I've lost 87 pounds (6+ stone), and honestly, sometimes I look in the mirror and don't see the difference at all. That sounds crazy, right? Sometimes our brains take a long time to catch up with our loss. Take some pictures of yourself from the front and side every 10lbs as you lose, and keep them. When you start feeling…

I weigh myself every day, but I only log when it goes down to the lowest I've been.

First: Figure out if your restrictive eating is part of a disorder. Do you feel anxious about foods you don't like? Do you feel ill if you eat a food you don't like? Does it make eating difficult in social situations because you're self-conscious about your eating habits? If the answers to these are yes, then getting over…

Calories are really all that matter for longterm weight loss. Fiddling around with things like sugar and sodium can affect weight short term (water retention and stuff like that). If you're going over on sugar, but getting those sugars from fruit and aren't diabetic, don't worry about it. I personally try to keep mine low…

Despite what anyone else says, starvation mode does NOT exist. If you eat too little, you lose weight. That's what dieting is. Your body does not "freak out" and hold onto weight if you're eating what other people tell you is too little. You could be overestimating your burn (don't eat back all of your exercise calories.…

I have it, and I haven't even had kids. It's just how women in my family accumulate fat. I've lost 83 pounds, and it still hasn't gone away. It's definitely smaller than it was, but I still have that deep crease across my bellybutton and stuff. It's really depressing.

I'm not worried about it. Right now I'm losing at about a rate of 2 pounds a month, so right about at .5 a week, give or take. I'm definitely going to observe myself every 5 pounds or so as I continue to lose and see where I'm happy. I don't plan to go under under the 1-teens, period, so I don't think I'll have an issue…

I'm 26, married, and I live far, far away, so she can't actually tell me what to do. It's just an annoyance.

Thank you! Just wanted to make sure I'm not insane for feeling like I could lose more weight and still be okay.

Some people really can't lose weight unless they're eating around 1200. On 1200, it has taken me over 3 years to lose 83lbs, even with exercise, because that is just how my body works. It took a lot of trial and error for me to figure that out. Let her figure it out on her own. How much a person is eating is their…

Hey, I just recently got married about 7 months ago. Congratulations! I dropped almost 3 dress sizes in the year between buying my dress and having it altered, so I don't see why you can't lose a couple inches in the time you have. Feel free to add me if you like.

Like other people have said, pre-plan your food. I basically log everything at the start of the day and try not to deviate. I also hide food from myself. It helps if I can't see it, and I stay in the living room so I'm not tempted to grab a snack in the kitchen. Also, allow yourself to eat an extra 100-200 calorie treat…

Teeny, tiny portion sizes! For Thanksgiving, I took small portions of everything so I could enjoy some of everything, but not feel too guilty about it. I also found some low fat/sugar dessert recipes to make for Christmas this year.

Nice to meet you! Welcome to the site. Your goals of getting healthy are admirable, and it's nice to see you're actively doing something about it! Keep up the momentum.

I buy frozen fish fillets and bake them with some frozen veggies. Just season them to your liking, pop them in the oven for 20 minutes, boom, done. Fish is great for you, and I usually make it with (frozen) green beans, carrots, and potatoes.

Glad to see that you upped your calories from 700, because that's far too little for a young man like you to have. I'm a 25 year old woman with basically no metabolism to speak of, and 1200 makes me lose just fine. The question is, do you really need to lose weight? If you're lifting weights, you'll be gaining muscle,…

Start- 214lbs Current - 132lbs Goal - 120ish?

I binged a lot right after my dad died and gained 3 pounds before I started freaking out about it and stopped. For me, a big thing was keeping food out of my reach. My husband would bring me home chocolates, etc. and I would leave them on the end table right beside where I sit on the couch. Bad idea. So I started hiding…

I didn't actually count anything, but just eyeballing and going off the top of my head what I know servings of each thing I ate amount to, I'd say around 2,000. I had little half portions of everything so I could sample everything. I think most of those calories probably came from pie, though. I eat like a bird, so 2000 is…

Diet pills in general aren't the best way to go about it, even if they did work. The second you stop taking it you'd just put the weight back on. It's better to just work on your diet and exercise so you know your body's calorie limits and can have an easier time maintaining when you've lost the weight.

Grilled garlic chicken breast with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese and a side of oven roasted potatoes, carrots, and green beans.

Sounds like you've got it figured out! In the past, I lost little bits of weight here and there, but always gained it back. Like you, I spent most of my (albeit short, so far) adult life over 200 lbs. Once I learned that self-love that you're preaching here, I managed to keep losing weight. I definitely think it takes a…

Worst case scenario, there are exercises that are made specifically for people who are bound to chairs/wheelchairs. You could look up some videos or order a DVD until your femur is better!

I've lost 76 pounds eating whatever I want and controlling portions... says the woman who just ate a Reese's Pumpkin for lunch. If it fits your goals for the day, no worries. Don't deprive!

I was 143 yesterday and 141 this morning. It just happens. Keep track of your sodium intake, as too much can cause bloating and water retention, which will make your weight fluctuate pretty wildly.

It's okay if you're under now and then as long as it's not an every day thing. If you're full, don't fight it. Listen to your body, try to fit a little more in tomorrow. Same if you're a little over. Don't sweat it too much.

Take lots of pictures, because despite the fact that I've lost 72lbs, I hardly ever see it in the mirror. I'll look in the mirror and go, "I haven't lost anything at all." It's very disheartening. Then I'll look at a picture of where I am now and a picture of where I was 3 years ago and say, "WOW!"
-
I think it might depend what size you are starting out. When I first started, I was 214lbs, and it took me a 30lbs loss to drop from a size 16 to a 14. The smaller I get, the less weight loss it takes to drop a size. I bought my last pair of jeans 10 lbs ago, and they're already too big. I've dropped almost 2 sizes in a…

I'd recommend something with a decent bit of fiber in it. A good cereal or something that will fill you up. I usually eat a Fiber One bar for breakfast, and those keep me filled up for about four hours afterward! The oats and peanut butter kind are amazing, so chewy and peanut buttery and filling! I also like to have egg…

I'm so glad you're doing this and that you're listening to your doctor. My dad was always obese (often hovered around 300lbs), and he ended up with diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Three days after my wedding day, he died of a sudden, explosive heart attack. He never watched what he ate or listened to his doctor's…
