Going to do my first Du

In May.

I think I am anyway LOL. I've tossed it around in my head many, many times. I have some fitness goals that I am GOING to reach this year and I think this is one of the ways to make it happen.

It's May 18: http://www.hartfordmarathon.com/Events/Ten_Penny_Ale_Shamrock_Duathlon___3_3.htm

One of my friends who is a fitness FANATIC -- 1 full iron man (another slated for I think next year), several half iron mans, a bunch of tri's, marathons . . . you get the picture -- is going to hook me up with a training program.

I'm freaking giddy with excitement over this.

Good goal! I did my first tri at age 39 just to say I did one before 40. Hardest part for me was learning to swim as an adult - not a lot of need for swimming in North Dakota. After a couple of years off and a gain of several pounds, I set myself up for a couple of 1/2 Ironman races before summer kicks into high gear.

I've done several Duathlons and they're a lot of fun (hard work.....but fun)

The secret is to pace yourself for the first run and the bike ride, save some fuel for the second run.

Transitions for dualthlons are less complicated than triathlons, change your shoes, put on you helmet and off you go on your bike.....no wet feet etc to deal with.

    Have fun!

    Thanks.

I'm super excited. Now I just need to convince my husband to do it.

It's something I've always wanted to do.
