  • I think it was a great episode. Bruce went through a lot, mentally and physically. He lost over 200 lbs and completely transformed himself. If he can do it, anyone can. Very inspiring!
  • Wow! Well done! Have you done any fitness? What was your nutrition like? Very impressive!
  • It feels pretty awesome! Thanks guys. Now that I have enough strength to do 1, hopefully that will lead to many more. If I can do 5 chin ups by end of the summer, I will be very happy.
  • Thanks for your feedback. So protein is calculated based on lean body mass and fat is calculated based on the entire body mass? Is that correct?
  • Way to go dude! That's quite a change. Can you share what your journey involved, i.e. nutrition, fitness, etc.? It would be very helpful. I'm currently 38 years old and my goal is to completely transform myself by the time I'm 40, so I can relate to what you were trying to accomplish. Well done!
  • Thank you all for your advice. I can't believe how many chimed in... this is so helpful. I will try to use the bar every chance I get. I tried today a few times and I could do 3 chin ups with chin-up max (all 3 bands). I think once I reach 10 chin ups, I'll remove one of the bands and go from there. I tried pull ups, but…
  • I have a few that I truly enjoy: 1. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. 2. One bad meal won't make you fat, just like one good meal won't make you skinny. 3. One pound at a time.
  • Cancel your gym membership and start using any of the BeachBody programs. They're all great. You just have to find the one that suits you. I'm currently doing Power 90 and almost done. Before the program, I couldn't do a single pushup. Today I cranked out 99 of them. My plan is to move on to Power 90 Master Series next.…
  • I've been using Condense by Purus Labs. It has no creatine and does a pretty good job. I get it from Amazon. I just ordered my second jar yesterday.
  • I agree. It would be great if I could search for success stories of people who I can relate to. I'm a 38 year old male, 6'1", 214 lbs. For example, when I read a success story of a 70 year old woman who lost 200lbs, hell yeah that's inspiring, but I can't relate to that. Or a girl who's 19 years old and had 20 lbs to lose.…
  • Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm actually doing Power 90 by BeachBody. It's a 90 day program, which is a mix of cardio and resistance training. I'm about 3 weeks away from finishing it. My next step is Power 90 Master Series, which is just a more intense version of Power 90. So I've been gaining muscle and losing fat,…
  • Actually, I can see my abs. My upper abs that is. When I workout, I workout in front of the mirror and I can see the upper abs very little. But that damn spare tire is killing me.
  • My stomach is not the only place where I have to lose. I have to lose from all over the body, but my stomach is my biggest problem. I wouldn't mind if it was harder, but it's soft and it kind of hangs. When I do my pushups, it hangs. I don't like that.
  • My favorite breakfast is egg whites omelet with spinach and baby bella mushrooms, low fat mozzarella cheese, 2 strips of low fat/low sodium turkey bacon. Half of multi-grain english muffin. Cup of coffee. Banana afterwards. Yummy, healthy and very filling. I don't like peppers or onions, but you can add those to the omelet…
  • I just started using these supplements, so I can't compare them, but I'm currently using Condense by Purus Labs and so far so good. I don't have that jittery feeling and it seems to help with the workout. It starts working in about 10 minutes. You start feeling like you have million ants all over your body and your face,…
  • I'm not hungry at all. Actually, I love my breakfasts and don't want to change anything, but I'm thinking if I can be more productive during my workouts, I'm game. I just read somewhere that high carb breakfast helps with a cardio workout. I'm not sure if it's true.
  • I drink ON whey protein shake with almond milk for snack 1 and I eat Fage 2% greek yougurt with a protein bar for snack 2. That's 75 grams of protein right there.
  • Any BeachBody program is great, because you can modify it to your own level, but since he's a newbie, I would recommend he look into Power 90. This is what I'm doing now and it's great. I have never excercised in my life. I've been doing Power 90 for 9 weeks now and it's awesome. Over 20 lbs lost and I'm really toning up…
  • I buy mine at Costco. It's the organic version $12 for a huge bag. I eat it almost every other day and it will probably last me a good few months. 3 tbs of chia seeds is 11g of fiber. How awesome is that. I put it in my whey protein shake and i love it. I get my chia seeds, whey protein and protein bars all at Costco. It…
  • Good job! That's a great start to your journey. If you're a beginner, I would recommend you look into BeachBody programs. You can start with Power 90 and then progress to other programs. I'm doing Power 90 now and it's great. I'm a beginner as well.
  • Good job! I quit over 6 months ago cold turkey, after smoking for 20 years a pack a day. It's a great feeling. Congrats! Just wait until you start noticing differences in how you feel. It's amazing!
  • Thanks for you response. This really doesn't mess with my head. I'm just trying to understand how my body works. If these kind of crazy fluctuations are caused by sodium, I have no problems reducing my levels of sodium. I'm just trying to understand why it's happening. I do weigh myself daily. It's just something I've been…
  • Congrats on your success! That's quite a transformation. Can you elaborate on how you did it? What was your nutrition like? Did you follow any specific macros/micros? Did you exercise and how?
  • First, why would you want to drink liquids that contain carcinogens? Caramel coloring contains them, so why not avoid them? Coke and Pepsi are changing their formulas. Read this. http://www.theguardian.com/business/2012/mar/09/coke-pepsi-recipe-change-avoid-cancer-warning Second, let me ask you this. If you take two twins.…
  • Simple answer is this. http://www.ehow.com/facts_7147402_water-better-drink-soda_.html Plus, a recent study found that caramel coloring in soda or any other food increases the risk of cancer. Are you disagreeing that water is better for you than soda? Please prove me wrong.
  • Do this. 1. Understand that water is good for your body. Soda is not. 2. Buy a Camelback water bottle. Keep filling it up with water. You'll be amazed at how much water you'll be consuming. 3. Understand that water is good for your body. Soda is not. 4. Repeat everyday.
  • Why not just ask your doctor? He/she knows your medical history and will be able to recommend the best exercise routine for you.
  • Go for sashimi and avoid the rice. I used to eat rolls with rice. Once I started watching what I'm eating, I switched over to sashimi. The first time I tried sashimi, I loved it. I'll never go back to eating sushi with rice. I don't like how bloated you feel after eating all that rice. Be careful with the type of sauces…
  • I will take 1 cup of low fat cottage cheese, .25 cups of fresh blueberries and .25 cups of fresh raspberries. Yummy combo! Sometimes it will be a part my breakfast and sometimes just as a snack.
