  • Thanks for the laugh this morning! and congrats. No-one really needs and elephant penis lying around anyway (though I'm almost curious enough to google the weight too, as another person said)!
  • I read your success story from last summer just yesterday and I am so impressed and happy for you! And now - a foot off your waist! Wahoo! Well done!
  • I am hoping my husband gains the same inspiration as yours! I think he's starting to pay attention, so I'm hoping. You guys look great and so very happy!
  • Well done! Another tall chick here, happy for the inspiration! After a rough last couple weeks mentally, I am getting back in my positive groove and was rewarded with a nice number on the scale this morning. I now weigh less than I did when I got pregnant the first time back in 2002 - that's a milestone! Am sending you a…
  • ^^ this ^^ I found myself really cruising toward giving up last week and realized I've been spending too much time on the future and not enough time on today - so I'm back to the Just For Today thinking (there is a thread about that here somewhere) and focusing on short term goals and hopefully then I can enjoy the big…
  • Great question - I'll be watching for these too!

  • It's Tuesday again folks! What's new with you this week? I tried on pants at a couple stores yesterday - after 10 years in a size 20, it was kind of wild to put on 18s and zip them up (and they were too baggy in the waist too!). Didn't buy anything though - think I'll wait another few weeks and see about a 16 instead!!!
  • It is much easier for me to get up in the morning if I have signed up for a fitness class - I know that the teacher is up and waiting for me, so away I go. Just a plan to go to the YMCA at 5:30 a.m. has not proven to be as successful for me, but I'm working on it. I also set out my workout clothes the night before and fill…
  • Oh oops! I didn't realize you started a new thread each Tuesday so I added the following to last week's thread: It's Tuesday again - time for more triumphs! Since last Tuesday, I hit a really tough patch for no apparent reason and with no warning. I spent many days feeling like I should give up. I was hit hard by a scale…
  • Very happy to add myself to the list of tall women! I'm 5'11.5" and age 48. I have traditionally carried weight in my legs and thighs but the last ten years have added weight above the belt. I am on a journey to find mental peace and discover my inner athlete. I've seen some people who have lost weight say they sometimes…
  • Am following this thread as I'm on the front end of my journey and am 5'11.5" Love the photo inspirations! Have yet to take any "before" pics myself. Doing that and taking some measurements are on my to-do list!
  • It's Tuesday again - time for more triumphs! Since last Tuesday, I hit a really tough patch for no apparent reason and with no warning. I spent many days feeling like I should give up. I was hit hard by a scale that didn't move for my Friday weigh-in. I was struck by the lack of support I have coming from my husband. BUT I…
  • I started with a Ninja ($149 at Costco) and it was OK but kind of left things in a texture like a very fine applesauce, plus it left chia seeds intact and I got a little tired of picking seeds out of my teeth. I used the Ninja for about 3 months. Then at Christmastime, I bought a NutriBullet Pro (at Kohl's for $120). The…
  • I am a huge green smoothie fan - 4-6 servings of veg a day with 3-4 servings of fruit. I have tried just about every kind of veg in a smoothie and find that kale and spinach and chard and lettuce and cabbage don't really taste like anything. I get very tired of eating salads and don't like cooked veggies either, so this…
  • Remember it's only a number on a scale! Look for the other positive things in your life - write a gratitude list if that helps - and notice what I'm guessing is a huge pile of things that you can be thankful for and many of them are directly related to you taking steps to improve your own health. Maybe even take a break…
  • Thank you both for the replies and the positive energy! It was a rough few days but I think I am seeing the light again! At least for the moment! And I am going to consider it a huge triumph that I put my feelings out there in a public post, and that kept working on my routine even with the stupid feelings rolling around…

  • Hope it goes well today! I totally remember when I signed up for my first yoga class last fall. I scheduled the class a couple days in advance and was nearly hyperventilating before I walked in the door. And it was just fine! Fabulous actually. I agree with the other posts that said think about (and answer) "what is the…
  • I was having the same thoughts this morning. I definitely need to take my measurements. Wish I'd have done it four months ago though my pants tell me I've lost inches!! It is really hard to maintain my equilibrium and motivation when I get all caught up with the numbers on that darn scale! Good for you!
  • Thanks everyone for the thoughts/comments/suggestions/experiences - it's really nice to be able to ask folks who know what I'm talking about!!
  • Today was my third Group Power class and I put the medium plates on instead of smalls. AND I LIVED THROUGH IT! In fact, I think I might have to up to a large for biceps and legs next class. I love muscles!
  • Congratulations on your excellent rehab and your inspiration to everyone! And let's just call the weight loss a "happy side effect" of your efforts, right? I loved that you said "if I can do yoga, anyone can!" I feel the same way. I started yoga (terrified) in October and it has been life changing for me. I wanted to do…
  • OK, I'm in! Sat 2/1 - 60 min HIIT yoga Sun 2/2 - 60 min hot power yoga Mon 2/3 - rest day 22 hours left!
  • I love hot power yoga - it is vinyasa style in a 100 degree room. Generally, I hate heat, so I was terrified to try it, but it turns out that the heat feels fabulous and I just soak it in about three times a week. btw I had never done a yoga class before this. A headband to keep sweat out of my eyes (and from up my nose…
  • I went from being a sugar freak to virtually losing my candy dravings almost overnight when I started having a green smoothie every morning. Same for my diet coke addiction - I was drinking 6+ cans a day and dropped to none within one month and I haven't had a single sip of soda for 3 months now. My husband still has diet…

  • HI everyone. I'm Sarah, age 48, wife, mom, full time work outside the home. I have spent the last 10+ years sliding into this spot, so am taking a slow and steady approach to climbing back out of it and finding the "inner athlete" I know is in there! I started power yoga several times a week in early October, a daily green…
  • Good for you! For me, it is all one step at a time and thinking in terms of lifestyle not a temporary diet. I just started on MFP with the new year. So far it has been really helpful in my efforts to eat more mindfully. Keep it up!
  • I've got 75 or so to go and am pretty motivated - going on three months now (don't know where I started, so am only tracking my weight from the last month or so - 8# since then!). Feel free to add me! I check in every day too.
