  • Find an activity you really enjoy. You'll be glad you did. I recommend Gillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. It kept my interest during the cold months until I could run again.
  • They have an Apple cinnamon one, but I didn't try it. Was already on enough of a sugar high.
  • My parents bought for all of us, so they received double the bread lol. Yes, indulgence! I had their peanut butter shooter: chocolate cake and peanut butter with whipped cream and nuts. OMIGOSH it was rich.
  • I like the Special K Cracker Chips. You can eat (depending on the flavor) 25-30 chips for about 100-130 calories. They're delicious, too. B)
  • This. Consistency is key. Weigh yourself at relatively the same time and in the same condition. For me it's in the morning and still fasted, after using the bathroom, and wearing nothing.
  • I had 3 pancakes and cinnamon maple syrup with a glass of chocolate milk. Yum!
  • Age is just a number. You can lose weight with hard work. Don't fall into the trap of "I'm too old" to lose weight. Good luck!
  • You'll be so glad you took before pictures. Sometimes it doesn't "click" until we see how much we've changed. Good luck and feel free to add me if you'd like the extra support.
  • I'm going against the norm here, but I would rest and wait it out. No use going 50% or being miserable during your workout. You can get back on track once you feel better. You've taken the right step with your health, but total health means loving and nurturing your body when it needs it.
  • This. Stop thinking of this as a diet. Diets have an end. Think of this as a lifestyle change that you'll have forever. Figure out why you lose motivation and you'll figure out why your past attempts weren't successful.
  • Mmmm avocado. Definitely a must have except I'm the only one who likes them in my family.
  • Every day won't always look pretty. There are some days I'm over in calories, but this isn't a race... it's a lifestyle change. Just enjoy being together and do better tomorrow.
  • Your body naturally does it already. There isn't any reason to do anything more than weighing/ measuring food, counting calories, and staying active. Don't make it any harder than it has to be. :) I guess I'm not seeing the difference between a water detox and just drinking water for health...
  • OP, some tough love coming. No excuses. If you want it badly enough, it happen. I felt like you did too, but it finally clicked. My success story: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10047676/myfitnesspal-saved-my-life/p1 Here's hoping you can have one too, but it starts with no excuses. Start out small with…
  • One of the best things I did. OP, it's easy to examine yourself and find faults. I had to teach myself to look at what I gained from my new healthier lifestyle and not what I still need. You've taken a giant leap towards loving yourself in regards to losing weight. Now you need to follow that up with positive talk about…
  • Congrats! Have you been taking progress pictures? One of the best things I did was take before pictures so I could see the change. Good luck with the rest of your goals!
  • Would blending it help? The corn I mean. >:)
  • OP, start taking pictures. They might be unflattering, but take them! That way you can see the changes. I lost over 100 lbs, but didn't feel a change or difference until I saw my progress through pictures. Also, I agree with the above that it takes about 15-20 lbs to see a little change. 5 lbs, though awesome, won't show…
  • Not really a Twinkie guy, but oh sweet Jesus!!!
  • I "detox" every day in the bathroom. It's what your kidneys, liver, and intestines do. Save your money.
  • This. You'll lose weight, but will be miserable and not very healthy. Calories in v. Calories out.
  • This. I refuse to give up coffee cream lol. Many days I have two cups. I just use a little less or buy a lower calorie kind. I'm currently loving the Dunkin Donuts Sweet Cream flavor.
  • Add a favorite snack to fill in the lack of calories (ice cream, popcorn, etc.). You'll lose weight and be able to eat what you love. 1,000 calories or less isn't safe.
  • I like those tips. I'll add: 5) distance>speed at first. Like you said, just try to do it without walking first. The more miles you run, the faster you'll eventually become. 6) Allow for rest days... enough said. 7) Have realistic goals for your first race. Feel proud for even finishing; not disappointed you didn't make…
  • I hope you change your mind. I've found most here to be very open and caring and, yes, brutally honest. For many, ED hits very close to home and is a touchy subject. I believe you weren't trying to start anything. I'm unsure, but there may be groups out there, already. Feel free to add me and I hope you stick around.
  • This. I was so tempted on buying a few the other day, but then noticed how expensive they are... shame too as I've always wanted to try one. I've also heard a common consensus that the cinnamon roll and cookies and cream are their best flavors. I'll stick to my Greek yogurt or Fiber One brownies, thanks.
  • Love me a good ol' country girl and tomboy... something about tomboys. <3
  • Whaaaa?! I'm sad now. :( Cheese is too delicious not to eat. The only thing I've really given up is soda because it doesn't even sound good to me anymore.
