  • Have you tried zig zagging your cals?? This happened to me just a few weeks ago. As soon as I started zig zagging, the weight just fell back off.
  • "eat stop eat" sounds interesting. I'm a notorious late night snacker, so I've been trying to push my eating back to earlier in the day so that I don't eat right before I go to bed. 7:30 seems so early though, especially with how late I generally stay up. I might try that though. As far as protein shakes go, I'm just…
  • Green olives and olive oil contain fats that attack belly fat. Maybe try eating more of these? I've been trying to eat a serving of olives a day to see if it will help. Congrats on your loss so far!!
  • Actually, unless you calculate from the extreme top end of her healthy weight range, she isn't suffering from anorexia--just a restrictive-type eating disorder. If she continues losing she will be anorexic, but at 8 stone, she isn't. I think what's most sad of all are some of the comments on the story. A lot of them are so…
  • I don't know how I feel about Yahoo news. Also the whole, "don't restrict calories, it's ultimately bad for weight loss" seems a bit bogus to me. While I understand restricting calories too much is detrimental to your metabolism (and ultimately weight loss), it seems to me like they're advocating eating whatever you want…
  • My parents get at me all the time for it. My mom will make comments like, "God, first you're vegetarian, and now you're counting calories... we just can't win!" My dad makes fun of me for it. It's really hurtful, but I think they do it because I'm making them more aware of what they're eating, and they don't like it (I…
  • I've been looking into HRM recently. If you want to get reviews, look on Amazon.com. I just looked up the Fitbit, and there are at least 2 or 3 very comprehensive reviews of it right on the main page. I would also recommend going to their website to see what it can/can't do, read other user reviews, etc. From all that I…

  • I might actually have to work at the dairy thing, since I don't actually eat it that much (despite a love of all things cheesy). Miles will be difficult too, as I have a treadmill and stationary bike at home that I use, but both of them are so old that they don't actually keep track of anything anymore....
  • I ended up exercising an extra day... I wasn't sure if standing on my feet for 8 hours was actually "working out". I counted it for exercise cals since it was my first day and in the past year and a half, I had gotten used to a sedentary office job. But just in case, I added an extra day of working out as well. MON…
  • Try taking measurements as well. I've only lost a few pounds so far, but have lost tons of inches off my waist. Also, try getting some more supportive friends. :/
  • In addition to the healthy fats, I heard on Dr. Oz that eating olives (or using olive oil) will help cut down belly fat.

  • If you can find a Vanity store near you, they sell their jeans by waist and inseam. I don't think they're nationwide yet, but they might be--it's worth checking in to. They have tons of varieties of styles and sizes. They pretty much saved my life back in high school. I seriously cried every time I had to go find jeans…
  • Maybe squats and crunches/situps??? That's all I can think of, but I don't know a lot about workouts. I'd like to hear if anyone else has any more inventive ideas....
  • So did not make the water goal today, since I just logged on for the first time. Oh well, for the other days I'll try. :)
  • It was finals week.... But I did manage to up my fruits and veggies. I usually get..... 0 servings a day. So this is an improvement! • I think you're right to a certain degree. There are some people who know that what they're eating is unhealthy, and just don't care. My dad is that way--I'll look at what he's eating and be like, "You know that there's easily like 2000-3000 calories on your plate, right?" and he just shrugs and eats it all. So certainly,…
  • He very well might have a valid point. Perhaps he's jealous, perhaps he just likes curves. But maybe you are actually starting to look too thin. Keep in mind that you will almost always see yourself as bigger than you actually are. It's actually a built-in human cognition. So perhaps you look at yourself and see all the…
  • I was you two months ago. Before I started MFP, I just never thought about calories or what I was putting in my body. I'd eat an entire bag of doritos for dinner, then have some boscos, an entire two liter of Mt. Dew, probably some Taco Bell, and maybe some popcorn. I still really struggle with my junk food cravings.…
  • If there's a Vanity near you, I totally suggest shopping there. When I was in high school, I had a hard time finding jeans that fit because I'm 5'11" and have quite the "badonkadonk" and "thunder thighs". When I did find jeans that fit my backside, they were ALWAYS too short. And I'd almost always end up crying in the…

  • Are you weighing yourself at the same time everyday? I've noticed a huge difference between weighing myself at 6am versus weighing in at 8am. I've definitely seen as much as 5 lbs fluctuation between times. Also, if you think walking to classes might be affecting it, try walking on the days you don't have class--just…

  • Why are all the tall ones so freaking light?? I'm 5'11, and I'll be excited when I get to 140... these women are 5'10/5'11 and are still like 120. :( I mean, if you really look at the list all of them weigh about the same amount, with one or two outliers, regardless of height. It's kind of discouraging.
