Worst thing I ever ate? A large water scorpion. Let me tell you, they taste horrible. Oh... you said regularly! lol

Guys can't win no matter what... really. I can't remember the last time my wife thought what I said was what I meant, and I generally say pretty much exactly what I mean. There's this word scrambling device in the female brain, you see...

I don't have pictures, but I have dropped about 33 lbs since I first started with C25k in August of 2013. I will say, in my opinion only, C25k alone will not make you lose weight. It's way too easy to eat back the relatively few calories you burn, and then some. What C25k DID do for me is two-fold: 1) It increased my…

Stupidest comment I've had so far was my wife saying, "Honey, you're looking really good!" I mean, what on earth is she thinking?!?

Pfffft. Be excited, you earned it. For the record, about once a week I wear a pair of pants that were my "go to" pants for a long time, that will now fall off of me if my belt isn't cinched to the last notch. It feels funny and looks even worse, but they remind me of my progress, and is especially helpful on the days where…

I see a lot of replies saying, "30 minutes is a good time". Please remember that 30 minutes is COMPLETELY arbitrary, it's like asking what a good color is and people responding "Blue". Good for who? For what purpose? Several of those people happen to be much younger than you, and also may or may not have a better general…

Thanks!

Agreed. I was so focused on "running" when I was in no physical shape to actually run beyond a jog that I was constantly suffering from dizziness and shin splints. I though RUN meant "Run as fast as you can". There is no need for that. Build your fitness slowly. When you get to your first longer run sections, you aren't…

Cancer is not funny, but this is funny. I am quite sure that losing weight doesn't give people cancer so quit hypochondriacicising. lol

Nice. I started trying to run in September or so. Same story, couldn't do it at first. :) I ran 7 miles a few weeks ago for the first time, I was elated. GREAT work!

I love the list! Thanks!

Let me reiterate, PLEASE no one hurt themselves! I was just making a point. :)

Do you have a 6th grade child handy?
-
I love it! Losing milk jugs, sacks of taters, and invisible children!

It's amazing, isn't it? For all the grief overweight people get, you have to be pretty crazy strong to tote around all that extra.

I went on a hike in the fall and was really struggling to get up and down the hills. I told my friend I was with it was because I was wearing a 50 lb pack. He looked at me odd since it wasn't "visible". :)

Log everything.

I'm down 25 lbs from my heaviest with only running, pushups and a sprinkling of a few other bodyweight exercises. I couldn't walk a mile, much less run, when I started. Could do a few pushups, I recently did 400 in a day. Couldn't even do half a pull-up, and now I can do several sets of four (very hard to do still). I…

Your math doesn't make sense to me, so I can't really figure out what the improvement is. Do you mean 7k in 8:29?

Pffff. Photoshop. This is not possible. lol (I'm just jealous)

I don't put much stock in BMI as a useful measure, partly because I have always been "overweight" even when I was very involved in athletics years ago and was very lean... I have always carried a lot of muscle. It's just another data point to track really. That said, the day I realized I have gotten back out of Obeseland…

"Fitbit says I'm doing 45000 - 60000 steps 5 days a week." I'm making an amazed face. Unless I intentionally get out and walk/run, I get about 2000 steps per day. Yes, I have a desk job and I shop at Amazon.com. I thought I was a superhero the one day I hit 25,000 steps. I can't imagine how often you must buy new shoes.

Almost 43 (I think). I'm down 20 from my high and have at least 20 to go. 30-35 more would be ideal. I work at home also and if I don't force myself to get out and run, I get almost zero exercise otherwise. I started walking, and later running, about 6 months ago. I've started incorporating light strength training the last…

Same age here, kind of different story. I actually was in decent shape off and on much of my adult life until I smacked my brain on a floor and was out of commission for about a year and a half. I felt like a fat, old man that was going to die of diabetes or something if I didn't get a grip on it (I kept eating like I used…

I sure miss climbing! First couple times out it can burn your forearms like mad and make your fingers feel like they are falling off. The body adapts pretty quickly, like most activities. I would say it's fairly impossible to generalize energy output for climbing, a hardcore climber can spend more energy working out a 3…

I'm getting old. It takes a tremendous amount of effort for me to lose anything. I'm probably just doing it wrong, but I AM going in the right direction! We're all in it together. :)

@EssexShell - Yes, words and memory! (And a few other things) Drives me up the wall!

Just got back in for the evening and was surprised to see all the kind comments! Thank you so much! It feels so weird to be running, that's for sure. I always hated it before, but I'm starting to love it. As for my injury, I was about at my wits end with frustration because every time I would try to exercise, I would get…
