  • This video was helpful. Basically, my metabolism has slowed from too low of calories and I need to gradually increase them to achieve a higher rate of burn. Protein and resistance training over cardio may help as well.
  • I just want to thank all of you who weighed in on this thread. You people are all awesome. You've given me much to contemplate. kshama2001 and AnnPT77 hit the nail on the head. While chill on the outside, a somewhat "high stress individual" lurks within. I also like physical challenges, and when I take them on, tend to…
  • WTG! Congrats on your hard work! This is something to which I'm really looking forward... Today I crossed into the 27s (27.8)...down from 30.6.
  • I went on a week-long camping trip and forgot to bring both my food scale and body scale. I normally gain weight on vacation and have often dropped-out upon returning. This time I came back a little over two pounds lighter and am back to logging. I credit my success with daily hiking, evening walks around the campground,…
  • I'm so sorry you've been having a hard time and am glad your mental health treatments are providing relief. You have some powerful reasons to improve your health....I'm looking at that cute little bean in your arms. You've lost the weight before and you can do it again. Better yet, you know this is forever. It's a…
  • My quiche recipe has a butter crust, cream, whole milk, cheese, and optional bacon or sausage. Not low calorie. As others have said, you can make a lower calorie crustless version with veggies and egg whites swapped for some of the eggs.
  • Like others, I know the feeling. This was me 6 weeks ago. Between injuring three discs that caused me to be laid up for months and Covid eating, I knew I had put on weight...I just didn't know how much. And I was scared to find out. My "fat" clothes were tight and I noticed I always sat down to put on my shoes (I had never…

  • Yay. I made it today. Now I've got my eye on 186...will be 20 pounds down. I guess you could say I like really mini goals. LOL.

  • Lowered estrogen is the culprit behind a thickening waist after menopause. https://www.startribune.com/mayo-clinic-study-finds-explanation-for-postmenopausal-belly-fat/205701571/#:~:text=Scientists%20have%20long%20known%20that,cells%20to%20store%20more%20fat. • I'm 194 right now. Looking forward to 189.
  • Workouts I felt I *should* do but didn't want to do, were boring, or painful on my joints. I recently moved to a new house with mountain trails across the street and find myself hiking every day for the sheer love of it.
  • I have no problem with bowls of cereal/oatmeal, but I usually choose not to spend my limited calories on them because I don't find them satiating. Eggs with avocado, full-fat cottage cheese and Greek yogurt stop my hunger more effectively and keep me full for hours longer.
  • I'm eating way less carbs (rice, pasta, sandwich bread) because I'd rather spend more calories on tastier high protein/high fat things, using an enormous salad or pile of steamed veggies as a replacement base. The thing is, I don't even miss those starches. I feel full and satisfied. I currently limit bread to one slice…
  • I second volume eating to help with satiation and feeling full. This thread is so helpful https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10563959/volume-eaters-thread Basically you take whatever you like to eat and put it on top of/with a HUGE bowl of salad or cooked vegetables. Eat it and and you will be stuffed. I eat…
  • Congrats on your marvelous success!! The weight loss really makes your beautiful eyes and smile pop.
  • I use Nido. It's powdered whole milk. It's not low calorie (because it's whole milk), but it tastes good and adds protein. It's also great to take on a trip for oatmeal/cereal. It tastes worlds better than nonfat dry milk. I take it camping for my kids.
  • Nice job you two. It's so awesome that you'll have each other to continue supporting and motivating one another.
  • This is me. I used to avoid them completely. But now I sometimes buy the Lay's 10 pack of classic chips. Each bag is 1 ounce and 160 calories. I can usually fit one bag into my allotment and stop there. Whereas an open party-size bag is a recipe for disaster. A reasonable alternative are the Skinny Pop mini bags which are…
  • I'd like to join in. I'm a 40ish mom of 4 boys and want to lose 61 pounds. Two weeks ago, I stepped on the scale and was dismayed to find myself at 206 pounds. That's the heaviest I've ever been and at 5'9", the first time I've ever been in the obese BMI category. I've put on 30 pounds in one year and am really feeling it.…
  • Breastfeeding seems to have one of two opposite effects. Either women lose the postpartum weight rapidly or hold on to excess weight until they stop. I unfortunately fell into the latter category when nursing each of my babies. The reason? Breastfeeding made me ravenous. And not just hungry for any food; I constantly…
  • I was going to complain this morning about "having" to exercise. Then I saw your incredible post. Thank you. You're right. No excuses. I can do this.
  • That 13 pounds made a huge difference in your face! Keep it up. You got this!
  • Thank you for sharing your incredible accomplishment! You have such an authentic beautiful smile!!

  • I know you said no separate cooking/meals and that you would be eating the same thing your family eats. But that would NEVER work for me in my family, as my family members have very different goals than me, which is weight loss. I cook for a family of 6, which includes my husband and 4 sons (who are all thin/fit, active,…
  • Lost an inch off each thigh!
  • Made it to 179.4 today! Bye bye 180s.
