Hi, I have been a long time myfitnesspal user but have never joined any of the groups. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about 18 months ago. I am struggling with a pesky 10 pounds around my belly. I did initially lose that weight when on a strict elimination diet, but it has crept back on. I feel it is from stress…

I am a physical therapist AND I do Crossfit. I think you can get a great workout with Crossfit, you just have to listen to your body. You can always modify all the exercises until you can perform them safely without risk of injury.

Acorn Squash--cut lengthwise, scoop out seeds, place face down on foil lined pan, bake at 350 for 50-60 min. scoop out insides and add butter, brown sugar, cinnamon--yummy. Spaghetti Squash- all the same steps as acorn squash, just when you pull it out of the oven, scrap out with a fork (it will come out in strings--looks…

plan out your meals for the week: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. keeping things within your calorie budget. you get to experiment with different recipes, flavors, etc. then each day, you go to your "menu" and see what your supposed to eat-it may feel like you're following a diet and may keep you from getting bored.

do you have pes anserine bursitis (on the inside/lower part of your knee)? Bursitis is inflammation of the bursa sack. It will go away if you don't continuously irritate it. I would continue to ice, rest and take your meds, and also avoid deep squats, any painful knee extension exercises (ie. leg extension with lots of…

hello veronica! set a goal. for example, I decided to run a half marathon this fall (never running more than 4 miles at one time in my life!) I signed up for the race, and that is what keeps me motivated to work out. . . to accomplish that goal. Melissa <><

I usually listen to podcasts while i work out. they keep me distracted much better than music. I like Jillian Michael's podcast, as well as "garden variety triathlete".

plan, plan, plan! i make my meals for the rest of the week on Sundays, so i have all meals planned, bought, and some already prepared by Monday. I then eat according to my weekly planned menu, and stick to it. It not only saves me money, i also don't have to come home and wonder what's for dinner!

yes, i do eat back my exercise calories. after my workouts, i'm starving. I usually eat good stuff (lots of protein and some carbs), if i don't the next days workout is horrible. i have no energy. I am not trying to lose much weight, between 3 and 5 pounds. I tend to look at my eating as how to fuel my next workout.

i did the calculations and I am at 24% body fat, which is what i have gotten in the past with the caliper pinchers. My goal is to get it down to 22%. Thanks for the post!!

pretty common. as women, our bodies tend to retain more water during our period. keeping my same routine (i.e. exercise, water intake, sleeping, and caloric intake) tends to make that week go by smoothly. A pound or two gain is usually lost by the end of that week.

i personally like Ryka's or New Balance. find a shoe that fits your foot, and is comfortable. sometimes cheapest isn't always the best.

Good Job!! I love to swim, I hope you come to enjoy swimming as much as I do, it's so freeing to "fly" through the water and escape into the tranquility found under the surface. i love it!

are your batteries dying? try replacing them and see if your caloric burn increases. a friend of mine was complaining about her HRM doing the same thing, she changed her battery and it was back to her normal daily caloric burn.

have you lost weight? the less you weigh, the less calories burned doing the same activity. try using a weighted vest, or change up your run, add sprints, incline, etc. Your body will adapt to an exercise, find the most efficient way to get the job done (burn the least amount of calories). So, I say, challenge yourself!…

sounds good, I'm going to have to try them. Thanks for the post!

i get up early to workout, before work. my work day is long and constantly moving (physical therapist). I also work out during my lunch break. I find it hard to workout after my work day ends, i'm too tired. I have had to make time for me, to accomplish my goals, and that means getting up an hour or so earlier. I am more…
