I would go by mfp, it has the deficit already built in. 1000 is low especially for your weight. Most trainers do not have education and training in nutrition. They probably just want a success story of you losing weight fast.

You can add breastfeeding to your food diary and it will subtract calories so you can eat those calories back just like exercising.

Make your own trail mix. Nuts, raisens, pretzels, dried fruit etc.

Hi, I weigh about the same as you and also gained about the same through college. But, I joined MFP and have lost 8.5lbs in 2 weeks! My advice is to stay connected and log on everyday. It really helps keep me motivated. Good Luck!

There is already a calorie deficit built in to you caloric goal. So if you meet your daily goal you will lose weight. If your deficit is too high you might not be consuming enough calories which could hinder you weight loss.

Try not to replace unhealthy foods with processed "fat free" or "sugar free" version of the same food. Your taste buds with start to change after you cut out junk food and processed sugar. If you are only eating 1200 calories and you are getting them from pop tarts and such you probably are not getting enough nutrients.…
