  • I love it with lots of sauteed veggies (different squashes, onions, peppers), homemade tomato sauce, and parmesan cheese. Sometimes I add grilled chicken. It's also good (and easy) with just EVOO, sea salt, and cheese.
  • This happens to everyone. I wouldn't over think it. If it's really an issue, you need to address your posture. I sit all day at work, and have a support that reminds me to sit up straight. I would assume you are standing all day with your back arched and your hips rotated. There are a variety of items you could try to help…
  • I am on team wax also. Tell them it's your first time. Take a friend and a shot of tequila. After a few years, you won't even flinch anymore. If you stick to shaving, a product called Tend Skin helped me a lot with bumps and ingrown hairs. It burns some until you get used to it - there are some places that you may or may…
  • I have a friend that swears by some weird tapping thing she learned from a book to overcome cravings. It's written by a hypnotist, but I'm not sure of his name. I Can Make You Skinny, or something along that line, is the name of the book. She's lost about fifty pounds ... Maybe it's a placebo effect, but it seems to be…
  • I eat two apples or a banana in the car on my way home every day. It's generally enough to take the edge off before I get home so I can make better decisions.
  • I don't have many issues with this, although my office supplies a lot of snacks so I doubt anyone is interested in stealing my grilled chicken or spinach salad when there are much more delicious options available. Sometimes, things get used or go missing because it's assumed they're for everyone. (Yogurt, coffee creamer,…
  • I drink all kinds of diet soda (although, pretty infrequently) so I won't be getting involved in any battles about aspartame. But a post about lemon water earlier this mornings made me think of (and post) this recipe ... homemade sprite I saw on a blog last week. It's delicious and maybe will satiate a soda craving.…
  • I always have had (what I think is) a healthy relationship with food ... but sometimes still seem to feel the need for food. Keep something satisfying and healthy(ish) around for when you do give in and practice portion control when you give in. I've found that pita chips, homemade sorbet, or dark chocolate will solve any…
  • Lauryn's blog is my fav... I'm sure that people here will disagree with a lot of the things she says but her recipe for homemade sprite is the best. Seriously, try it. http://theskinnyconfidential.com/2014/01/29/buh-bye-nasty-*kitten*-soda-homemade-10-sprite/ ETA - "the best". I didn't realize actual four letter words were…
  • I think the idea of flaunting it is great ... but do so in an age appropriate manner. I think that is probably what your husband reacted to. I can't remember the last time I saw anyone that wasn't a teenager wearing the items you've described together. I am younger than you but as a professional, would be humiliated to be…
  • Dole makes frozen chocolate covered fruits (strawberries and bananas) that are delicious and pre-portioned to into 60 calorie packs. We keep them in the freezer at work and they've become everyone's go-to treat after lunch or in lieu of donuts when they show up. You could certainly make your own but these are great to grab…
  • I have a family member undergo surgery about three years ago (she was probably about 55 when she had the surgery). I have no idea how much weight she lost, although it is well over 100lbs - maybe close to 200. She has always refused to learn how to eat properly or exercise and this probably saved her life. On the other…
  • I would not use baby lotion on your face ... generally, any non-facial moisturizer is a nightmare for my skin though. Cetaphil has a really mild lotion that you can buy at the grocery or drug store that is great.
  • It was just an interesting piece of information I was passing on. I don't know anything about dentistry or tooth enamel but it is advice I received from someone whose expertise I appreciate. Maybe 'restore' was the incorrect verb. He has a lot to say about Altoids also, if you're interested.

  • You are absolutely underestimating a woman's ability to "stumble" across private Facebook messages. Particularly, because men (and women!) often start acting funny when they have something to hide. I think it's fair to use the fantasy of "running into an ex" as motivation but developing a relationship with them in order to…
  • I drink one after lunch most work days ... I wish I didn't want to and understand that aspartame maybe isn't the greatest chemical to put in my body, and that all soda is "the devil" but I love them and intend to continue drinking them when a craving arises. Unrelated issue with diet sodas - my dentist says they're much…

  • I'm not sure if this is practice everywhere, but I worked in a restaurant in college and the people that took takeout orders and generally put them together were not the waiters and waitresses that make $2 an hour ... I don't usually see people that are charged with waiting tables answering the phones or ringing up to-go…
  • I drink a bloody mary (with a homemade mix) while cooking dinner ... They're filling and lower calorie than a lot of other alcoholic options and tend to keep less interested in the food. Not a great option if you don't drink or didn't plan on the calories.
  • Maybe your body is recognizing dehydration now or you're more aware of what your body is telling you. Keep drinking up! It takes A TON (not a literal ton, though) of water before it becomes a bad thing.
  • I use my slow cooker all the time. I make chili and chicken for tacos or salads (chicken breasts, homemade taco seasoning, fresh salsa, chicken broth) weekly. Both are great heated up in the microwave. I throw the chicken on lettuce and add avocado and salsa for lunch at work a few times a week. No kids ... and my SO…
  • I agree with this. I am a much younger woman in a male dominated field. I can't imagine how offended and disrespected I would feel if my colleague chose to eat alone, rather than with me, when common practice for our company is for people to eat together when travelling. It's a lot of work to locate an Applebees when…
  • There's certainly value in buying things that you can wear for a few sizes or that are used, but finding a few things that make you look good now can be so motivating and great for your self-confidence. I think it would be so worth it to buy something new that you love at a discount store to celebrate your achievement so…
  • You look incredible! I have serious hair envy.
  • As of yesterday, I am officially out of my (cheap) fat suit! I was able to wear a fancy custom (and expensive) suit that hasn't fit in about a year to a meeting yesterday ... although not quite as well as I did before.
  • Everyone else has perfect advice. However, someday down the road, you'll find someone great and there's a good chance that he can eat a ton and not put on weight. Men can be annoying like that sometimes. Sometimes, I have to have a salad and watch my SO eat two cheeseburgers. If he starts to gain weight, he quits eating…
  • I have experienced a significant increase in hair loss ... it's fortunately not noticeable on my head (because I have a ton of hair) but I'm definitely seeing it in the drain. I have a friend that experienced a lot of weight loss and had the same experience. Now that she is maintaining, it's quit falling out and started to…
  • I think it's glaringly obvious that you have no food decisions made ! There's definitely a lot of small details that you'll need to pin down ... Check out some planning books or websites. The sooner you get it totally figured out, the longer you have to obsess about the decisions you've made. I would take a step back and…
  • I'm sure they would've already tested for this, but I have a family member whose child had those same type of issue for many years. She was years later diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I would assume that's been looked at already and seems pretty run of the mill, but this was only a few years back. The family spent a long…
  • My birthday is on Saturday! I'm going to do my normal Saturday workout and eat breakfast and lunch at home. Then I intend to start drinking very early in the afternoon and eat something awful for me for dinner. I end up feeling terrible if I am eating poorly for more than one meal in a row and I need my strength to drink…
  • Exercise more. look better naked. have better sex. If it's important enough to mention in a public forum, use it as motivation.
