  • Hey there! I signed up for ETP back in January, but didn't really commit to it until about a month ago when the Trend Sheets came about. That thing is a game changer for me! In my experience, the message of "eat less, move more" has been so ingrained, that I was pretty gun shy when it came to upping my caloric intake. With…
  • ok. cool.
  • I'm in! Looking forward to getting back on track
  • I'm thinking impure thoughts about this...
  • Yes, pie always wins! Especially strawberry-rhubarb...
  • The next time she makes a comment to you about your weight, just look her straight in the eye with a confused look on your face, shake your head, and then turn around and walk away. People who feel the need to tear other people down don't deserve the satisfaction of a response.
  • Do you mean for lunches at work/school? Maybe cold foods? Like salads, sandwiches, wraps, etc...
  • Yep, all that. If and when she decides to make a change to her diet or fitness and asks you for help then you can offer guidance.
  • http://amzn.to/1HbnOIk Get this book. Do the workouts. Admire your awesome booty.
  • Yep, probably hip flexors. Do you have a desk job? Sitting for long periods of time has been shown to cause the hip flexors to shrink. I would search for some stretches and perform them every day. I used to have tight hip flexors (desk job and avid runner/hiker), and daily foam rolling and stretching has made all the…
  • Just a few ideas, these are things I reach for when I'm carb/fat poor and need more protein to hit my goal: 7oz shrimp (uncooked): 210 cals, 40/2/3.5 (P/C/F) 10 large egg whites: 172 cals, 36/2.4/0.6 8oz deli turkey breast: 200 cals, 44/4/2 8oz barramundi filet: 180 cals, 46/0/2
  • I second and third Zella. Love them!
  • Check out the program "Girls On The Run". It's a free program for elementary-school aged girls run by volunteers who train the girls after school a couple of days a week to run a full 5k, and then they all run a local race together. My stepdaughter participated a couple of years ago and it was a lot of fun!
  • My husband likes the results, but doesn't like the impact that my efforts have on him. It takes me time to work out, meal prep, and plan, and I think he'd rather I spend less time/energy on those things. He doesn't come right out and say it, and when I've brought it up he denies it (he may not even realize it himself), but…

  • That's probably a result of eating chemicals. If you eat clean, it will grow back.
  • What about eggs? I think a couple of hard-boiled eggs make a lunch salad much more filling, and you could make a veggie omelet or frittata for dinner. You could also do cold, pre-cooked, shrimp on a salad. Beans, lentils, and chickpeas are also good sources of protein and carbs, so you could make soup, black bean burritos,…
  • Yeah, if you're not eating the toppings - just greens and dressing - I think that the best way to fix this is to just buy/chop your own greens and add your own dressing. If you were eating half of the dressing and toppings I would suggest splitting the nutrition info in half and add 30-ish calories for the extra greens.
  • If they have opened their food diary, either to the public or to friends, you will be able to click on a green button that says "View Diary" from their profile page. To get to their profile page, just click on their name or profile picture. If you don't see the "View Diary" button, they have not made their food diary…
  • Hi! I'm Sandra from (usually sunny, currently frozen) Eastern Washington state. I'm a 34-year-old wife and mother/stepmother of three (one mine, two his, aged 13, 10, and 8). I usually run and lift weights, but I hate the dreadmill and it's way too cold and dark to run in the mornings like I usually do. I started BBG 1.0…
  • I was going to recommend the same thing. Go to a specialty running store and get fitted, and then buy some socks as a token of your appreciation for their time (I like Thorlos, and a good pair of running socks is nice to have anyway). Then take their brand and line recommendation and look for older models online. Good…
  • Avid hiker/camper/snowshoer here! A couple of years ago I moved from the mountainous side to the flat side of my state and I miss my trails! I used to be able to go for a decent hike 30 minutes from my house, and now it's at least a two hour drive to get any elevation. My husband and I plan to hike the entire Wonderland…
  • I have a husband and three kids, and I find that making health a priority for the whole family helps a lot. I treat this as not "mom on a diet", but rather, our family as a whole values our health, and finds ways to incorporate that in to our daily lives. I prepare healthy, balanced meals and when the kids (or husband)…
  • Walking on a treadmill, I would just let fitbit count that as steps. Anything else, log it under exercise on the fitbit app.
  • I noticed this the past couple of days. It would sync just fine until late morning, and then nothing. I disconnected my fitbit account on mfp and then reconnected. This worked, but it's kind of a pain and I don't want to have to do this every day...
  • Well, the good news is that you're still down 20 pounds! I would take this as an opportunity to look at what I was doing before and figure out what wasn't working, because obviously something wasn't or you wouldn't have "fallen off". Maybe you went too extreme and tried to implement too many changes at once, which isn't…
  • I had just the opposite experience. I had a pretty nasty bout of anxiety and depression which I ended up with me not eating for days at a time over a period of six months (as a distraction of sorts - if I could concentrate on the feeling of hunger and focus my will power on making it another day without eating, I didn't…
  • I would ask him to elaborate. He's asked you to be supportive, but that's so subjective. What's support to one person is meddling to another. Ask him exactly what "supportive" looks and feels like to him. Maybe he needs verbal encouragement. Maybe he needs you to help him plan and prep meals. Maybe he just needs someone to…
  • This is really a question for your doctor and not internet randos. But, FWIW, here's my anecdotal evidence. There is evidence that prolonged excess protein consumption can damage the kidneys. My husband had this happen to him, but he was probably consuming 250+ grams/day. If you are worried about it, it's a matter of a…
  • Eh, sometimes. Our styles are pretty different - I'm a type A, gotta-have-a-plan-and-stick-to-it, girl, and he just likes to step into the weight room and do whatever sounds fun that day (bench presses and biceps curls mostly). Also, our schedules are different, so I hit the gym in the morning and run after work. He leaves…
