Do you weigh your food?
-
Right. And here's why you need a food scale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjKPIcI51lU&list=FLxRg_80KHM-BdcHvV7nkgfg&index=2

I like Justin's Maple Almond Butter. That's disgusting.
-
How many people never bother to sign up at all? :)
-
Start training now and do the best you can do. That's what it's all about. Don't skip it.
-
This is what I do, too.
-
Me, too. Also when you know the weight of your pans/most used bowls for easy recipe building.
-
Make a new goal - start a progressive lifting program, or pick some really difficult yoga poses to work towards, or start C25K.
-
You're amazing. So proud of you!
-
I found most of those to be fear-mongering, rather than educational.

40 pounds in a month really isn't a healthy, attainable goal. My recommendation is to set your loss for 2lbs/week and follow the calorie goals that MyFitnessPal gives you. Eat sensibly and remember that properly fueling your body is important! Weight gain with a new exercise routine is very common, so don't be alarmed…

This. I use TDEE now, so no. But if you're using MFP, it's designed in such a way that you're supposed to (though I only ever ate half).
-
This was my next set of questions. If you're having trouble losing, weighing your food will really, really help. Watch this :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjKPIcI51lU&list=FLxRg_80KHM-BdcHvV7nkgfg&index=1

Do you log your food? That's really the key to losing weight.
-
Mine does weird things when I yoga - like get under me in a downward dog, or put his paw on my head in childs pose. I have some photos of his shenanigans.
-
That's kinda the point though. A successful "diet" will teach you long term habits that will help you keep the weight off. You don't need to jump-start your weight loss. Anyway, you'll do what you're going to do. Good luck :)
-
Based on the fact that you regained the weight, I'd say the diet doesn't work very well, right? Maybe look into flexible dieting.
-
Honestly you won't find motivation in any of these things - motivation comes from inside. You decide you're done being fat, and change it. Period.
-
You should talk to your doctor about controlling your heartburn. Good luck.
-
I really hope you talk to someone.
-
If it was easy, there wouldn't be sites like this :) It's hard to be overweight, too. You just have to pick your hard. Good luck.
-
You don't have to count calories to lose weight - it's the most precise way though. I've taken breaks when I felt like the calorie counting was getting to be too much for me mentally, and in maintenance I don't log at all on weekends. My end goal is not to count for the rest of my life, but to take the knowledge I've…

Good, I'm glad you're losing at the rate you're aiming for. That means you're doing it right. I would recommend that you get a food scale though. I weigh daily, but track monthly, so even if there's a bump up in the scale, I don't sweat it, because it's not my "official" weight for the month. Maybe try something like that.
-
Dude, nice catch! I didn't even realize with the dates being so close!
-
Yikes at the advice on this thread! You're very, very unlikely to be gaining muscle on a caloric deficit. Do you use a food scale? If not, that's the first place I'd start. I wouldn't change your calories until you have a firm grasp on what you're actually eating. Chances are, it's more than you think. Do you eat back your…

I decided I'd rather be a fit depressed person than a fat one. Sounds harsh but it's true. I also stopped planning my tomorrows and started doing my todays.
-
Get off your butt.
-
You just started back and you have no appetite. My best guess is that it's a mental block. I had one, too. Just keep eating, and make sure you set up a reasonable goal. You only have 15 pounds to lose. Your goal should be .5lbs/week loss rate.
-
Heart rate monitors are only good for steady state cardio. They aren't meant to give you calorie burns for cleaning your house or mowing the lawn.
-
The more you have to lose, the easier/quicker you can safely do it. So all the "I did it!" anecdotes aren't applicable. I lost 20 pounds my first month - I was really fat and that's not a realistic goal for the average person. It's nothing I'd encourage or recommend. If you only have 45 pounds to lose, it will be very,…
