  • How did you know that I need this pep-talk? Thank you!
  • My stomach has always made noises post surg. I've noticed that I feel and here a gurgle when I'm half full so I use it as a cue that I'm nearing my stopping point. The other noises it makes is when I've eaten WAY to fast or gulped liquids down. I warned my office mate from day one that I wasn't being rude, that my stomach…
  • i was allowed soft cooked scrammbled eggs. my favorite was ricotta bake. i'm sure you can find the recipe floating around on the web. don't knock meat in a blender! I hit puree stage right in time for christmas and i wasn't going to eat eggs and beans while everyone enjoyed a feast. i put roasted turkey, a little gravy,…
  • I think this is a common panic for newbies. I know it was for me! What I learned early on is to not compare your journey to others. It will mess with your head. I noticed early on for me I was comparing my progress to others and I thought "gee what am I doing wrong?" Well I wasn't doing anything wrong, it's just how my…
  • I think more people experience regret then they care to admit at the begining. The first two weeks were awful. But how could it not be? You just had major surgery, depending on your pre-op diet, you haven't had solid food in weeks, you are loopy from drugs and weak because you can only down a shot glass at a time. Who…
  • I would recommend the 5 day pouch test. Also, you can use cottage cheese to test your sleeve capacity. Measure out a cup of cottage cheese, on an empty stomach, eat till you feel full. Measure what you have left minus from 8 oz and that's your capacity. I was very worried that I had broke my sleeve bc around the holidays…
  • I'm ALL about the Fair Life skim milk!!! It lasts so long. Which is good bc I'm the only milk drinker in my house and 1 container lasts me a month!
  • I'm 20 months out.Whole milk just makes me feel like I'm going to die! I can do skim only. I've noticed I can eat my sugar but can't drink it. meaning I can eat ice cream but milk shakes or overly sweet coffee drinks make me feel horrible for a few hours. My symptoms are very similar to what I've read on Dump Syndrome. So,…
  • Quest bars and chips are my fave!!! Deviled eggs made with greek yogurt not mayo, slices of deli meat, string cheese and salt and vinegar pork rinds.
  • Way to go! You look awesome!
  • Thanks it has made a huge difference.
  • I comend you for sharing. I think the one aspect that isn't discussed enough when it comes to wls is the mental aspect of it. I've had 3 friends have vsg after me and they all looked to me for advice. The one thing I tried to prepare them for the most is the mental aspect. My doctor and his team where GREAT. However,…
  • I think it's a lack of education on wls. I've had someone tell me I took the easy way out. It was an older family member, so I couldn't tell her off. Mind you this person has been overweight her whole life and has voiced that it is too dangerous to have surgery. So she speaks from ignorance and fear, like most. After she…
  • I will never regret my sleeve. I would have done it ten times over. I look at the sagging skin as the trade off and would take it any day over being 298lbs with a laundry list of illnesses. You never know your skin may respond and bounce back better than you think.

  • I don't know if this is a faux pas or not but I started a FB page called the Potluck Pouch. It is dedicated to recipes and products. Feel free to check it out. But to answer your original post...I'm addicted to spiraled zucchini noodles and massaged kale salads.
  • Sadly, there really isn't anything that will make it go away totally. The best you can do is take care of your skin to help it stay hydrated( drink your water, take biotin, lotions). Those things didn't help me and I did them faithfully and still do in hopes that one day I'll wake up and look more human and less like the…

  • Congrats! Have you tried Pilates?
  • I told everyone. I knew it would go fast and I didn't want to lie and say I was doing it the old fashioned way. I also didn't want the "are you sick" questions. I'm glad I was an open book because I inspired 3 friends to have surgery and they are doing great. The only time I regreted telling someone was a coworker who…
  • I'm 19 months out and I think it's normal to get off track once you start feeling confident. My best piece of advice would be get back to basics and contact a nutritionist to help you get back on your journey. The worst you can do is beat yourself up over it because it happens to the best of us. the biggest struggle is…
  • My dr gave me a goal of 190 but I'm down to 160. I'd like to get down to 150 but if I don't I'd still be just fine with where I am today.
  • Totally normal...but remember your drs are very skilled. Just follow your pre-surg plan to the t and you will be fine. It's like everyone said it goes so quick that you really don't have time to worry about it. Just remind your self why you decided to have the surgery in the first place. Good luck to you!

  • I think the most challenging thing was how weak I was. You are taking in so little that your body is functioning on so little that you just have NO energy. I still felt hungry at first so that was weird, most people say they never felt hungry again after vsg...well I wasn't that lucky. So it was frustrating to be starving…
  • You can add me I'm 19 months out from vsg! I had a very long stall that I just broke by getting back to basics and getting a NUT involved.
  • I took 2 weeks total but I could have used a few more days. I just felt really weak and tired the first fe days back at work. Luckily I have a desk job and I work in healthcare so my boss was understanding if I was foggy and off my game a few days. If I would've known, I would have taken 3 weeks.
  • Feel free to add me..... I'm 19 months post surg and love being a support for anyone. I'm no pro but I'm a good listener and i love making friends :)
  • You can do it!!!! I did my pre-surg liquid for 2 weeks and after the first 5 days it got easier!
  • good old protein.....i started to notice i was getting hungrier a few weeks back...i was staring to fear i stretched my sleeve. i went back to basics...water and protein and lots of it...my restriction was there all this time i was just eating too many sliders, too many carbs and ignoring my plan set for me by my dr. as…
  • It took me 3 weeks to say I was glad...first three weeks were rough and two of those were home re-cooping before going back to work. Now I am almost 4 months and one week out (sleeved 12/9/13)and although after week three it was smooth sailing, however i hit my first stall and my hair has thinned. However, i would have…
  • Simple...you go to your doctor, like I did, and have them remove about 85% of your stomach and poof....teetering between 900 and 1100 cals a day...that's how.
