I have hyper mobile hips/pelvis due to an injury during childbirth. I could not do 5x5. I started with endurance strength, 3 sets of 15 reps for 4 weeks. (The amount of weight used was just enough to barely have me squeaking out the last few reps on my 3rd set). Then I switched to a weight that allowed me to get in 6-12…

How was your BF% measured?

My sciatic pain is almost always the result of tight hamstrings and/or glutes. Either one side or both. Stretching helps. Ice helps. Avoid heat as it just inflames the nerve more. (I know, ice sucks!)

Kids are 3,5 and 9. Maybe my 9 year old, but not the youngsters.

Following for later. Good luck! I'll be messaging you in a few weeks, hopefully.

I would consider it if I could drag their drugged bodies into the gym with me... But I have a feeling social services would be called.
-
Jealous. Getting out more often sans kids is not a possibility at the moment. Maybe next year.

I can only manage to get to my coach once a week. I record my drills at home for form and technique, yet every week I have to unlearn some bad habits. I really wish I could go more often.

Weight lifting causes inflammation and water retention. It's not unusual for me to gain 3-4 lbs during the week, only for it to drop off after a rest day. When aunt flow is near, I can gain 5-6 lbs temporarily. If you continue to increase in weight I would suggest buying a food scale to track your calories more accurately.

I never lift more than 5 lbs. I don't want to get bulky.
-
I agree. Better to learn the right way than have to unlearn the wrong way.
-
How much weight are you lift compared to your 1RM? I can't manage more than 2 compound lifts per day. If I can, I'm not pushing myself hard enough.

I'm so happy that I have my ghetto garage gym. I don't have to deal with bullchit like this.
-
Are you going for cardio or technique? Both?
-
Meh. I prep one day ahead. If I'm having chicken breasts for dinner, I make extra for chicken salad sandwiches tomorrow for lunch. Yes, it does save time.

In this moment and otep, but I'm biased for chick lead singers in metal bands.

My third had severe reflux. He comfort nursed. That doesn't mean that he didn't get any milk, just that breast milk wasn't needed for his main source of sustenance. I'm guessing he is on solids, correct? A 14 month old doesn't need to wake during the night for feedings, he is doing it because nursing comforts him and eases…

As NASM personal trainer, I would hope an initial assessment would be obvious and goes without saying.

Stop showing off.

Bahahaha. OP, the only thing I can think of is exercises to increase neck size. (I know somebody who did it because he kept getting knocked out in MMA fights). Google it.

The point of "active recovery" is doing just enough to get the blood flowing to your muscles, but without straining them. A slow to brisk walk, an easy bike ride, yoga etc. maybe some light yard work. Spring will be here soon (hopefully), so my "active rest" this weekend will be prepping my garden beds, pulling weeds,…

Stretching is active recovery, since you are engaging your muscles. Not only is it active, but an essential part of weight training that is often overlooked.

Smith machines are only good for hanging towels.

What? Beginners, overweight or not, can absolutely do Oly lifts. Start with the bar and focus on form. It's not like dumbbells pose less risk than a barbell. It's the weight and form that should be of concern.

I can't believe doctors still prescribe what is essentially amphetamines for weight loss.

And here comes the influx of advocare, herbalife, and beachbody "coaches".

I'm Roman Catholic and have never heard that dairy products are off limits.

A certified trainer doesn't automatically equal a qualified one. Just FYI. But a certification does mean they have basic knowledge and can hopefully put together a balanced routine. Be cautious, trainers try to push a lot of sales on you. You can't blame them, most trainers employed by gyms don't make jack chit. Just be…
