  • So. When I say I wasn't allowed to watch TV it wasn't that it was on in another room and I could walk by accidentally. It was that we didn't have a TV except the one in my parent's bedroom, which was only on after I was asleep. My uncle has one TV, but no cable. So his kids watch only what is allowed. Same concept.
  • Holy run on sentences Batman. THat was hard to figure out. OK so if I got the gist of it...you want to lose more weight, fat in your stomach, and you don't want to bulk because you worked hard to lose weight. A)You sound like you have some disordered thinking patterns with weight loss and I'd take a look into that B)Are…
  • I don't get why people care about ads directed at kids. Is your six year old going out to buy the product? No, he'll pester you for it and you can use it as a learning experience. Or don't let them watch tv? I wasn't allowed to watch tv until I was older.
  • I LOVE mushrooms. I can't get enough and will often eat huge servings of them and refuse to share. But yeah, substituting soup should work for future...and I love mushrooms and have never noticed them in cream of mushroom...too small.
  • As someone who started the accounting program and dropped out (my best friend did get an accounting degree fyi) I can tell you there is almost NO math. So if you're leaning that way because you like math, just no. It's computers. I hated it for that reason. Look at the job market right now and what it was a couple years…
  • I was doing weekly weigh ins and getting discouraged by slow moving numbers. I last weighed in on the 10th and decided to wait until the 31st for another official weigh in. The overall trend is important to me, and I was losing sight of it. I do periodic evening checks to make sure I haven't fallen off track. My normal…
  • I personally think if you're within your goals it doesn't matter the timing, whatever works for you. You could look into intermittent (I so spelled that wrong eek) fasting because you could easily adapt to that method and a lot of people have success like that. Especially since you have supressed appetite already. Just…
  • I didn't google exactly what this is, but I'm going on what it sounds like. It's possible you lost weight because you were eating too little previously? The whole eat more to weigh less idea is something I can get behind. How accurately are you logging btw?
  • It doesn't work, and you know it doesn't, so don't. I know it's hard when we want results, but often times I find when my mind wanders away looking for quick fixes and easy solutions it's because I'm not being honest with myself. If you aren't losing, you aren't logging properly. Be completly honest with yourself and…
  • Self control is my hardest issue, as it is with a lot of people. Be brutally honest with yourself and log everything. For me, that helps me stay in line better because I'd rather use calories on better options. You can make it work with the food you're provided, you just need to figure out portion sizes. Give some examples…
  • Totally depends why you aren't energetic. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating enough during that time frame? How much water do you drink? A bottle of water and a jog around the block on my breaks helps wake me up if I'm dragging.
  • MFP grossly overestimates most of the time. Most people only count 50-75% of workout calories to acct for margin of error. You're not going to go into starvation mode, but if you aren't losing by eating back your calories (and you're logging 100% accurately by weighing portions otherwise) than experiment with eating back…
  • I think the reason I started knitting when I'm aready an avid reader is because knitting is difficult and it takes ALL of my focus. Maybe try a hobby that is difficult? And yes sometimes removing yourself from the location helps. If you eat your dinner and do a walk, it could help break the connection in your mind so…
  • Is there something else you can do? I took up knitting to stop my mindless post-dinner eating.
  • At leas you're aware you have an ED and are getting help. That's important. The biggest thing I've noticed with women, especially around my age or younger, is terrible posture which can make your body shape look different. Focus on standing straight and it'll change a lot. But really your issue is mental and like I said,…
  • Would it help if you preplanned dinner or made something that was only possible to make the proper portion of?
  • So obviously, you're still on your road to recovery and I don't want to give advice that I would normally give, since this is a serious situation. Explain these fears to your doctor and to your therapist. It's part of healing, and it's difficult, I know. Unfortunately, dealing with an ED is not something anyone here is…
  • I get those if I'm not getting enough potassium in my diet. It's awful and often leaves me sore the next day.
  • With TDEE, and being at -20% of that number, you should definitely eat that whole number . If you got your TDEE by inputting proper workouts, do not eat the calories back. But if you didn't, then you should. All depends on your settings.
  • The ones that say one servings are generally not so accurate because it's user input. It's better to weigh the individual pieces of your meal and enter separately (it gets easier after the first time because then the foods will be in your recent list). So say you're making..chicken pot pie. Rather than searching "chicken…
  • I'm over 5'11'' by a little bit, so pretty tall. My boyfriend is 5'7''. I've dated as short as 5'4'' for a man,. Height is literally the last thing I careabout in terms of physical attraction.
  • I'm at a severe deficit. I'm also 5'11'' give or take, and 273.9..but female. And I eat 1700 a day. My bf is not trying to lose pounds so he gets almost 1000 more than me a day even though he's way shorter. I'm not offended when he eats a bigger dinner in front of me. Or if he cooks his portion with olive oil and I can't…
  • If you enjoy it, and it gets your heartrate up and your body moving, then yes go for it. Basically do whatever you enjoy or can handle doing that burns the calories.
  • There's no way to answer that for sure, as the scale number has less to do with appearence than body composition. If you're more concerned about looking slim, and only have about 15lbs to lose, I'd recommend looking into a strength routine and focus more on losing fat and/or gaining muscle. You can't really compare people…
  • It's hard when you're trying something new, or fixing form, or upping weights. If it's too heavy for you to do proper form, you aren't ready to lift that heavy yet. I lift at a level that's embarassingly light compared to everyone else on the floor, but for me its heavy as hell, and that's all that matters because you…
  • If you look you can find different entries. It sounds like you find user submitted ones a lot of the time and you're right, who knows what a serving is. The good news is, once you find proper entries for the things you eat frequently, it'll show up in your recent list and then you can use it over and over.
  • I find people on the boards. If I like how they speak or sound I check out their profile. If I like that, I add them. But always with a message, then it's not weird, it's normal. If there's no message, I won't accept requests, and I think a lot of the serious people on here feel the same way. Serious as in logging, not in…
  • You can make your own workouts. I do this frequently if I'm feeling snarky and name it something funny. Are you looking for figuring out an accurate burn? For me, as a rule of thumb, I go 10 calories per minute if I'm pushing myself, 5 if it's not, and adjust from there.
  • Unfortunately I think you've done all you can. The decision to get better lies with her now and nothing you can say or do will make her hit that point before she's ready. If, and only if, it starts affecting her job performance, do I think you need to step in again.
  • I stopped hitting complete most days because it's so far off usually.
