  • For me, compression shorts/pants are great for workouts (with an oversized tshirt that is long enough to cover my bootie), along with a good sports bra. When certain articles of clothing require it, shape wear has become my friend. :)
  • I can definitely tell the difference too! Good job!
  • You look fabulous! Thanks for sharing! I love coming here to see the success photos. It helps me to know what is possible.
  • I like Mission Carb Balance tortilla wraps, 6 net carbs, 13gm fiber, 5 gm protein if I'm remembering correctly.
  • Right now it's clothing because nothing I owned fits. LOL Oh the joy of being able to shop in the standard ladies sizes and not searching for the plus section! I also love accessories, so a new purse, bracelet, scarf etc. Running shoes, workout clothes or new music. Or a mini makeover with a mani-pedi or new hair style.
  • I do a small reward each time I drop down a "decade" in my weight, so 30s, 20s, 10s etc. Typically clothing since nothing fits. LOL Ultimate reward, I want to learn to scuba dive and hopefully visit the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. There is no way I'm getting in a wetsuit at this point. Haha
  • You need protein. Greek yogurt, nuts, milk, cheese, eggs, poultry, beef, fish etc. Protein and fats are what keep you feeling full longer. For me, every meal is protein, veggies, then 1 starch/carb serving like potatoes, rice, pasta or fruit. Combining protein with a carb for snacks is very filling, such as peanut butter…
  • You really need to see a doctor. They can get you hooked up with someone who treats eating disorders. Trying to do it on your own isn't working and truly, taking advise from us could be more harmful than good.
  • Try to make good selections most of the time and allow for an indulgence once a day or so. Look for baked or grilled items, without sauce or get the sauce on the side so you can control the amount where possible. Load up on veggies for your side dishes. Just try to pick out the healthiest options from what is available…
  • If you are having bread, put something healthy on it like peanut butter. Make hardboiled eggs a carton at a time too, they are a fast grab and go food in the morning. Or a greek yogurt with some fruit. Milk with protein powder. There's a lot of options out there.
  • Two lbs a week is doable at the moment. It'll become harder and harder as you lose though to maintain that goal. (less to lose means slower to lose usually) I agree with the strength training recommendation. Frozen veggies are often $1 a bag at Walmart. A bag of beans is cheap as well. Canned tuna is great. Chicken breasts…
  • MFP will automatically ask if you want to recalculate your goals after losing 10lbs.
  • Why are you planning to wait until you are at your goal to change your habits? Don't you need to change your habits now in order to lose the weight to begin with? You have to focus on eating healthy and getting fit to be able to reach your goal in the first place. The hope is that you will have learned those new healthy…
  • Freezer burn doesn't mean spoiled, it just may not taste as good or have a slightly different texture. Now with meat I may be more concerned but not fruit.
  • I take both and truly I do not notice an increase in bathroom trips with the HCTZ. What sends me to the bathroom every 20 min is Lasix. I'd suggest starting the HCTZ on the weekend and see how it affects you if you don't want to do trial and error on a workday. Otherwise, maybe take it right as you get off work if you…
  • I believe the "secret" is to pick nutritious foods when eating late. When I'm tired, I'm more likely to go for chips than carrots so I try to plan ahead and select something before it gets to that point. I also know I like a late snack so I plan for it and save back those calories to make room for it.
  • I typically weigh the least in the late afternoon, before dinner. I don't know why, I just have to be different. My weight can vary 4-5 lbs some days. This is why picking a consistent time to weigh is important.
  • Reduced carb plans are generally considered the best with PCOS due to the insulin resistance that often goes hand in hand with it. You can do a forum search on PCOS and find tons of posts on this topic. There are several groups here dedicated to it as well. Just go to groups and enter PCOS. Besides birth control, the next…
  • It depends upon your fitness level starting out. I have an exercise bike, so I started with 30 minutes and worked up from there. Pick something you enjoy, whether it's walking, swimming, dancing etc. It's ok to switch it up and do different things so you don't get bored. Weight loss is mostly dependent upon your intake but…
  • Pickles, raw veggies such as carrots or cauliflower, a cheese stick, hardboiled egg
  • I'm currently loving Parmesan peppercorn lite ranch. It has a few more calories than others mentioned but I make it work and enjoy it.
  • Stop worrying about what they think of your weight loss, fitness etc. Do the things that you need to do to be healthy and fit and make no excuses for it. Since they've proven to be unsupportive, I just would not discuss the issue with them.
  • My hubby does all the cooking at our house too and he takes it as a personal affront if I won't eat what he's fixed. My situation is more than just weight loss, I have to be on a specific diet for medical reasons. I normally take a small portion of what he's fixed then go to the frig to rustle up some leftovers, a salad…
  • We can help you but when it comes down to it, you have got to look deep inside and figure out what YOUR motivation is. Managing illness? Feeling better? Looking better? Improved fitness? I wrote on my blog a list of all the reasons why I MUST make this lifestyle change. My blog is private, but I can go back and re-read…
  • I do use shopping as a reward, mostly because nothing I owned fits anymore. LOL I have to buy new clothes anyways but I call it my reward for my hard work. I think buying work out clothes, running shoes etc is much better than eating a calorie laden meal. My hubby tends to try to do this to me though by saying oh go ahead…
  • Veggies, protein and dairy are my mainstays. Eggs, lower fat cheese, greek yogurt, nuts, peanut butter, tuna, chicken, turkey, non starchy veggies such as green beans, cauliflower, cucumber, carrots etc and some fruit like berries or frozen banana slices. I love Mission carb balance tortilla wraps instead of bread for…
  • No, you won't regain 5 lbs after a one day splurge unless you ate thousands of calories. You might pick up a little water weight from the extra sodium but it'll be gone in a couple of a days. I don't understand why your choosing to eat healthier should make others uncomfortable though. I just don't make a big deal about it…
  • Very few people not on MFP know about my journey. I think the fear of failure and looking a fool plays a huge part in my decision to not share this. I've been overweight for 25yrs, so not being able to stick with this was a real possibility. A couple of good friends at work know but mostly because I eat lunch with them at…
  • I've already gotten rid of 2 bags and have 4 more bags sitting here ready to do. I still have some oversized stuff in my closet though. Some are for painting and gardening in, so I don't ruin my new stuff, and some are my favorites that I'm trying to decide if it's worth having them altered. I have gone a little overboard…
  • Ditto everyone else. You can make the lifestyle changes needed to be healthy but you must learn to stop beating yourself up over your current weight.
