  • I know someone already posted this link but: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/21/meet-staci-your-new-powerlifting-super-hero/ scroll down to the middle or so and see her before and after. If you want to look like that do not be afraid of gain a few lbs of muscle!! All we want it no fat right?
  • What works for you will be different. I am a male so yes my number are going to be higher then yours. When I was really strength training hard over the summer I was consuming 3200-3500 calories a day and still dropping body fat. What the calories consist of is also a huge factor for strength training so check out the rules…
  • It is a scary thought I know!! Trust me I was in the same boat. I was stuck at my last 10lbs and was eating only around 1100 cals a day. I finally just went for it. Upped my calories to 2600/day added strength training and wow was I impressed. The scale did not drop to much but my appearance really started to change after…
  • Think the trend it obvious but hey I will chime in also. Toning up and 900 calories day just does not work. Sure you may drop 5lbs eating 900 a day but I can assure you it was not fat you lost. Your body requires more just to survive during the day and when it needs more it is going to reduce your lean muscle. I think the…
  • When I first started running about 1 year ago I struggled with shin splints over and over again. I think it came down to simple doing to much to fast!! You need to start slow with high impact running. Also get fitted for shoes!! that helped me out. I also took a Good Form Running class.
  • Seems like most are the same as me. I started slow doing 30 second runs then a 2 minute fast walk. I did these for 60 minutes every other day. The off days I did the elliptical for the lower impact. As I found myself getting less winded I kept the 30 second run but started to lower the fast walk time. Just go slow and…
  • haha this is horrible but I run in peoples front yards most the time right next to the side walk. If not my shins flare up :)
  • Don't let that 2lbs fool you! That is a great loss for a newly switched routine!! New routine equals new muscles being worked. Those muscles want to recover and the only way they know how is to retain & rebuild. That means you might see a smaller change on the scale and sometimes even an increase. It is normal and you will…
  • Also how much water are you drinking? You need to drink LOTS of water so your body will not retain it all. Also check sodium levels. Sodium will make you retain water also. Of course drink enough water and it will flush the sodium also!! I know for me when I started working out I did just cardio & diet. I lost a good…
  • I agree 100% I made it a routine. My 1 rebuttal to the weekly weigh in. What if that happens to be the day your weight fluctuates up 3 lbs!! Checking daily you would know that it was just a day your body retained some water or something. But if it was the only number you have for the entire 7 days then you would just beat…
  • Another fun way to track your progress without the scale. Take a daily photo for the next 90 days and watch the transformation!
  • I personally check my weight every morning straight out of bed before I eat or drink and of course after I use the bathroom :) I have days that stay the same or go up a pound or so but do not focus on those days since it just happens from time to time. As others have stated many factors can make the number on the scale…
  • I did just post my 50 pound lost thread then found this. Figured I would share since I was shocked at how much different my face looked!!
  • Thanks lol I was just about to go fix it :)
  • I was doing the same as you!! Eating around 1200 and working out 5 nights a week burning 700-800 calories and was not seeing any progress on my weight loss for about 1 month!! I started eating 2200 Calories a day and bang!! The weight loss is back on and I feel better inside then I did before!! Just be sure you are logging…
  • I would check out this post here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/912920-in-place-of-a-road-map-3-2013 Very good information in it!! I was doing the same as you and not loosing any fat. I turned my intake up to 2100-2200 cals and not only do I feel better during the day I am seeing numbers drop on the scale both in…
  • I am in!! I need 25 more to reach my goal and really would like to hit that for the summer so I can show off all that I have done!!
  • Yep I workout at Anytime Fitness, A local 24 hour gym but I have never really been into weightlifting before so it is all still new to me. I will read up on the website for sure!! Small update also I slammed down 2200 CALs yesterday and made sure to get a good amount of protein along with about 12 glasses of water and…
  • Looking good for sure!! Great job at staying motivated!! My kids are my main motivation also and I am really looking forward to the summer so we can get out and play more then last year!!
  • I took a look at some of the links and used the calculators to determine my REE and set some macros in myfitnesspal goal plan!! I think I am going to head over to the YMCA since they offer metabolic rate tests for 85 bucks just to see how accurate my REE is also. I think I need to change my mindset and just be happy with…
  • Hello!! I was doing around 1300 but am bumping up to 2000 since I am probably starving myself after doing some research!! I do have a question for you also!! That metabolic rate test, did your insurance pay for the test since you went through your doctor? I found a few places around town that do it but they want 85 bucks!!
  • So I guess my thoughts are correct and I really do just need to suck it up and eat more during the day, not hard since I truly love food which is how I got myself up to 225 just wanted to reach my goal as quick as possible!! I am going to lift my limits to around 2000 a day for a few weeks and let my body adjust and see…
  • Nice job for sure!! Nothing like a plan working out!! Keep motivated and help keep us motivated also with great posts!!
