plus some of these states are gigantic... pollution in LA is not making its way to northern CA, nor is pollution in NYC getting to Buffalo.

There are lots of anti-gluten diets that allow and encourage other safer carbs like root veggies (potatoes) and white rice so they are just Atkins re-vamped, they're sustainable lifelong diets! I would encourage you to read up on a few options before cutting carbs completely (assuming that's what wheat belly says?),…

Yes... please! I went through 4 endos before landing on my current one (who I've been with for years now). Don't be afriad to switch.

It's based on the fact that your stomach should be empty, and it's easiest then to take it first thing in the morning. If you take it at night it should be at least 3 hours after a meal, more if possible :)

I just read the Perfect Health Diet which is similar to Paleo/Primal (it's Paleo based with a few other points). I never though I would be convinced to give up gluten and sugar, but that book totally convinced me and I've heard similar things about Wheatbelly. It's only been about 2 weeks for me and I feel amazing!

I haven't gotten to the bulletproof stage yet, but i do have coffee with coconut oil in the mornings and agree that it keeps me full for hours! and full-fat plain greek yogurt with a little mango or strawberry... it's like dessert for breakfast :)

This did crack me up! I wish my town would let me have chickens!

...admittedly, though, I haven't told my (also entirely obese) family yet. I want to reach a specific goal so I have evidence and not just theory before I proclaim my new lifestyle to them. Because I knooooooooow they're going to give me a hard time if I don't (and they looooove sugar and vegetable oils). So who am I to…

lol wellll I'm already getting the same flack from my boss... he's downing a soybean oil filled fast food burrito and diet pepsi while telling me that there's nothing wrong with gluten! I think lookin' fine and being happy and energetic will be smart@$$ enough to get under their skin... I'm finding that it's more…

I've definitely noticed a lot of nuts are roasted in other nut oils (especially peanut!) I don't know how disallowed that would technically be, but I found a few brands that have some options - wonderful almonds and pistachios, CVS's "gold emblem" brand macadamia nuts, raw salted pistachios, and raw almonds. I know on…

Melanie - I'll take inches any day!!!! I decided to stay off the scale for at least 2 weeks (or, 2 weigh ins - I weight in weekly, so I guess almost 3 weeks) so I don't get discouraged during whatever transition I might have. Thanks for adding me everyone!! :)

giant chunks of fresh garlic make everything better :) and if you have a trader joe's, they have a tasty "21 seasoning salute" that i use a lot

I have PCOS, hypothyroidism, and a bunch of other auto immune diseases and I agree with the low-moderate carb suggestion! Read "The Perfect Health Diet," it might help a lot. A lot of hypothyroid people follow it and it's the same sort of symptoms.

Wow, you look great! And what a fast pace... please please don't get discouraged if it slows down... but here's hoping it doesn't!!! :flowerforyou:

Thanks everyone! I'm already feeling better today (day 3.5). I was already eating a relatively low carb diet but it was the wrong kinds of carbs. I was also really hungry all day yesterday even though I was eating all my fats... but I'm 2 hours past breakfast today already and not hungry yet - a first in a long long time!…
