  • Do you have a blender ? Lots of kids think smoothies are a treat, which they can be, but you could stock it full with full fat frozen yogurt, lots of fruits and maybe sneak in some veggies! A great way to get in extra calories is to drink them. (Through healthy options, of course). Do you already drink full fat milk in…
  • Do you like quinoa? Or tofu ? Rice and beans? nom nom nom now I've just made myself hungry. Do you know if you're allowed a certain amount of animal protein per day? Just asking because I see you said you can eat cheese. As for weight lifting, everyone at work said my booty looked great when I was really into squats ;D
  • Don't get me wrong, I don't want a stomach as flat as a table top (though I might not complain lol) but I find it frusterating when I see other ladies that work out as hard , or even less than me with flatter stomachs. My jeans fit comfortably, yet when I stand I notice sometimes a little bulge at the waist line . ( no , I…
  • These threads can make me nervous. I'm not a pregnant woman by any means, but please, if your doctor recommends a certain number of calories please do your best to reach it! So many defects can be caused by the mother's malnutrition. If you really think your doctor is off with calorie estimation, find a doctor whose…
  • If you've got the okay from your doctor, and already have quality , supportive shoes, the next thing I would recomend is making sure you are also stretching. I have heard a lot of the tightness and pain people feel in the knee is a result of inadequate quad stretching. I realize you have a patella injury but perhaps this…
  • Thank you everyone for the replies. I get my inches measured once a month, the same time as my body fat percentage. My stomach has been losing inches, but nevertheless the bulge remains. As for my goals, number one is health, which I think I've essentially achieved , and then endurance, which I'm working on but pleased…
  • Most people, myself included, avoid it because it is so high in sugar, but try Fibre One Honey Clusters. If i eat a serving, with half a cup of milk in it and drink water while im eating (otherwise my stomach HURTS) , well let's just say it usually takes care of things for me lol.
  • I believe the difference in calories from now to maintenance is only 270 , so I don't think it will be too hard for me to fill up those calories. arrrgh so anyone? Do I switch to maintenance and keep working on my abs and cardio, and hope this works? or try to shave off another five lbs of fat? If I really am at 18.3% body…
  • I agree with the posts about having the kids prepare their own lunches (obviously the younger one will need your direct supervision and guidance).Even as adult , when I went to college I found eating healthy from the cafeteria to be both expensive and hard to do. I'm sure being younger makes it even more challenging to eat…
  • I eat in this order : breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack, so when I work evenings (usually 3-10, 2-10, or 4-10, something along those lines) I eat my lunch about three hours before my shift starts, and then I bring a reasonable size snack to work to eat right before my shift, to tide me until my dinner break…
  • Ultimately, if there isn't junk in the house , and they are staying active , you would think they would start to lose weight naturally. I agree that you have to approach this carefully, because girls can become obsessed with their weight quite young. I don't think mfp is the way to go if they are under 18 . Also , apart…
  • Thank you everyone for the replies , I definitely think knowledge is power :) mtpkok , what is nrolfw? stupid pooch...*shakes fist*
  • As of jan 31 my waist measured 27.5 inches, my hips are 37 -.-
  • I get my body fat tested once every four weeks , at the same time of day. Usually I've eaten and and drank around the same amount . ( I do this because I'm trying to get as consistent/accurate reading as possible , even if the device is subpar). How else could I test my body fat, realistically ?
  • I'm not sure what its equivalent to but my waist size when I buy jeans now is 26 , depending on the brand.
  • I got it measured by an electronic ( i think ??)hand held device at my gym , last taken two weeks ago. From what I understand the device sends waves of some sort from one handle , through your body and into the other handle.
  • I realize I've got intestines and my stomach there to bulge out a little ... But I'm certain other people who are similar in fitness to me have flatter stomachs then me. Don't get me wrong , in not some uneducated girl shooting for unrealistic expectations...but sometimes I can stand up and 'cup' my gut like its a little…
  • Part bump , part ETA : my height is 5'4.
  • YouTube/ download the app popsugar :) they have a variety of videos , from 10 mins to 45 mins long. Not related to that but I also like the Billy Blanks ab bootcamp work out video( also on YouTube). I believe it is about half an hour.
  • 200 calories isn't really a lot. Eat a granola bar and a small apple. Boom , 200 calories gone. I've been using mfp for a while and haven't noticed a difference in calculations.
  • Something like this breakfast :730 snack 10 o'clock lunch 1230 snack 230 dinner 6 o'clock snack 10 o'clock. It varies day by day , but a rough guideline .
  • What helped me to stop binge eating is I sat down and I divided my daily total calories into how how much I would have at each meal. I have breakfast , snack , lunch ,snack , dinner , snack. I find trying to hit the smaller goals at each meal gives me less anxiety about reaching my cal goal , which then led me to binge to…
  • If you are new to strength training , I think it's great for the one-on-one time to learn proper form. Not just that, but my personal trainer has taught me tons of different work out moves I probably wouldn't have though of on my own! :) I think they're worth it as long as you realize you have to still put in effort…
  • Try sitting down , and dividing up your total calorie goals into goals you'd like to hit for each meal . I just started doing it but I think it helps to first start hitting the small targets as each meal/snack time comes around. My daily goal is 1570 , currently I do breakfast: 270, snack 140, lunch 400, snack 130, dinner…
  • Swiss Chalet ... quarter chicken dark meat with a side of veggies or if I've worked out, a baked potato with sour cream :) For lunch I sometimes grab subway , usually a tuna sandwich without cheese. Lately I've been craving steak, so sometimes I order an eight oz with a side of veggies. Switching to drinking water with…
  • Also , I eat my biggest meal in the evening and it didn't stop me from shedding about fifteen pounds. So , it isn't an impossibility to eat at night and lose weight.
  • No disrespect to Dr Oz, but I'd take anything a doctor on television says with a grain of salt. If you really want a doctor's oppinion, go to your own. Hell, go to a walk-in clinic and ask. I thought Oz was great when he first came on the air, but he pushes too many products for me to think he's really putting peoples…
  • woot , you just opened a can of worms with this question :P I'm sure you will have people debating back and forth shortly. I personally think it is a personal preference. If you're staying under your calorie goal, it doesnt matter if you eat breakfast at six a.m. or six p.m. For myself, I don't eat at specific times, but I…
  • Also , drink a cup of water before you decide to eat anything, that helps me too, sometimes it fills me up and I realize I wasn't really hungry, at worst it helps clear the cravings for junk out of my head and I start thinking about healthier options.
  • I found that if I'm craving sugar , a serving of strawberries usually does the trick for me ! Also , usually I eat my meals in a breakfast/lunch/snack/dinner/snack pattern, so if I know I really want treats like chocolate I save up a few extra cals and use them on my last snack of the day. Good luck:)
