  • A small update from me - so much so for the accuracy of my numbers. Quite an embarrassing confession to make but in the midst of all the conversions from kg to pounds (which I do for this forum and a couple of others), I had my calculations set up as 3500 cals = 1kg, not 1 pound. So my rate of loss the past 4 months was…
  • @Nony_Mouse, hope your eczema's getting better. I have experience of prednisone through my son when he was a toddler. He received a very high dosage for an extended period of time, had the typical moon face and did put on weight but that was because I was stuffing food in him every few hours lol. (Had to make sure he kept…
  • @heybales, thanks for the awesome post and detailed explanation. I think mine's accurate because most of my burn is from steady state cardio. My Garmin does not attribute any burns for weight lifting and hardly anything for steps outside of purposeful exercise. It also adjusts my burn downward for cardio (which I always…
  • I am loosely following a refeed approach and go over with mainly carbs if I need to on that day. Getting enough food in has not been a problem for me even when I eat 3k cals while keeping fats to 50g but I think that's because I usually only eat high when I need to (my refeed days aren't fixed days).
  • Regarding trackers, I've always only ever had a Garmin so I can't compare with other brands but my husband likes his Tom Tom. As for accuracy of calorie burn and using it to gauge TDEE, I find it very accurate for me personally. They have several data inputs for calculating burns including HR (which is good because I've…
  • @Luna3386, I'm lucky in that I don't really have problems and it just comes when it comes. A bit like @VintageFeline but I'm not on the pill and my cycle is not that regular. Thanks for the tip on the app. Will check it out. Hope the female triad issues resolve themselves soon. I read that you had some good news in your…
  • @Christine_72, interesting, never thought to use an app at all. @bioklutz, I have not gotten cramps since my 20's. I'm also of an age (46) where I need to watch out for perimenopause but don't think I've got any symptoms yet. I also don't feel any different?!! @collectingblues, yeah too young though I've heard anecdotes…
  • It's not also perimenopause, is it? One of the symptoms is night sweats too. (Night sweats can be due to many things though. Brings back lots of bad memories for me!)
  • I've been lurking but not posting. Each time I'm wanting to post, the thread's moved on to another subject! How are you ladies able to monitor your cycles so well?? I get caught out with TOM each freaking time (think about to start long run and finding TOM's arrived without me having any supplies and no shops in sight cos…
  • So true. I used % to give a sense of what I've been eating, I don't stick to it everyday (some days can be all nutrient dense foods, other days I only have them for breakfast and "junk" for the rest of the day and yet other days where all my pre-planning can be thrown out of the window because I just feel like eating…
  • @Nony_Mouse, @livingleanlivingclean, thanks for the replies and good to know about flexibility. I'm okay with moderation most of the time but not quite 80/20 yet, more like 70/30 and very cautious with trying to improve as that leads to more binges.
  • @Nony_Mouse, definite difference I can see! @VintageFeline, very lucky that you've got no issues with loose skin. I have bad ones on my tummy because of pregnancy weight gain. Incidentally, I love that lifting thread with the progress pics you posted. So inspirational. For those who lift, how "clean" must your diet be? Are…
  • Thank you for all your help and responses, @anubis609. Yes, agree with the overshooting and I know I'll gain but am comfortable with it. (A far cry from my younger years when scale number ruled my world.) What I did learn from this thread was how little muscle we can build in a particular time period so I'm planning to…
  • I do a bulk/cut cycle based around intense training for my ultra and a couple of other races. I cannot sustain such intensity all year round (because it takes a lot of time and I want to do other sports as well). When it reduces, I maintain CI (which at peak will be quite high (above 3k)) and lower it as and when hunger…
  • @GottaBurnEmAll, thanks. Yeah, it's not easy, as you know, and I've had this little problem for 30 years or so... That's why I wanted to post too. Hopefully, it will help someone else reading this thread. I also found the thread on willpower really interesting - I think I (and maybe others) focus so much on making…
  • Yep, that's it! So it's monitoring over time and reverse dieting thereafter :)
  • The plan was to eat at a deficit for the 2 weeks focusing on not having a binge/restrict cycle while at deficit. What I don't know was whether I ended up doing that or eating at maintenance. I loosely tracked macros but prioritised eating what I was really craving for. I considered the plan a success because I didn't have…
  • @CynthiasChoice, great job! Well done on the big loss. A bit of an update from me. The last 2 weeks was supposed to be Refeed Round 2. However, since I was pretty much at goal, I thought I'd do a "modified refeed" in that the main purpose for doing this round of refeed was to really stop the binging. So rather than having…
  • My head hurt-ed with all the statistics and numbers over the past few pages... but the statement in bold struck a chord with me. I always had a "larger" frame than my mom. We are of similar heights (one inch difference - I'm taller at 5'6") and I normally weigh 125-ish and she 120 but as comparison, I wear a shoe size 9…
  • Do listen to everyone here, OP. There is no way you burned 7k calories walking 8 miles. Can you share the name/brand of activity tracker you used? If you have just recently bought it, the tracker may take sometime to calibrate to your specific profile. I've read of cases where individuals have recorded extremely high…
  • EDNOS was under DSM 4. They changed it to OSFED in the 5th revision.
  • Great job explaining the psychological part of anorexia but in order for a formal diagnosis of anorexia nervosa to be made under DSM-5, low body weight is required. You can be diagnosed with OSFED (atypical aneroxia) if at normal or higher weight.…
  • Sure, I asked because you said your primary carer mentioned he didn't want you to get to that low weight again. If I had a sudden weight gain like you experienced, I'd actually be more than just feeling not happy. I'd be really scared that there was something going on with my body medically that would turn out to be…
  • Is there a reason why you need to be at a lower weight? I think from what you've previously said in this thread, you're at 130 pounds which I think for your height is absolutely fine? Perhaps being at a higher weight than say, 5-10 pounds less may be way easier to maintain for your body in the long run (rather than trying…
  • I've also just read the article. Same as what @GottaBurnEmAll said above, not sure if applicable to me. I'm generally in the first column for my height in the table he has and it would be counterproductive for me to attempt to get to the last column for what I'm more keen on doing.
  • Do update us regularly on your progress! I do quite a bit of body weight training (for rock climbing) and I think I've got some decent muscles from this but obviously, not as much as I would have if I was doing a lifting program. Yes, back to the topic of refeeds and diet breaks!
  • Yeah, I've never considered it before because I was afraid that band size would go up while cup size remained the same. What would be the point of that...? I've always been a size B since I was 14 or so (and size 4 US band size I think) but as I said previously, my boobs have shrunk. It was fabulous when I was…
  • Hmm, good idea and will explore it further. I shrank after pregnancy/breastfeeding and never regained original size (which wasn't big to begin with anyway!)... so sad.
  • I'm sorry for continuing on this topic, but is there any way to gain cup size through body recomp? If I ever needed an incentive to start (restart) a weight lifting program, this would be it!
  • Yep, whatever works for weight management in a healthy way and try not to be impatient. Like what @anubis609 mentioned earlier. The risk of changing things up is if what you're trying doesn't work as expected, you might become anxious and start looking at more aggressive or different diets which may then lead you down a…
