  • I've been vegan for the most part for about a year and a half. If the occasional non-vegan item in my diary won't bring out your rageosaurus feel free to add me!
  • I've gone two weeks, drinking only on weekends! After months and months of "trying". It's the calorie logging that does it. I prefer beer and there are so many calories. Last night I had one (giant) beer and didn't want any more - who am I?! It's so nice to feel more in control. I don't need a drink and I can stop one from…
  • I shouldn't have said "cheat day", I hate that. Some days you're over, some days you're under; fair day don't worry about going over
  • I missed it this year, but... Frozen chocolate-dipped banana, deep fried artichoke hearts, onion flower, funnel cake, frozen lemonade, and lots of beer. Some days are just cheat days
  • Very cool menu, although I have to wonder where this person is buying those groceries. Obviously not CA!
  • @Jessbartell sometimes it helps me to have some flavored sparkling water around. It gives me that same feeling of sipping on something special, going to get another, etc. Obviously it doesn't always work, but...
  • I have been trying to cut alcohol on weekdays for months. Every week I say THIS WILL BE THE WEEK, but I cave partway through. This week I drank on Sunday, but until today so far so good. I'm in to be held accountable.
  • I was there for a few years, and I never thought I'd be here, trying on size 10 pants that are too big for me (at one point I was busting out of an 18)! But it was so easy to take control, and move beyond binges and mistakes with MFP, that I just kept going. When you hit my SW you will wonder how you did it - and you'll…
  • Thank you everyone!
  • In the U.S. milkshakes are made with ice cream and whole milk, so at least it's worth it! The first time I ordered a milkshake in NZ I was sorely disappointed...
  • I'm very interested in this as well. If I make my goal, it's generally at least half from fortified almond milk.

  • I've gone from 40D to 36B. My sense from the forums is that a lot of people lose cup sizes. But it sounds like you don't have that much to lose in the first place, so yours might be there to stay. Some women with B cups wouldn't mind having their D cups back...just sayin'...
  • Save some money by staying in hostels. Hang out and cook a little in the common areas - in no time, you'll meet new people and it won't be a totally solo vacation anymore. Have fun!
  • Post Punk Kitchen is consistently fantastic: theppk.com Hell Yeah It's Vegan! likes to trick the omnivores: hellyeahitsvegan.com Chocolate Covered Katie is my go-to for healthy(er) vegan sweets: chocolatecoveredkatie.com Budget Bytes is omni but has a lot of vegan/easily veganized recipes, all of which are simple, and…
  • Thanks! I hadn't seen the recipe links on that page. That soup sounds especially good!
  • I love Taco Bell! You can look up the nutrition on their website. Of course it's not health food, but it's tasty and there are a lot of reasonable-calorie choices. If I were you, I'd just log the burrito, with meat, and take the overestimated calories. You want to be accurate without making yourself crazy.
  • On the app, from the "Home" page, click "Weekly" and it will show you how many net calories you have consumed and how many you have left for the week. If you are IGNORING that weekly total, entire yesterday's leftover calories as a custom exercise to add them to today to increase your daily goal. If you went over one day…
  • Just want to add my voice to those who have said to get a food scale. At the very least, measure your food with measuring cups, but the scale is way better. Some of my experiences when I first got my food scale: I did a comparison for oatmeal. The box says 1 serving = 1/4 cup = 43g. So I measured out 43g with my scale and…
  • Thank you, everyone! I'm really excited about my fresh shiitakes!
  • Chickpea pasta! pasta chickpeas diced tomatoes (canned or fresh) garlic Other veg as desired (suggested: mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, etc) Cook pasta to not quite al dente. Soften or brown garlic, add other veg and chickpeas and simmer together until tomatoes break down slightly. Finish the pasta in the sauce.
  • I know what you mean! I will often weigh the pan I'm cooking in before starting. Then as soon as it's finished, I weigh the whole thing again and subtract the weight of the pan. Then SO can dish straight out of the pot with a spoon, and I'm the only one who needs to weigh my portion.
  • Too much math! Weigh the finished product, then enter your recipe servings based on weight. For instance, I made bread yesterday; the recipe made 1440g of bread; I entered my recipe as 14.4 servings. Now each "serving" is 100g, so when I slice off some bread, I just weigh it to log. Same with any other recipe. Weigh or…
  • I haven't had this problem, but my dad used to. He started keeping everything in the freezer.
  • I think a lot of people are going to say 3000 is too much, so I just want to step in with my experience. I too had a very active job, on my feet and moving with no breaks, literally without sitting down and hardly standing still for 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week. Now that I'm logging and aware of the calories in foods,…
  • What do you like? The flippant answer is to eat what you like but leave the meat out. I'm sure a lot of vegetarians here would be happy to offer up recipes if we knew what you consider "yummy". I love these enchiladas: http://www.budgetbytes.com/2013/04/black-bean-avocado-enchiladas/ This is my favorite salad of all time:…
  • I never made that connection before but you're right, zzzquil makes me hungry! I always take it right before getting in bed, though. I usually play sudoku for a while on my phone because it helps take my mind off of other things, the narrow focus helps me sleep and it distracts me from the hunger. I fall asleep pretty…
  • You don't need to, but if you're like me, pasta may be a trigger. Every time I measure out the serving size and constrain myself to that, I feel more deprived than if I just didn't have it at all. I have pasta sauces on quinoa, brown rice, zucchini noodles, bed of wilted spinach, some broccoli, etc, instead. Much more…
  • Another vote for ChocolateCoveredKatie. The cookie pie is to-die-for!
  • I look at that note differently. Even when I go WAY over, it doesn't seem like I would gain that much, and I NEVER feel like I could do it every day for five weeks. So when I go over and I see that, it feels like a little love note: "You would have to do this EVERY SINGLE DAY for FIVE WHOLE WEEKS just to gain x pounds!" I…
  • Oooh caponata is delicious! Getting hungry over here.
