Hello, I am Jerry, I have done several age group races as both a Clydesdale, and a joe-blow racer. Never fast (I joke that I am trying to get all of a race my money will pay for), but I have met and trained with some of the best people I have ever met the last few years. Several sprints, oly's and HIM's. Just three Ironman…

I started with my first sprint in 2007 not knowing how to swim (tough to do as an adult learner - should have seen me in class with all the moms and babies). Since then I have done several sprints, Oly's HIM's and three Ironman races (Coeur d'Alene once and Arizona twice). I have two 70.3's before summer this year…

Good goal! I did my first tri at age 39 just to say I did one before 40. Hardest part for me was learning to swim as an adult - not a lot of need for swimming in North Dakota. That is plenty of time. Just do not try to go too hard the first couple of weeks. if you hurt yourself you will not stick with it. I would humbly suggest walking a 5 k route that is interesting before or after work or with a friend to chat with. Then jog, before moving up to a comfortable run. I have been there just like…

I have a 70.2 Ironman tri in march in Oceanside, CA and another in May in Kona, HI. Other than that it is to get my Tuesday trainer to stop looking at me like "this exercise should be easy for you" when he knows that if it was I would not be paying him!

Park at the business next door. In my case the only free parking is two blocks down. it promotes bringing my lunch to work (instead of going out) and a light walk to and from the car each day.

I agree that the number is a personal choice. However, two pieces of advise my grandfather gave me that I still believe today (perhaps I am just gullible) - 1) be able to cover them for Church. 20 make sure they have personal meaning, not just some bikini girl you got at port. Now my grandfather was in the Navy and times…
