So, you're saying that there's a little more to know than calories in/out. Got it! I understand for sure. This site is swarming with people with one post asking the same questions over and over again. And the world is filled with people who think that they are special snowflakes ("delicate flowers" as I refer to them) that…

Hey Guys, I am aware of this, because I do a lot of reading (and I do use the search function). I am not worried about the number on the scale. But for someone who doesn't, you can see how that equation might be a bit simplified. I definitely would not say it is incorrect, but can you all not see that it is too…

Well gosh, it's only been about a month since I started, but even after a month one might start to wonder why the calories in/out thing has "stopped" working. That equation didn't mention anything about plateaus, did it? So, maybe it isn't just as simple as the OPs equations. There are more ifs, ands, or buts (butts hurt…

Only slightly. This attitude is all I am talking about. Do you know any more about being healthy than "calories in/out?" Is it valuable relevant knowledge? (I am guessing the answer is yes) That's all I am saying. There is more to healthy weight loss than in/out.
-
Wow. How old are you? "butt hurt"? really?
-
Nah. I think the point was pretty clear. I have definitely noticed a group of posters here who seem to have a negative attitude towards people who haven't yet "gotten it". I assume by their posts that they are here because they never needed any help and they are perfect. Honestly, I don't know if the OP is one of those…

Then why did I stop losing weight when I was eating too few calories and start losing it again when I upped my calories? And why did I again stop losing it when I started lifting heavy things? What's the simple equation for those scenarios? As a sort of newbie here (but not to message boards in general), I definitely can…

I've actually been guilty of "trying to sabotage" people who were on a mission to lose weight. I didn't do it intentionally, but now that I am on a food awareness mission, I see that I was being that person. The times I am thinking of were when we had office birthday parties for coworkers and we'd have cake. One of my…

Aww! Shepherds are my favorite dogs. And they are MUCH better weights than a dachshund, which is my 2nd fave dog and what I have now. Her 12 lbs does me no good!

Suitcase! Great idea!

I've got a pretty embarrassing setup happening. I've just started trying to lift some weights this month, so I haven't bit the bullet and bought the real deal yet. I've been using a 24pack of bottled water (@25lbs) and taping my little 20 lbs of dumbells to the top to get 45 lbs. Tonight, I put it all in a box and added a…

Yes. I have read that eating a healthy diet can also help with the battle against depression. It may not be THE answer, but it is something that is good for you anyway, so it wouldn't hurt to be sure to eat right. Copied and pasted from some site: Don’t skip meals. Going too long between meals can make you feel irritable…

I know that there are lots of natural things that can work against depression, but none of those things will be THE answer that fixes it all, unfortunately. Depression is a lying, sneaky, devious monster and everyone's is different. It is almost impossible for someone who has not experienced depression to understand that…

The Success Stories section is my daily dose of motivation, so I thank you and everyone else who posts pics here. 60 pounds is amazing and it really shows in your face! Great job! :flowerforyou:

Awesome!

Sir Mix-A-Lot approves Glad you bumped this thread, OP. Good stuff.

What a difference! Keep up the great work! :flowerforyou: You are totally adorable, BTW!

That's one of the really annoying things about the app. It doesn't differentiate between natural and added sugars. I just keep a mental tab on my added sugars (and since it isn't much, it isn't hard to do) and I don't really pay attention to what the app says. I also don't worry about the sugars from fruit and veg.

I only started paying attention to what went into my body after a doctor prescribed medication for high blood pressure and said things like "heart attack" and "kidney failure". Now that I am aware of what I *should* intake in terms of sodium, I can't believe the amount of sodium some foods have. You'd think a wrap would be…

Just did a search to finally figure out what NSV meant! (non-scale victory!) So, that is one NSV ;) My favorite one is my improved relationship with clothing. I like clothes shopping now and I have done it at least once a week for the last couple of months. Also, my first round of "skinnier" clothes are getting too big for…

Thanks all for the info! :flowerforyou:

Two weeks is SO not enough time to see any real results. 2 pounds is a good loss for that amount of time though. As far as weighing myself, I take the lowest number and run with it. There was a pound difference the two times I got on the scale this morning. (the 2nd time was higher) I'm keeping the lowest number! Don't…

I agree. He sounds pretty great and he still wants you, so you must be pretty great too. As for how I would feel, I would feel embarrassed , which might make me want to lash out at the one who made me feel that way. Very understandable but not warranted, since that was far from the intent.

Oh! And I pretty much only drink water. I have one small glass of OJ every morning, a small glass of chocolate milk maybe once a week and cocktails a couple times a week. Other than that, it's all water.
