  • You can easily add additional body measurements to the myfitnesspal tracker. An app is another option tho I have not really investigated the apps for this site. I have a free app for my Ipod touch called fitness buddy and this will track body measurements, exercise, wt, etc.
  • Awesome, great job! Great looking family and love your sunshine smile!
  • Thanks for the tip! I've never tried them but am looking something with healthy fat and moderate protein. I see 1 oz of roasted pumpkin seeds has 9 g protein, 12 g fat, and 4 g carbs. I'll give em a try!
  • Thanks for the replies. I like to cook meat ahead on the weekend.. For example, I grill up 5 pounds of skinless chicken breast that my wife and I will eat over then next week or two. I put 4 oz of grilled meat into separate baggies for use in meals for snacks. So for some meals I need to use the raw (ones made fresh or…
  • Thanks! Is there a way to save the USDA entries so I don;t need to scroll through all the search entries?
  • I live in Idaho but that doesn't matter. I am referring to data in the myfitnesspal.com food library. For example, I like to eat cantalope and most of the entries list serving size in cups but not in weight. So yeah, I can get off my fat *kitten* and cut up some cantalope to weigh a cup full. But, the measured weight is…
  • Sad story, what was the mother thinking??? Wrong on so many levels... Grrrr to her... Take care!
  • Sorry to hear that... Good plan to keep the cat away from kids. I think we are really on the same page... Have a good one and all the best!
  • I've been around cats for over 50 years and have never observed a cat attacking a child in the face. Yes, hissing and snarling to warn but never an outright attack. IMO, there's more to this story than we're shown. In my experience, cats tend to give kids a wide berth until they're convinced the kid will not harm them.…
  • I agree in part, it certainly did display a natural consequences lesson. But, context is important. The kid is crying before he/she hits the cat. Why were they crying? We don't know but perhaps the cat had already bitten the kid? Don't know, just speculating. As far as "allowed" goes, well parents do need to be teaching…
  • I'm a bigtime cat lover and found that video very disturbing... Yeah, the kid should not have hit the cat but wow cannot allow a cat to attack like that... Must have been an intact tom as they tend to not back down if challenged...
  • Far from a pro on this question but my wife and I just tried our first smoothie with protein powder. We used strawberries (3 oz), half scoop protein powder (Body Fortress Whey protein), 1 cup of plain greek yogurt, 2/3 cup of 2% milk, and an ounce of almonds. We both loved it! There's many different smoothie recipes out…
  • Thanks everyone! I drink mostly coffee with 2-3 glasses of tap water. All my urine is clear and I make multiple trips so I should be good to go! Ummm, wait... That is, I drink at most 2 to 3 glasses of water per day.
  • [/quote] I have a Phd in Animal Science, 31 yrs experience in the dairy industry, and have formulated hundreds of diets for dairy cattle. I can assure you that your comments are totally wrong. Cows can digest grain and perform very well consuming a properly balanced diet. Cereal grains are not toxic to the animal nor do…
  • In for the info, had not tried smoothies before
  • Interesting concept but a bad idea IMO. We fatties do not be segregated! I was intimidated at first going to the gym and seeing all the young/fit gym rats in action. But, most are there to workout and not paying attention to others anyway so no worries. I've also found several to very helpful and encouraging if I had any…
  • Okay, you got it! The kick boxing was the key, man, you'd take me out othewise!
  • Some grains and legumes is not like today where they try and tell you to eat the majority of your food from those type of products..... Plus, ancient people would have had to grind it up for themselves, soak it and do other preparation to make it edible, so much work went into the process of making it…
  • Welcome and great question! I also have arthritis, mostly in my knees. Kudos for getting started on a program! In my case, I have found weight training helped, in particular leg presses to strengthen the knees. I use a treadmill at the gym and just walked at slow pace and for a short duration until I could walk faster and…
  • I have a gym membership and therefore do not own a treadmill. I like to use consumersearch.com when evaluating consumer items. Here is their current evaluation on treadmills: http://www.consumersearch.com/treadmills Good luck!
  • Thanks, very easy when you find out how to do it! Merry Christmas!
  • Excellent, bump for reference.
  • Hello! Complete newbie to the site and definitely a rookie relative to calculating nutrient targets... I am a 59 yr old male, 6 ft 2 in tall, weigh 300 pounds, and have an estimated BF% of 36.5% (Omron handheld BIA device). I have a desk job and live a mostly sedentary life. My goal is to lose 2 pounds per week and…
