I'm 5'2 1/2, and I'm at 133 trying to get back down to my old weight of 115-120 :)

As cheesy as it may sound, create a vision collage! Oxygen magazine included an article some time ago about creating a vision collage that motivates you and placing it in your room to look at when you feel you're lacking that extra push. It can be of places you'd like to visit, role models you look up to, yourself at a…

Please count me in too! I'm going on vacation in the beginning of October and also want to lose 15-20 lbs Name: Sarah J. Height: 5'3 Current Weight: 135 lbs Goal Weight: 118 lbs We can do this! :)

I can't speak for everyone, but I know I've been there and so have a couple of my friends who have lost a bunch of weight. I would find myself justifying by saying, "I've lost weight, so I can enjoy myself this one meal," which is all good and well until one meal turns to one week of meals. My advice would be to maybe join…

Yes, typically if I've eaten too much at once, eaten too fast, or had more sodium that I should. I also feel that way when I'm bloated due to "that time of the month." Sorry for the TMI lol :)

Thank you :) I have a similar scale by Withings and it's awesome, also syncs to MFP so super easy use!
-
Thank you all! I appreciate all the feedback :)

I agree...you need to remind yourself that the positives that accompany eating healthy far outweigh the negatives...cravings pass, but results last. That said, a cheat meal, occasional treat, etc. goes a long way in preventing you from feeling deprived. You got this! :)

I count tea :) I usually buy unsweetened green tea and sip on that throughout the day...you could also try cutting slices of fruit and putting in in your water the night before...nothing like natural, fruit-flavored, ice cold water! yum!

I plan ahead for them, either by making that day my cheat day for the week, or accounting for what I eat in my food log and making sure the rest of my day is clean :)
-
YES!
-
this, and I don't know what your diet is like, but try to eliminate processed foods and go for whole, clean ones...my 125 lbs look way different 7 years later than they did during my freshman year in college, namely because I had zero muscle mass then and now weight lift/eat clean
-
LOL...love it
-
Good for you! This point of MFP is to help you reach your personal goals, and if those are yours, so be it! I'm also with you...I'll take lean and muscular/athletic over skinny any day :)
-
Couldn't agree more! Balance is key, and I will never advocate a cardio only approach, namely because strength training has done wonders for me, a former cardio junkie with zero muscle tone.

I understand not liking the process of finding the right jeans, but I think there's a good fit out there if you invest the time into jean shopping. I like the Hermosa cut at PacSun the best...LOVE the way it fits :)
-
I log them to keep tabs on eating patterns that work best for me...i.e whether I am less inclined to eat more of the calorie-dense stuff when I've eaten more veggies to fill me up
-
Yeah, beer and alcohol in general would have the same effect on me, so I generally avoid them (with the exception of Friday night when I go out dancing lol)
-
You're awesome! I hope my legs look nearly as good at 63 :)

Thanks! I actually do always track my whole day (this weekend was a weekend full of bday celebrations, so I will admit, I slacked a bit in terms of logging this weekend. No more :) That said, I have a couple of days this week where I overindulged on avocado/PB...you may be right about listening to my body though...I am…

I didn't. I exercised the same way but ate a little more

I would aim for a window instead of 1200, like 1200-1500 cals a day, for starters. It's hard to stay at 1200, and like many will say, there is really no need for it for most. Breakfast: Egg Whites + Veggie Scramble Piece of Fruit Snack: Piece of Fruit + Lean Protein ( I usually just have 1/2 scoop of whey or almond milk)…

Thanks for all these awesome suggestions :)

Couldn't agree more

Or, rather, than be "out," you could suggest a healthier pace. I'd focus on 1-2 lbs of weight lost a week, and set a more realistic goal like 4-8 lbs (8 being on the higher side of course) of weight loss a month :)
-
A friend of mine lost 5-6 lbs on this, BUT, Special K products tend to be pretty processed, so I'd much rather lose the weight following a clean diet centered on lean proteins, healthy fats, fruits/veggies.
-
Thanks everyone! I'll incorporate your suggestions and see how I fare tonight. Much appreciated :)
-
so after your 8 pm dinner you don't eat for the remaining hours before bed, correct?
-
Love this! I manage this on Thursdays (because I teach a cardio class until 9 pm) and those days don't ever pose a night-time snacking problem. Don't know why I didn't think of this :)

Thanks! I'll definitely keep chopped veggies on hand. The problem is, I wind up craving fats (usually the healthy kind, but still). I may try doing celery and a tbsp of natural peanut butter or carrots and a tablespoon of hummus rather than PB by the spoonful lol. I appreciate the suggestions! :)
