  • No one assumes you're an idiot or lying purposefully but this is a hugely common issue (especially on these boards), that people aren't logging accurately. Yes using the labels is good, but are you measuring or are you weighing? That adds up. I've seen SO MANY people swear up and down they log 100% accurately, but they…
  • I really think you need to get the mental game under control here first. Because, "dieting" as you say, isn't a cure necessarily. And you can fluctuate 5-10lbs a day depending on a hundred different things. "Maintenence" is a range more than a specific number and you're setting yourself up for dissapointment like that.…
  • This is NOT to be harsh at all but look at it this way, you lost 120lbs before, right? And am I correct in assuming you gained a portion of that back or you wouldn't be back here? Because it wasn't sustainable. It's hard to program our heads to accept slow and steady weight loss when everything is so sensationalized with…
  • A) weight loss isn't linear. You had a big drop, I'm not surprised it hasn't moved much after that. B)Five days is not enough time to see a trend. Because of the above. C)Why on earth if you know what your BMR is, are you eating only 1000 calories a day?? Yeah starvation mode is a myth and all that, but why would you do…
  • There's no such thing as good foods and bad foods. Does it fit your allotment for the day? Great. Are you getting the vitamins and nutrients you need? Go ahead, eat that entire loaf of bread then. Food is what your body needs to function. It's the hardest issue to overcome because unlike other addictions where you can just…
  • Did you mention how tall you are? You're under 100lbs so unless you're super extra short..I really don't know. If shakeology is going to help you eat more, as you said you aren't hungry, then maybe, though mainly people use it to lose weight from what I've seen. You mention weight gain like it's this massive thing, but…
  • I started at 307....Now, I couldn't jog when I first started because of the strain on my joints....but I got to where I could walk for a half hour, then walk faster for that half hour, then started with jogging. I like the C25K program because if I try to jog on my own I can never get the pace right. At least with…
  • If I eat a lot of premade foods my sodium levels are high (they don't affect me much though so I don't watch it really) The more I cook for myself, the easier it is to stay in range. Though I could basically just eat salt straight. I love salt.
  • I thought I hated spinach until I had the raw greens rather than overcooked mush. Same for broccoli, I absolutely love it raw or steamed. Also, tastes change every 7 years or so, keep trying things, there's different preparations and variety of everything so really do say you don't like an entire food group is…
  • I started with no weight on the bar, and now do with an extra twenty only a couple weeks later. Doesn't matter where you start, as long as you improve, right? Don't worry about comparing to other people, either. And yeah, standard barbell is 45lbs, but if it's not an Olympic bar it can be less.
  • Pssssh PC all the way. Though for console I've been on the Playstation bandwagon since the first one came out. When I was like 9. Love at first sight.
  • "enough" is arbitrary. Is it more than you were doing before? Then yes, you'll see changes. Weight loss comes from the diet more than anything. Eat at a deficit, lose weight. Running for 20 minutes is great for your heart health among other things, and you should absolutely do it for those reasons if nothing else.…
  • If I had been logging at my highest weight I doubt I would have gotten to that weight because I can eat about 2000 a day when I'm working out and lose a lot. To maintain I don't even know, I still have 70ish I want to lose. I couldn't maintain on 1200 and I'd likely stab someone I'd be so hungry. But I'm also 6' tall and…
  • I got a flu shot I think three years ago, so I was 20, and I flipped out. The funny part is I have tattoos all over and yet a needle for a shot is so bothersome to me. Even when I was little, I would scream and it would take nurses to pin me down. I can control it better now, as I've learned to deal with other anxiety…
  • When I first started I couldn't run at all and a mile tooke me 22 minutes. On a treadmill I can do two miles straight at a 13 min/mile pace. Outside two miles is about a minute and a half slower than that. I don't really ever focus on one mile straight, I'm trying to get a 5K so I could probably do one mile alone faster.
  • Honestly, any widespread disease freaks me out. BUT, I wash my hands, don't let people breathe on me, and clean the equipment at my gym before and after I use it. I haven't gotten sick in a while barring minor stuffy noses and ear infections which I'm prone to since basically birth... It'll be ok.
  • I was never taught this. I'm respectful, but never like this. I was leaving the gym the other day, though, and this kid who looked about 14-15 held the door for me. So I said thanks and he goes "no problem ma'am". Ma'am?? How old do I look?? It was a weird moment haha.
  • From what I can tell just reading online, Qsymia contains phentermine which is really not that great. Basically it's a bunch of stimulants, and not a good idea. So this tells me that you're looking to lose weight in a quick fix and that it is not in fact a medical issue. Like I said before, I think you're better off with a…
  • I'm pretty sure you can't change tendons...nor should you want to. This seems a bit...unhealthy, as a train of thought.
  • I feel like maybe I shouldn't touch this thread with a ten foot pole but I'm so curious. What "condition" and did you self diagnose or do you have a legit diagnosis? Also if weight is a symptom and you think that's not the answer, maybe you should see a physciatrist or psychologist to get something else sorted out. What…
  • I thought I couldn't run, either, until I figured out it was a pacing issue. I would try to maintain a pace that was too fast for me at the time, and when I slowed down a bit I could hold it longer. I use C25K now, there's a free app that's super helpful.
  • Stir fry is one of my favorites. You can make your own teriyaki sauce to cut down on calories and sodium, and put a ton of veggies in. No dairy. I'm also lactose and I find that as long as I make my own food, it isn't hard to avoid. It's only when I eat out I have an issue.
  • Your body being exhausted can be a symptom of not eating enough. Especially since you're getting 7 hours. Or, as backwards as it sounds, I find I'm more tired the more caffeine I have in my system because it builds a tolerance over time. Water intake helps me stay awake now honestly and I have more energy than I did before.
  • I take glucosamine which really helps. I notice if I forget to take it for even two days in a row I start to have the pain and stiffness in my knees and other joints. Also, as I lose weight and there isn't as much pressure on my joints the pain and discomfort decreases, so that's something to look forward to.
  • The things that worked in the beginning don't always continue to work as calories adjust and your body needs less and less as you lose weight. That being said, Log everything as accurately as possible and that includes weighing solid foods. Take pictures, do measurements, and ignore the scale. Also, maybe focus on larger…
  • Your mental health is important, because without it you won't accomplish your other goals either. The first thing I'd do is discuss these issues with my doctor and see if there's an alternative drug to take that might help reduce those symptoms. I think lots of people have suggested this in more detail and it seems like…
  • I would do as the other poster suggested and find the post op groups. Also, do you not have a diet plan in conjunction with what your doctor suggests? Your needs will be different than most of us given that you had surgery. The groups tab should be up at the top when you're already in the message boards, I'd start there.
  • I like Chris Pratt's diet: "Hey fatty, lose weight if you want to be in my movie" That's a huge motivator.
  • I'm not entirely sure what you're asking for? Are you looking for someone to tell you to stop eating? Dude, that's on you. Motivation from external sources only goes so far. I had two back to back awful days of binging eating candy...But it was my call to put a stop to it. If you want to get back on track, and it seems…
  • In 2012 I lost 42lbs. Earlier this year I had gained back 36 of it through a combination of willful ignorance, ignoring things, and not facing myself. And then I got back up and went back to it because that's all you can do, keep plugging away.
