Need Emergency food suggestions...

For dinner, we went to a reception (where I thought there would be veggie trays, etc.... there was NOTHING there but pies, cakes, cheesecake, cobblers.... UGH. I ate a small bowl of fruit & that was my dinner. I'm starving tonight but I'm not eating a thing. Geesh! Should've been better prepared. AND it happened to be the ONLY day in 6 weeks that I let myself have a donut for breakfast. The sugars are through the roof today! Horrible choices..... got any suggestions as to what to keep in my purse to avoid this issue again? Breakfast bar? protein bar? heck, a 3 muskateers bar would've been better than all that food at the reception!!

It's a rare day that I don't have a 100 calorie pack of almonds in my purse0

Always have some fiber one bars in your purse. They are delicious and nutritious!0

I usually keep a Kashi bar in my purse.0

I was going to suggest the same thing...100 calorie pack of raw almonds. There are also some really good special k bars.0

I always keep at granola bar like Kashi has chewy ones and crunchy and the sugars are really low per serving..also a little snack baggies with almonds or nuts. Sometimes apples if I get the small ones and grapes.
I also keep those 100 calorie snacks in my glove box too lol I not only try to feed myself better but I have a 2 year old and keep a 3 yr old during the week so I am always on top of the snack situation0 -
Make your own trail mix. Nuts, raisens, pretzels, dried fruit etc.0

one meal is not going to make you go in a tail spin just drink water and do the best you can with what you got on hand even 1000 calories over is not the end of the world0

you can always carry a zip lock of almonds - about 20 to a 1/4 cup depending on size and serving calories is 170. I did weigh one time to confirm number as well. I usually carry them if I know i'm going out. If I can carry a cooler bag with me, I'll bring cheese as well and or yogurt, but for non perishables, any kind of health bar, fiber, oats whatever you normally would choose for nutritional value, not the regular snack ones would be good or even a protein bar. Might not hurt to have some kind of emergency bag that you can have in the pantry and or fridge and grab when you're going out just in case. If it is something perishable you can always work it into your meal or as your evening snack.
If i get caught out I will try to stop for a yogurt (or 2) if I know it will be awhile before my next meal but sometimes that's not even enough to get me through.0
