^^^ So completely true! Maybe it's time people learn that other people's opinions mean squat; the only opinion that really matters is your own.

Failed the exam too... I was too busy actually learning to write properly, so as to be understood correctly. You see, I'm under this strange belief that if you can't use the correct words and correct spelling, then the meaning gets lost. And since communication is really about getting the meaning across, not just the…

Well, since we're on the generalization bandwagon, I see that you're living up to the stereotype! Grammar is the difference between knowing your s--t and knowing you're s--t!

- Eggs - Milk, 2% - Red peppers - Almonds w/sea salt - Greek yogourt - Seedless raspberry jam - Cream cheese - Six Star Whey Isolate protein (Decadent chocolate!)

Well, I think you might have pointed out the exact nature of your problem... You're guessing as to the calorie intake, rather than measuring it! It does take extra effort to get accuracy, but once you do, it becomes a lot easier! Good luck!

As I pointed out, if the "disorder" is NOT causing health issues, then, can it really be labelled a disorder? If, on the other hand, people are suffering from nutritional imbalances, and so on and so forth, then it does become a disorder. But like many mental disorders, psychiatrists are still making only qualitative…

Without knowing more, you might consider eating back a portion of your exercise calories (not all of them) and see if that gets things going. I find that if I am under my daily amount by as little as 200 calories, the weight loss slows to a crawl... Good luck!

Wow, only in the first world are we so quick to want to find something wrong. From a certain perspective, anything can be classified as a disorder. Here's the kicker; if that "disorder" is causing nothing but social awkwardness and no actual detriment to health, is it really a disorder? Perhaps it's time for people to…

I'm glad you have found something that works for you. I'm always curious about plant-based diets as from a biology standpoint, I wonder how some of the more hardcore vegans manage to get all essential amino acids. And if it makes you feel any better, I should have been clearer right from the start, so please accept my…

Sorry if I was not clear in my response. I did not mean to indicate that you had read only a single book, but it did come across as if you believed that anything other than Dr. Fuhrman's work was just "inferior". I'm also glad you read more than one study. Some of them actually require that you have access to journal…

You know, the worst part is my original comment was about going to be about how glad I was that you found something that excited you and motivated you to do better for your body. I'm really happy for you and hope it helps you out. You might even look at Dr. Dukan's work as well, as he's had results for a long, long time as…

You might want to review the accepted definition: Human: a man, woman, or child of the species Homo sapiens, distinguished from other animals by superior mental development, power of articulate speech, and upright stance. Note that the superior mental development, power of articulate speech and the upright stance are not…

It means that MFP suggests you consume 1800 calories a day. A deficit is essentially a "lack" from the usual maintenance amount. For example, imagine that 2200 calories is what you require to stay are exactly your weight at the moment. A deficit of 400 calories would bring your daily amount to 1800. That means you would be…

That's a great point. But making the assumption that someone has not read the book is exactly that, an assumption. I've read several of Dr. Fuhrman's abstracts and he has some interesting ideas (http://www.nutritionj.com/content/9/1/51). My real issue is the idea of preaching from a pulpit after reading a book. It's like…

You are now my favourite person! Especially good, as I'm turning 41 in three months!
-
That's great for you. But keep in mind that some people eat meat on a regular basis and have lower cholesterol numbers. And some people who have been vegans for decades get cancer. If Dr. Fuhrman has helped people, that's great! If he's helped you, that's even better. But please note that not a single doctor in the world…

Myth! Maybe another way of looking at it is this: what exactly would happen if you ate carbs after a certain time of day? If you can't find quantitative data that would explain how this is a bad thing, then is it really a bad thing?

^^^ This is the attitude that gets results!

I'm not exactly sure what your current weight is, but I'm 5'11" and 196lbs and my current calories for the day are set for 1990. I do cardio 5 days a week (35-45 minutes/38-40km/h) and calisthenics 3 times a week (pushups/crunches/pullups). I never eat back my exercise calories, as I believe that the cardio is a benefit to…

I have oatmeal every day, but rarely as a breakfast choice. It's my standard snack (I eat 5 times a day), but as it's a little bland, I understand how you feel. Here's what I've done to improve it. I buy oatmeal by the 1kg bags (a lot cheaper per portion than the little single serves) and use mason jars (500ml) to prepare…

You mean he's not acting like a DB now?

Seriously... It's not just a question of your majority, but a question of responsibility. You want more protein in your diet? Then get more protein, that's all!
-
I looked over your diary, and I can see that you are consistently eating around 1800 calories a day, with more than 60% of that as carbs. I don't know how tall you are, but that seems a little high to me, just by judging your size from your picture. It's not that carbs are necessarily bad, but you might want to try a…

Rationalizing our bad habits is one of the key problems a lot of people face on MFP; I have done it as well, and it really is the most difficult thing to change. To realize that we truly are making excuses. Sure, the work is hard. So is heart disease and diabetes. Eating healthy is more complicated until you get the hang…

Completely second this ^^ I have been cigarette free for almost one and a half years. I used to smoke a pack a day for twenty years! Read the book, then realize how easy it actually is; you will keep wishing you had done it sooner!
-
You might want to start taking pictures and using a measuring tape, as sometimes, the fact that we see ourselves daily prevents us from seeing the changes. Personally, I think our eyeballs lose a little weight and affect our vision ;-)

Currently using: - Six Star Whey Isolate Decadent Chocolate - Kaizen Natural Whey Vanilla Bean The Six Star is one of the best tasting chocolate flavors I've ever tried and the Kaizen is not only great tasting but GMO free and artificial sweetener free SSS well!

Fresh fruit, protein powder, even a teaspoon of jam in a pinch!

If you maintain a healthy and moderate weight loss goal (1 to 1.5 lbs of fat a week) and maintain a healthy diet with a good balance of macros, your excess skin will also reduce. It's exaggeration that leads to problems (it's the basis of most of the problems we face here!)
