Thanks everyone! I officially started yesterday, and added all 3 of you as friends... please feel free to give me advice on my meals. I'll be in a period of transition for a week or 2 I'm sure as I figure out how to eat and when, etc but I'm really excited. I can say, I was SUPER full last night after eating tilapia and…

I think it's just an awkward subject for a lot of people, so I try not to talk about it with anyone unless I know they are in the same boat as me! Honestly, they just don't know what else to say... "good for you" sounds demeaning and mean, "good luck" sounds sarcastic... etc!

I'm sure he will notice!! Go and get a new shirt that FITS and flash him a giant smile, he won't be able to NOT notice!!!

I'm super new to this too! I am halfway through the "Perfect Helath Diet" which is very much Paleo based, and these are the ratios they determined: Fat: 50-65% Carbs (no grains of course): 20-35% Protein: 15% ...by calories By weight it's 65% plant foods, 35% meat and oils

I've been using chocolate milk as a cardio recovery drink for about 2 years... i buy the nesquick (no corn syrup) and mix it it with 1% or skim... not only delicious but totally effective.

ignore the negative nellies by the way... if you want to eat 6 egg whites in one day i think it would NOT be a good idea to also eat the yolks (which have way less protein and way more fat)!! Personally I can't eat the yolks because they contain a lot of phosphorus (it's a rare reason why I can't) but I love egg beaters by…

I buy egg whites by the carton! Occasionally I'll make egg salad with 6-7 whites and one yolk, and I give some of the yolk to the dogs. You could think about composting them, too...

Suggest that she track what she's doing now on MFP... maybe being exposed to all this would bring her around on her own!

Also, I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but personally if I go from 60-70% of my calories coming from good carbs to 40-50% from good carbs with the SAME calories per day, I do *much* better in the long run with less carbs. I do have metabolic conditions (no thyroid, PCOS, etc) so that does contribute to it... but I…

I don't know how much of this I buy into, but it might be an interesting read for you: http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/your-metabolism-type-diet

People very commonly ask me if I changed my hair. Every time. It's really weird! Then I have the choice to say: 1. Yes (a lie); 2. No, idk what you mean (another lie); or 3. No, my face just doesn't look like a balloon anymore Funny thing is, when I do actually change my hair, NO ONE notices!!! Most people want a hair cut…

Agree with other posters! 1. Log in every day 2. Don't give up if you stumble... because, you're going to stumble! 3. Exercise too!!

I'm here too! i wish MFP had a better way to interact with groups... being 3 clicks away makes it more difficult. i would love it if our topics came up on the homepage. from the southtowns originally, now in Amherst :)

also, consider not abandoning chocolate completely... you'll be more likely to crave & binge on it! sugar free hot chocolate or 10 chocolate chips are great craving satisfiers. just take your time and enjoy it!

this will catch up with you and won't be sustainable in the long term... i would recommend inserting a handful of nuts or a glass of skim milk in between meals. i know the feeling of the fear of your weight loss halting... but trust me, you have to have a sustainable diet in order to keep it up!!! slow and steady is worth…

"martini's for sale" UUUUUUUUUUUUUHGGGGGGGGGGGGHGHGHGH i hate that. ps - if you're real obsessed with the whole "and I" thing... just say "Jim and I posed for this photo." :-) also, everyone ranting on here... listen to the lexicon valley podcast, you'll love it!

Agreed, lots and lots of water, and take a midol, it will help with water retention. Other than that... even *I* avoid the scale during that time, you're not doing yourself any good monitoring it on a daily basis! I wait until 2-3 days in to jump back on the scale. :-)

Do most of your shopping in the outer circle of the store! The aisles have nothing but preserved foods and empty calories :-)

Just got one like this from a guy 20 years my senior: " Awsome! ps. how do [question]? - do I require more than a beard? tee hee.. Smiles, [name] " ...don't do any of that.
