  • What's the point of logging anything? It gives me a better idea of how many calories I'm consuming and how many I'm burning so I can make informed decisions about my diet. I got free movie tickets out of the deal and zucchini quiche so I can't complain, plus it was pretty fun to use a crowbar and rips stuff up lol
  • Well this question spiraled off topic quickly.....Thanks for the feedback, though :), I'm going to log it at carpentry since it is wayyyy out of the ordinary for me and my daily routine (work at a library) and my arms feel like lead weights now. I won't eat back the exercise calories, though, and see what happens. Sorry to…
  • This was nothing like cleaning. I was using a crowbar to pry up long strips of stapled wood and chiseling off edging as well as cutting and ripping up carpet and prying up large glued on tiles (not at my house, at a friends). I was dripping with sweat, so I don't think it is a lie to call it exercise, especially since I…
  • Thank you!
  • Thanks for the feedback! I was fairly active before I started, so this isn't a drastic change as far as that goes. I have lost about 7 lbs this week, but I think a lot of it was water weight. I really appreciate hearing all your opinions!
  • I'm new, so maybe this is crazy talk, but if you're still hungry, shouldn't you just eat like 1700 calories and try to burn 500 through exercise?
  • "You look great, by the way" is really all anyone ever needs to say about weight loss unless they are invited to say more or are having a conversation brought up by the weight loser about it. At least, in my opinion.
  • I doubt the calories you burn from doing squats are very high unless you're doing a boatload. They are more about building strength and muscle. So if MFP only allows you to log them as strength, then do the calories you lose still come off your daily allotment? Is that what you're looking for?

  • I do think it was necessary for me, not that I think it is for everyone. I kept trying to eat smaller portions of the foods I liked for my entire life, but I would just relapse. For me it was too hard to not have the second, third and forth cookie, much harder than having no cookies in my house at all. I would just get…
  • I usually eat one yolk! Isn't it bad to eat so many egg yolks, for cholesterol?
  • I'm not really sure how much I was eating before, since I started tracking the day I started eating better, but I would guess around 700-1000 more calories a day. I really, really, really like bread and cheese. Hence my drastic and sudden desire to eat better. I gained 10 lbs in a few months and when I stepped on the scale…
  • I think when a lot of people tell you to stop losing weight or say you seem to be getting anorexic it's usually because for whatever reason, your weight loss makes them insecure. Some people can't see others succeed without feeling like failures. I won't lie, when my friend lost 50 lbs I was happy for them, but I had a LOT…
  • I'm right at my target weight loss zone eating 1900-2000, then I usually burn about 500 in exercise. Am I supposed to eat some of those? MFP says I'm eating the correct amounts of protein and fiber, I should be fine on fiber considering how many fruits and vegetables I'm chowing on. I'll try increasing protein in the form…
  • I've got two! My normally sweet grandfather pinched my stomach fat when I was about 14 and told me I was getting a little chubby. I told him he wasn't exactly slender himself and laughed it off, but I still feel angry when I think about it. It's comforting to know he does it to normal-weighted cousins as well if they put…
  • I think it probably depends on what level of exertion it takes you to walk those four miles. It seems like it would be right on the edge of sedentary and light activity if you're seated the rest of the day.
  • I take about a tablespoon once in a while mixed into my water-bottle with a squirt of MISO water flavoring. I know a lot of people add honey and my coworker swears it is what helped her drop 50 lbs (over a long period). Usually I take it because it helps calm stomach acid issues rather than for weight loss. I really don't…
