted to. If you want to be leaner and reserve the muscle mass you currently have so you're not skinny but flabby once you meet your…

Same here. I have another ten-fifteen pounds to lose, but at this point, I look pretty damn good. I'm less concerned about staying in a deficit every single day and I'm more comfortable eating at maintenance many days out of the week. I reach my end goal when I get there. I'm not constantly thinking about it anymore. It…

Absolutely. I believe in it, because it is true. There is never a time when a person would be in a caloric deficit that they aren't losing weight. In situations where people have severely under-active thyroids or other medical problems, they may have to eat a very small amount of food to create a deficit, but a deficit is…

11:00pm! I'd be asleep by midnight for sure and I would get at least 7 hours of sleep. I usually end up in bed around midnight though because I don't get home until 11 on weeknights.

True and false. False that eating quality foods would reduce the need for weight loss. You can eat all "quality" foods but eat them to excess and be an unhealthy weight as well as have health problems associated with obesity (like I did). However, it is true that for health and well being it is important to have an…

My maintenance calories are around 2300 because I have a very physical job in a warehouse and I'm always going out and moving around on weekends. My best friend works at a desk all day and sits on her couch all weekend. I imagine her maintenance calories will be a whole lot less than mine. Other people's maintenance…

If you like to snack at night, why try to change it? I try to allow myself calories in my days just for night snacking. It's midnight and I'm eating ice cream as I type this. I do snack less often at night now that I've gained self-control over my eating, but I sure do like to do it from time to time. It's kind of related…

We have the same name. Take a look at my profile to see what I've been doing to lose 50lbs so far. I eat a lot because I am very active at work. figuring out how much energy you actually use every day will be the most help in setting a calorie goal to work toward. It's admirable if you want to eat "clean," but don't…

I manage it by baking!!! :) I give away most of what I bake or I wrap things in individual servings and freeze them OR I find low calorie recipes and have fun trying new things.

I had issues with this at first, so I would eat sparsely throughout the day and save the bulk of my calories for night time. It let me snack, but I was able to stay in control of my calories. I slowly worked myself to a point where I was eating more throughout the day and snacking less. Like everything else in life,…

Most drugs do not cause weight gain. Most of the drugs weight gain is blamed on causes increase in appetite or water retention; however, there are some drugs that alter certain hormones or your thyroid, which is responsible for metabolism, so the person may actually gain weight due to the medication. My friend's niece is…

Just a curious poll. 1.) Do you eat breakfast? Most of the time I have at least a 150 calories coffee with sugar and whole milk. 2.) How much weight have you lost? nearly 50lbs. 3.) Personally, do you think breakfast helps w/ metabolism or no? Why? Nope! Because science. It takes your body a few days without enough…

Both are false. Your body has both fat and muscle. The two are comprised of different types of cells (adipocytes for fat and myocytes for muscle) one cannot become the other. As you lose fat, the muscle you already have becomes more noticeable. Eating too little does not prevent you from losing weight. Your metabolism WILL…

It's not too late, it takes the body a couple of days to go into a catabolic (breaking down) state. If you eat too little while losing weight, you will lose both muscle and fat. The more you eat while losing, the less muscle and the more fat you lose.

You're exactly correct. A lot of reporters see a correlation study and decide to make a quick story with X caused Y! when there is truly no evidence to suggest that either one caused the other at all. There is simply a correlation. The public is far too trusting of the media's interpretation of studies (and the media in…

It has no calories and so it has zero effect on weight. It could cause stomach bloating from the carbonation if you drink too much, but not weight gain. I say YAY! Because sometimes I need a little caffeine to stay awake in school at night after working all day and I'll be damned if I'm giving up 250 calories of delicious,…

I would tell them to take it one step at a time. Start b eating one less snack a day or eating smaller portions with one meal. Don't try to change your entire diet and start exercising for an hour a day all at once. Eat the foods you LOVE but teach yourself how to eat smaller portions.

Success can only last if we continue to follow all of the changes we've made to lose the weight in the first place. I can see how it can be difficult to stick to an exercise regime that you don't really want to, or if you were following a very restrictive diet and finally cave and eat all the foods you've been missing;…

It absolutely does! And it can only have so much pus and bacteria in it. . . so if one batch has too much, they mix it with another batch that has a lot less. . . so it evens out! Whoo!! Knowing this, I am not deterred. I will keep on drinking milk.

I disagree. I have a very open an honest relationship with my boyfriend and we can talk about anything. Each relationship is different and not all women want a man to tell her what she "wants to hear" instead of blatant honesty. I outright asked my boyfriend if he found me attractive still and he gave me an honest answer…

If you can eat at chain restaurants, you should be able to find nutrition info. I like to ask for a container right away and save half of my higher calorie meals for lunch the next day. You'll spend less money AND eat less AND have delicious food. Win-win-win.

My all-time favorite is pepperoni and pineapple. I don't like the ham in your typical Hawaiian pizza. . . I always ask them to substitute pepperoni. I'm totally making some pizza soon. OR alfredo sauce instead of tomato sauce with some basil, mozzarella, crushed red pepper and parmesan on top. Maybe some spinach with that…

I try to get at least 1900 calories and I aim to average about 2300 daily by the end of the week. (25yrs/148lbs/5'4"/0.5-1lbs per week) I have an active job and I am always moving on the weekends. What you should be eating will depend on your activity level. If you are biking an hour a day, on top of strength training, you…

If you haven't realized this yet, EDs are not so much about weight as they are about control. All of your guidelines give you very specific control over yourself via your body/weight. To trluy recover, you will have to be willing to set aside all of your "guidelines" and learn ways to give up control over yourself. You…

In for the fiber and iron! I made a goal yesterday to incorporate 3 servings of beans into my diet each week. I like them, I just don't know of any good recipes for them.

If your activity level is set at "sedentary," ythe system sees that you need to eat less than 1200 calories to lose 2lbs per week, BUT 1200 is about the minimum you can eat and be healthy so MFP won't give you an amount less than that. From personal experience, eat more-lose slower. You'll make better progress than giving…
