Talk about a Transformer! Well done.

Protein powder should not be used as a meal replacement. There are meal replacement powders on the market that contain whey isolate (along with carbs and other nutrients), but honestly you don't need it. You are better off just having a healthy meal, and working on a developing a balanced overrall diet. On it's own, there…

Spent years struggling with IBS (which is really just a catchall for "we really don't know what the $#!%@ is wrong"). Everybody has different triggers, so your best bet is to start with a very limited diet (grilled meats / proteins, no sauce, veggies, fruits, rice is usually fine). Once you've established a baseline diet…

Remember trying it for the first time and nearly passing out at the thought of eating uncooked flesh, like taking a primal bite before humans discovered fire... Now I crave the stuff like crack. (ok, maybe like donuts). Had some for dinner, maybe get more tomorrow now that I'm salivating ...

Thanks .... I log my sessions with evernote, and was just wondering whether it would be worthwile to copy all of that info into mfp. Sounds like it's not. Like the idea of just doing a rough lowball calorie burn on lifting days. I haven't been recording anything, and with pretty low calorie goal already, I should probably…

Do people count honey as "added sugar?" Not as an ingredient in processed foods, but a drizzle from a jar (preferably locally made!). I use a dab on oatmeal, greek yogurt fruit parfaits, apples, etc., and the 20 calories satisfies my sweet cravings. People obviously react differently to different foods (I personally cannot…

Ceviche. Easy, healthy, delicious. Just do it!

For what you want to accomplish and the body type you describe, reverse your training focus. 3x per week full body weight training (30-45 minutes per session should be sufficient to start), combined with maybe 2x per week cardio (preferably on non-training days) if you feel you need it (high intensity interval training…

Weight training has always made the difference for me. When I am consistently lifting (even if it is only once a week for maintenance), it helps to focus my food choices. If I splurge, it is generally a conscious decision to do so, because I decide it is worthwhile (here's to you, New Years whiskey, burger and egg wrap…

A 650+ calorie shake should solve your problem pretty easily. Plain greek yogurt (3/4 cup), protein powder (casein if you are taking it before bed), peanut/almond butter, cup of berries, banana, 2 tablespoons flax or chia seeds, chocolate almond milk. I also added raw cacao, which might have been overkill.

I confess I've never confessed. The secrets must be keeping me awake.

I went through that awful phase during my first job. Free delivery from delicious restaurants when food was the sole perk of the long, stressful hours. Tough combo. Add me if you like (anyone else too!). It's manageable, but will take some planning!

Is herbal assistance permitted?

Great goal, OP... But to get there, I'd recommend dropping the chest flyes from your routine. You don't need them, and they will sap your strength / time / recovery from the more important lifts. Best of luck in the new year!

Trader Joes veggie chili (or refried beans), 2-3 eggs over medium (yolk gold and moist), wilted spinach, splash of Tabasco ... Occasionally over an english muffin half or in a wrap, occasionally with a touch of melted jack cheese, usually just in a pile on the plate. Mmmmm ....

On a separate note, if you are a beginner at weight training, a full body workout 3x per week (every other day), is preferable to a 3 day split ...

As someone previously mentioned, learn to customize your orders. Almost every restaurant will accommodate. Chinese - get vegetables and chicken or shrimp, steamed, sauce on the side, and add just a dab (tablespoon) when you're ready to eat. Pizza - sometimes get no cheese with chicken and veggies, sometimes get very little…

Second yoga (some teachers give more of a cardio workout than others - find one that really gets your heart pumping), and swimming. Find yourself a lap pool and go to town. I have yet to find a more enjoyable cardio workout that provides the same kind of peaceful high than a long swim. Best wishes for a wonderful new year!

As I understand it, for weight loss purposes, where the calories come from doesn't matter. For FAT loss purposes (as opposed to lean body mass), however, where the calories come from DOES matter. Eating sufficient protein is the most important factor in retaining lean body mass while dieting. Obviously, resistance training…

Lol ... been working out at Steel Gym on 23rd for the month (thanks, Groupon!!!). Actually, if you are looking to start a workout program, they are running a promo - 2 weeks free, no strings attached, 24 hours during the week. Anyway, feel free to add me ... just starting on the site, so have no idea how the friend thing…

I fixed my soda addiction by squeezing lime (or lemon) into trader joe's seltzer. You get the fizz without the crap, and after awhile you can't stomach the crap anymore! Good luck with the shred ... Love the Calvin & Hobbes btw!

Used to be a cereal/snack-aholic as well. Found the following SIGNIFICANTLY cut down my cravings: 1/2-3/4 cup plain Greek Yogurt (Fage is best I think), 5 strawberries (sliced), handful blackberries or raspberries (or both!), handful blueberries, sliced banana (if you have the calories to spare!), 1-2 tablespoons of…

East Village(ish!) here! First post too, just starting on the site ... Getting to the gym in the cold makes me feel hardcore
