I am not a fan of glibly dishing "SCREW ANYONE ELSE, ONLY YOU matter" advice. We are not children. The opinions of our family, friends and loved ones should and do matter; it is disingenuous to pretend otherwise. Yet even so, I must say that you are getting tortured to an a exceptional degree by everyone else's opinion of…

Great job man. Mind explaining a bit how you did it?

Nope. Not needed. I guess businesses just like to spend their revenues on "chemicals" they don't need, and use them for fun? More seriously, it would seem more reasonable to assume that each "chemical" has a purpose, no? A more constructive discussion then would be whether the purpose for adding it is worth the alleged…

I too have been big on tilapia lately, but then have been hearing some disturbing news regarding the ones from china. But it'll have to do until I can afford something else. Right now, half of my meals include tuna or tilapia. I love it but I also badly want to try other kinds of fish but cost is a big factor.

Family can be tough to get along with, but it's time to initiate and build some friendships. Few things are more valuable and contribute more to your well-being and overall happiness. Congrats on your successes otherwise.

Easier than thought.

Thank you to everyone who replied for your candor. Well then we have a problem because I have no intention of logging my food for the rest of my life. Hoping that portion control can be exercised without. I am approaching logging as a learning tool for that. The risks are evident, but I'm just gonna have to try and see…

Great, thanks! Sorry, didn't mean to kill the thread... :blushing:

Well, I guess I'll let myself out...

I have the opposite problem from OPs: Sometimes I wonder if I am entirely too relaxed about the whole thing. MFP has me at ~2300, and while I try to stay around 2000, I eat 2400-2500 pretty often... I'm still losing at a pretty good clip, but the thing that does worry me is that every single person who has lost 100lbs (my…

I don't plan of counting calories for the rest of my life. I'm gonna lose the excess fat and then bulk to the point where, combined w regular exercise and moderate eating, I can be comfy in the knowledge that I don't need to count. I expect this will take about 2 years.

15 lbs down but only 0.5in down around my neck. :-/ Still, I feel like my pants re getting loser, which doesn't really make sense, since waist and hips measurements have yet to budge. Probably wishful thinking... I have a ton to lose anyway.

Still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that some bro is actually, repeatedly bragging about reading that awful book. You need to get out more. (And read more. How that thing became a hit, I will never understand. Any random erotica site has better material...).

Ya think? ;-) Yes, your scale is messed up. I said this in another thread: it always fascinates me how people can claim dramatic weight increases overnight without questioning their scale (which to your credit, you did). You cannot gain more mass than you ingested. Now, it's relatively easy to gobble up 7 lbs of stuff in a…

Yikes. NO. Quite the opposite, you're supposed to eat well that very same day to replenish your blood. Also, avoid strenuous exercise that day.

Picked one up from Walmart the other day. ~$25 I think: http://www.taylorusa.com/kitchen/food-scales/biggest-loser-glass-digital-kitchen-scale.html Love it so far. I don't plan on being obsessive about it but rather, use it initially to get a better idea of the weight of things that are difficult to eyeball (e.g., bread).…

I also like how people claim some dramatic weight gains overnight, without questioning the accuracy of their scales. One shouldn't have to spell this out, but it is literally impossible to gain more mass than you have ingested.

People are weird.

Nope. Barely look at them for two reasons: (1) I am new to this and am still learning to meet my calorie goals. Not gonna worry about anything else for a while. (2) I eat a broad range of food anyway. I trust I'm getting most of what I need. In the short term, I will be looking to up the proteins when I start lifting…

Congrats on your progress. You have an amazing figure.

So that's about 500 cal. Hardly the end of the world.

I have a lot of lose so my goal is 2.5 week. I started right before the holidays so I've blown my daily allowance several times. Even so, I dropped 12 lbs in the first two weeks with almost no exercise (raising the question of just how much ****ing food did I use to ingest). But this week looks like I am on track for 3…

After thanksgiving I decided to "eat healthy" and began researching and googling the nutrition facts of everything. My fitness pal results often were near the top of list. Started reading the forums after a while and eventually joined. I used the web version mostly on my laptop. Didn't even know there was an app until…

I can't believe no one has said this yet: it's ONE day. Don't worry about calories. Eat whatever and however much or little you need in order to settle your stomach and feel better today. Forget about calories and worry about your health and well-being. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.
-
This may not mean much coming from a guy my size but worrying about 500 cal extra on any one day is a destructive mindset that is unsustainable in the long run. You just can't live that way.
-
Tagging this thread as well as I still have significant muscle mass under those thick layers of adipose. It's only been nearly 3 weeks of this but the weight is dropping so fast I'm getting concerned about the muscle. But I can't really hit the gym for another week or two for unrelated reasons.

White rice was something I used to eat literally every day, in prodigious quantities. It's a staple food for me, whereas it's a side dish for most in the US. Hated brown rice for a long time, but finally made the switch last fall based on the near-universal idea that it' better for you. I got used to it and began really…

This made me laugh. But its a good point. OP, learn to lift some weights and build some muscles instead. You will be shocked to see that it won't make you look like some freak. Instead, you will look fit and toned. And it will allow you to eat more. Finally, you will be building a foundation for the future, when a decade…

Mine is open too, though I doubt it will be of much use to many. Being a rather large fellow, I can get away with eating around 2000 cal and still lose a lot, at least for now. And then I only started in mid-Dec, so there is a lot of aberration due to the holidays. For example, I still have a lot of bread and cheese left…
